Because there were no appointments at Spohn South until August for an upper GI, I had it done at DeTar Navarro in Victoria on May 18. Since then I have waited for a call concerning having an endoscopy with Dr Martin. I have called numerous times only to be sent to voice mail boxes that are full. I finally spoke with Jared a couple of weeks ago and he said my referral was expired. Could I come in for another apartment. I said no, and he promised to speak to Dr Martin and get back to me. I could barely care for my four little ones or myself. I called his office in the morning, and he worked me in. When he checked my ears, he declared that had I had to wait another day, my eardrums would have ruptured, as the infection was very severe. He did a procedure on my ears, in the office, to help relieve the intense pressure, and prescribed the proper medications. I am so grateful he worked me in, despite his busy schedule. Basically, Dr. Oshman saved Christmas for me and my family! And my hearing! My follow-up visit 8 days later went equally as wonderfully. He is an amazing ENT doctor!

With very little notice we were dropped as patients because the physician chose to go with conviva and they no longer were able to take our Blue Cross Blue shield insurance. I can say personally that it took me a long time in order to trust my physician and I finally was able to manage that with these doctors. I had a wonderful relationship with Dr Laura Soler and now I feel cheated out of the medical care that my husband and I deserve. However, because of this doctor's greed, we were forced to find another doctor. The problem then was that all the doctors in Portland Texas had very long waiting lists in order to become a new patient. Due to our medical needs, we were unable to wait on the waiting list that these other doctors required. My husband and I are both on multiple prescription medications and the only place that we were able to find was bridgepoint family medicine that is run by nurse practitioners. LeWe are now having to get sent out on referrals for all of our problems because the nurse practitioners are unable to manage our needs. We are now having to pay a lot more money out of pocket for our medical needs because now we are being required to see multiple different specialists to manage our needs. If I could give this company less than the one star rating at this time I would. I have to say it again that it was extremely disappointing on how we were no longer good enough to be patients at this office.

Dr. Mertz sets his patients at ease. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, offers prevention advice, and has a very proficient practice. The paperwork that is shared with the patient is modern and easy to follow. The admin help visibly work off the options of the health insurance I am using. The low waiting times with the waiting room and exam room have been impressive versus what I read of elsewhere. The overall operation is set up to run efficiently, which is too rare in the healthcare industry. The waiting area is large, clean and well-kept. Luckily I found Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi and was accepted as a new patient. That was about six months ago. Both my wife and I switched to Dr. Mertz. Dr. Mertz is fantastic. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, and has a very proficient practice. Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Mertz several times since becoming his patients and every time we only spent five to ten minutes in the waiting room and only a couple minutes in the exam room before Dr. Mertz came in. I only wish I had found Dr. Mertz when I retired to Corpus Christi in 2005. My life would have been much better from a medical standpoint. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his staff and the waiting area. His staff is wonderful in every regard. And the waiting area is large and clean.
