We even took the time to visit the school and had conversations with Ebony, the head of admissions, and Marcel Shaw, both over the phone and in person, to finalize his admission. We confirmed multiple times that everything was on track, starting from our discussions in April 2025. Just before the Summer Bridge program began, I reached out to Ebony to ensure my son's enrollment was secure, relying on this assurance to cancel all other offers and commitments from different pre-college programs for the summer. I took time off work and drove back and forth for two consecutive weeks to ensure a smooth move-in day. To our shock, on that very day, we were informed that my son was too young due to my early signing of the dorm commitment form. Despite explaining that he was only planning to participate in the 6-week Summer Bridge program, which had been clarified numerous times, the message fell on deaf ears. I have had good experiences at Paul Quinn College. Maddie from Student Accounts, Barbara from Financial Aid, and Marquita, the Registrar, were all very helpful when I dealt with them this week. Notable employees include Dr. Terry, who helped me while I was on vacation, Drs. Lola and Jagne-Shaw, who contacted me to explain portal problems, Dr. Grant, who responds to problems immediately, Dr. Rivas, who follows up well, and Ebony, who does everything with a smile. The college offers a full package for success. The staff, dorms, facilities, menu, and course rigor are unmatched. I respect and value the school's We/Me mission. I attended the Paul Quinn College summer program in 2025 and immediately transferred to another college. Not only is the communication terrible ( like they tell you things last minute ALL the time), but they're extremely unorganized. They told us last week about Summer Bridge that they were having a housing shortage. Weeks before, they had a power outage, then a COVID-19 outbreak ( not only did they expect us to pack and be gone the next day, they still expected us to get on Zoom calls to finish the remaining classes), and the wifi is terrible. All of these things are confusing because they were donated 20 million dollars just last year and are constantly getting donations from other AME churches. Just a heads up if your child or you are going to Paul Quinn and have to do the ridiculous summer program, 1- Prez ( or President Sorrell) teaches one of the classes and fails you on every little thing, grammar, spelling, whatever, and it's talk in his class or fail. Then he makes you memorize 8 poems, 2 songs, and a mural, and makes you take a test on them, and the tests are always randomized, so you never really know what's gonna be on the test. ( and he made whoever passed his test get housing) 2- Ms Taylor not only does this woman have ADHD and talk in circles, she makes it hard to pass her class because we had an assignment to ask ChatGBT about black and brown communities. I did EXACTLY what the steps said to do, and she still failed me, saying I didn't follow them. And she always kept saying, "You're paying me to teach you this." Mind you, the class is only there because the delinquents before that year didn't know how to send emails. All the things she yapped about, I already learned in English 2. 3- the people are ghetto, straight up, people will bang on your doors talking about come to the "party" and the party is them in the parking lot with a speaker... and they blast music after quiet hours 4- ALL freshmen have the same major, which is ridiculous 5- The food is a hit or miss, I ate the food one time, and I was immediately on the toilet. After that, I never ate their dining hall food again, and I doordashed the whole time. 6- They send messages and emails back so late. I was genuinely surprised how fast the other college I'm going to be attending sent me emails back. At Paul Quinn, you wait days or even weeks for a reply. I went through this even before the Summer Program. In general, this institution is incredibly unprofessional. Not only those things, they charge you 6k for the summer program (which you have to do to go in person), then 8k for the actual semester, which is ridiculous and sketchy. Why am I paying for the summer program you're forcing me to take? Going to any other school would be cheaper than this. And if you live on campus, you HAVE to work for them, like you don't have a choice. If you're loud, ghetto, and uncivilized, then this is the college for you. I thought this would be a completely different experience, but every week that went by made me hate this college even more. Thankfully, I got into another college quickly. read more

Kudos to the Security Dept. of Paul Quinn College. I drove there today to just visit the campus, ride around the Circle and to take a selfie on my sorority's garden. I found out sadly that I couldn't do none of that!!!!! LOL ! The security lady stopped me and said, No, this is a Closed Campus, unless you have an appointment with Administration. I gave her a thumbs up and drove back on Simpson Stuart Rd. But later the same day, I called PQC and left a message with Security. One of my favorite places in the world. There is a vibrancy and spirit of grit that is embedded in the fabric of the institution. It is a place where people clearly care about each other. PQC is also a great place to rent as a venue when classes are in or out of session. They have multiple spaces that could serve well as a conference or summit location; the prices are also quite reasonable. It's one of the largest venues south of I-30 in Dallas.
