All individual children are accommodated within a class, whether water-shy or water babies! Liz has a very child centered approach and can accommodate the whole range of abilities within a class taking time with each child developing them all at their own pace. It's been a really rewarding and enjoyable experience for my son. He has got so much out of his swimming classes and it has developed not only his swimming but also his confidence and social skills. Home to the only…read moreOlympic swimming pool in Northern Ireland, a water park, outdoor 4G football and hockey pitches and a fully equipped gym Aurora has become a hive of activity since its opening in 2013. I attend Aurora as a football and an indoor spectator 3 times a week - the football pitches are unbelievable, probably the best surface I have ever played on. They are floodlit and most of the local amateur football teams utilize the surface on weeknights. It's worth noting that they are available to hire by anyone but you may struggle at peak times. The indoor facilities are just as good, there is a café and a viewing gallery overlooking the pool and indoor sports hall. The Café is operated independently but they serve Costa Coffee. As I haven't experienced the gym I can't comment on it but from having a peak through the window it looks top notch. There is a huge car park at Aurora, which has clearly been built with hosting international events in mind. Aurora has proved to be an excellent addition to the Northern Ireland sporting world, something we were severely lacking. Hopefully this facility can help nurture the raw sporting talent we have in our wee country.

It is a truly amazing complex which facilitates all ages and abilities. The pools are wonderful and no matter what your swimming capabilities are there is something here for you. You can sign up for all different exercise classes Wetherby that is water related or not but there will be something that will suite your needs . It's even a good place to meet up with friends for a coffee or bite to eat. There are so many things to explore it's well worth coming on to check the facilities out.

This place was very knowledgeable and helpful with their menu, even offered to scrub down a panini press for her to be sure. The pool is a no photograph pool, and while I get it, there were no signs in the stands to tell me such and the woman who came to take my head off was rude and hostile - there's a right way and a wrong way to handle people and she was wrong. I'm not an idiot, I only took pictures of my son and his father, but don't take my head off like I'm a child - plus? Put up a damn sign. Good facilities though, book online during busy times!

There is one gigantic negative which I will come to at the end…read more This is an old fashioned Leisureplex, complete with pool, water slides, annoying children, a place to get food etc It is a great family day out. The staff have the traditional bored look on their faces as a 6 year old runs past them for the second time with a massive inflatable ring to go down the same water slide they have been in charge of for the last six months. Children absolutely adore it. I even adored it. Good fun. Now comes the negative. They have unisex changing rooms. The 'cubicles' are lined side by side and after a particularly difficult moment on holidays one year in a different unisex changing rooms whereby a mobile was being used inappropriately and resulted in a cheeky wee so and so nearly getting a kicking from our entire family. Needless to say I have never been a fan of unisex changing rooms and this is the biggest problem for Lagan Valley. There is no problem with separate changing rooms for men and women. Unisex changing rooms lead to too much running about trying to find one that is empty and too much chance of getting into an argument... All in all, if they sort out the changing rooms, then it will be fine. Until then, I probably won't be back.

It is adult supervision at all times so its great if you love slides and climbing if not its too bad! There are two areas which include a baby area and a bigger play area from ages 2+. The baby area is brilliant for tiny toes who are not yet completely on their feet yet as it gives them room to explore without being flung to side by a wrecking ball (older child). This area has a tinier climbing frame, 2 slides, soft blocks and musical instruments...Let's face it who doesn't love the sound of drums :/ Funky monkeys has its own cafe so its strictly no outside food and drink and they are quite strict with these rules. This isn't suitable if you have a child with special dietary requirements i.e lactose intolerant as majority of the staff are reluctant to allow you to feed your child with your own food. Some of the staff are brilliant and completely understand and in most circumstances allow this to happen so thumbs up to them! The cafe is also quite expensive for example a tiny carton of apple/orange juice is £1! They have great facilities including a disabled toilet and a lift down to the main toilets. The staff are always on hand to make sure that child play is safe and secure which is great if you are the panic mum or dad. Overall Funky Monkeys is a great family outing! The kids all appear to love it as they run about beetroot red with tons of energy. Also don't forget that if you would like to join your kids make sure to bring an extra pair of clean socks :)

It has none of that hell factor that some indoor play areas have - it is as much a pleasure for the adults as it is for the over excited kids. Just one caveat - Mookie World describes itself as being suitable for kids up to age 11. I would have to disagree with that - my nine year old wouldn't choose to go as the equipment is too young for him. I think 7 or 8 is a more realistic cut off age. Having said that, the nine year old was delighted with the free internet access and a huge chocolate brownie from the cafe. Mookie World has the usual slides, ball pits and swings etc but it is really beautifully done - the theme seems to be Mookie the Cow who appears everywhere. For adults there are comfy seats and a really good cafe - Yum Yums. Actually it is yum yum. The tray bakes, brownies, muffins and scones are excellent and resaonably priced. For the kids there's plenty of sweets, crisps, drinks and fruit. They also do organic baby food and hot meals made with local ingredients. Another big tick for the fact that Mookie World opens at 10am on Sundays and we have been a couple of times for playtime for the kids and breakfast bagels and the papers for us. Result. There is plently of parking and the cinema and another couple of restaurants next door, so could be a good choice for a birthday day out. It's £4.95 per child and this is good value for money given the excellent facilities. I will keep going to Mookie World until even the 5 year old outgrows it.

Clip 'N Climb is located inside Dundonald Ice Bowl complex. As you enter the building take a left into the ice rink and they have their own reception just in front of you. Once you have your details confirmed you are brought into a training room where you undergo thorough training and have your harness fitted for the climbing walls. This was quite a long process so for younger kids can be a bit boring but it is a must for safety and as a parent and in charge of others kids I wasn't complaining. Once this is complete the group is led through secure doors into the climbing arena and the fun begins. You get an hour to try as many of the walls as you like, there must be at least 20 each one being different and you can time yourself for the serious climbers. There are plenty of staff to assist with hooking the harnesses on for the abseil down and adults are allowed to accompany kids in to assist as well but must wear like a high via jacket. For the very brave there are a few extra activities including 'the leap of faith' or 'the drop slide' but these come at an extra cost. Unfortunately I didn't get to participate this time as I was pregnant but I will definitely be back when able as I love a challenge. Even though i wasn't able to take part I was able to spectate from a very comfortable balcony viewing area which had lovely comfy sofas and along with a coffee from their own coffee bar it wasn't a boring wait. This was a birthday to remember for my daughter and the feed back from her friends parents was that everyone had a ball. We will be back.....

This gym has a good indoor football court and squash courts. It is also the home of the famous wave maker and has some adequate water slides for the kids. However don't expect to be able to swim lengths or anything because the pools isn't designed for that. All in all it is clean and cheap and the staff are lovely too.

What is an absolute joke, though, is that "all adult monthly Boost memberships have an administration fee of £15 to activate" - what?! So I fill in a form and hand it in, someone spends 5-10 minutes putting my details into a computer, presses print and gives me a plastic card, and I get charged £15? Who runs this place, Halifax?

The pool area which is the reason why I travelled all this way is your run of the mill, typical swimming pool complete with lifeguards and changing rooms. There a separate pools for children, not very good swimmers and the very good swimmers. The biggest pool isn't quite Olympic standard but then again neither am I. The one issue I have with places like this is hygene and Im glad to say this place is excellent. Swimming pools need to be kept clean and the staff here do a very good job. The Leisure Centre also has room for indoor football and gym to flex your pecks. As long as a place like this can be clean and cheap, then it gets a thumbs up from me. A great day out for young folks and old folks alike
