We have a project in process, and had a few quotes but wanted a few more, so we took to Facebook to request contractors. Within minutes, we received a message from these folks claiming to have insurance, be reputable and have great references. The owner, Mike, called me within 30 minutes to set up a time to come. When my husband contacted Mike to arrange the meeting, he said Mike was "flustered" and agreed to "see you Saturday" and tried to hurry off the phone, before my husband even provided our address (red flag #1). The day he was to come, my husband waited for an hour - no show, no call. Finally, Mike called me and explained that he didn't have his appointment book, he had a job from Friday that went longer than expected (seems irrelevant to a Saturday morning appointment) and he "doesn't usually miss appointments and would like to reschedule for Sunday 10AM. I said that's fine - mistakes happen. Come Sunday morning, we are waiting for his arrival. I get a voicemail from a CA area code (we are in PA), and a man named Todd who claimed to be from Three Rivers Contracting was calling to let me know that Mike forgot about our appointment today and he also forgot that he's going to the 1PM Steeler game today, and that coming at 1-2PM would work better for him. I called back to let Troy know that Mike already blew us off once, and that my husband and I are also attending the 1PM Steeler game which was why we agreed to meet this morning at 10AM. Also, not sure how Mike could come to our home at 1-2PM if he is at a Steeler game during that time? I don't appreciate someone wasting our valuable time, and trying to feed us a crock of bull simply because they are irresponsible. I have since read a few similar reviews and wanted to make homeowners aware. Stick to hiring people you have reliable referrals for. Three Rivers Contracting is the type of company that gives other contractors a bad name. I'm actually glad this happened prior to us potentially hiring him. If you can't even show up for an estimate for a job, how can you be expected to show up for a JOB?!
