Don't be surprised if you have to go through truckloads of red tape. They care more about not…read morespending a cent more than they need to than they do about really helping people. My husband and I went to them for help paying our rent because we were almost two months behind. I received a phone call from a woman requesting additional information, and I gave her everything she asked for. I informed her that my husband was our sole breadwinner and I'd been unable to work since February 2022 due to health concerns. She asked if I had any medical documentation to verify these "claims," but I told her I hadn't seen a doctor in years because we were unable to afford it, but that I had an appointment coming up in February, at which time I would be able to obtain the necessary medical documents. She said she'd speak with her supervisor and see if there was anything that could be done for us in the meantime, and then she'd call me back. She called back very quickly, probably within about ten minutes of us hanging up. She informed me that her supervisor confirmed I would indeed need to have medical documentation before they could help us paying our rent, which was all of $175. First of all, it was like talking to a frigging wall! I had just told this woman I hadn't seen a physician in YEARS and wouldn't be able to see one until February, and yet her genius response was to tell me that they would need documentation before they could help. Like I can wait two months to pay my rent just so I can show them notes from a doctor verifying that, yes, I AM falling asleep at random times throughout the day (something that frankly doesn't require a doctor's opinion, as I'm fairly certain I know what falling asleep is without a diagnosis, but hey, that's charities for you these days). And secondly, had the amount be something significant and/or ridiculous, I could understand insisting on documentation. But for an amount under $200, it seemed ridiculous for them to make such a huge deal about it. They zeroed in on the fact that I wasn't working and forgot the bigger picture about my husband working his ass off, often doing overtime, and still not being able to afford paying our bills. This is the competitive aspect of American culture -- even charities tasked with helping the less fortunate STILL have to ensure they only help certain people they deem deserving of charity. But that shouldn't be how communities help each other. We should first -- and we should care MORE -- about making sure we all have the basic necessities; and LESS about the circumstances.

No concern for public health?…read more We had to visit a therapy office in Blountville. The receptionist was behind a solid window with the office staff and not wearing a mask. But due to the wall and window she was not affecting us. (she was very polite and professional) Two of the staff members came into the waiying room. The 1st one without a mask went thru the room, spoke with us for a second to let us know someone would be with us in a minute. A 2nd staffer came into the waiting room to help with the reason for our visit. When I asked her to please put on a mask, she rudely changed her tone of voice said, "I am not required to wear one" A couple of minutes later I spoke with her supervisor and she also refused to wear one stating that they were not required at that office. When I told her I would report this to the health dept. she told me to go ahead and do it. They are not part of the Sullivan County medical system and are exempt. Even if the therapist has a mask when they take you down the hall to their office, they remive it once the door is closed and request you to remove yours as well. Not safe for patients or their family members. The place is the Branch House at 313 Foothills Rd, Blountville TN 37617

I will start with a positive. The receptionist is very nice, professional and seems caring…read more That is about where the good things stop. The rest of the staff is rude and unprofessional. The supervisor is deceitful and dis-honest. I would NEVER entrust a family members well being with this bunch. The 2 star as opposed to 1 star is solely because of the extreme courtesy and professionalism of the receptionist. But the multiple staff members we have dealt with in the back would bring this down to a negative rating if Yelp allowed it. In addition, they have been reported to the county health dept. because a supervisor and 3 staff members were not wearing mask which are mandated in our area. When we politely asked for them to wear them while in the room with us The supervisor was very rude and said they were exempt and did not require them since they were not part of the county health system.
