We came here on a whim, since our gym is down the street and we needed dinner before we went to exercise. This pub is part of downtown upland, so there is sporadic parking located in surrounding areas. You'd get parking in the front if you're very lucky. As we walked in, we noticed some patrons sitting outside with drinks. We walked in, and the bar area with the bartender was quite packed. So packed, we couldn't walk towards the back. Luckily, the barista announced to us there's a server in the back and self served seating. When the patrons heard that, only then did the make room for us to walk through. We seated ourselves in the back near the kitchen, where a server named Danny was sweet enough to help us out. He had gotten us two IPAs and a margarita pizza. He also let us sample an additional IPA, since we were quite torn between two. He was very sweet and humorous, so shout out to him! He made our visit amazing! As for the pizza, I wasn't very impressed. Although I liked the dough, the pizza itself was quite plain. I've had some fantastic margarita pizzas, and perhaps this wasn't it. We promised Danny that we'd be back to try a different one, because he swears by it! Overall, the decor was quite interesting. I enjoyed seeing all the street signs and the alternative rock music they had playing. We will be back, as promised, when we crave another pizza. read more

Stay for the food, leave because of the racism Only leaving one star for the pizza AT BEST. We didn't feel welcomed and had a few people give us dirty looks like we were tracking in mud on their beautiful floors. They made sure we didn't want to come back. The pizza and meatball sandwich is very good here. It's one of our go to places. Love the speakeasy ish decor also.

The good: Cheesy garlic bread and pizza loved by all. The bad: my "chicken Parmesan sandwich" the chicken inside was clearly frozen chicken tenders. Rubbery and not great. Against my advice my daughter ordered the fettuccini (she's used to Eddie's) it was so bland she didn't care to take her leftovers and neither did I. It was kind of peppery, but none of that creamy cheesy flavor, you know? Also the service was kind of nonexistent for the first 20 minutes we were there. I think they only had the bartender there and the place was pretty full. Once another waiter clocked in we were much better taken care of. It's very much a dive bar probably not the best place for a fam, but everyone was really friendly. I hear the meatball sub is good so I might get that if I go again. Stick to more basic stuff. Don't order anything fancy and it's probably fine. read more

My husband and I had a very negative experience associated with this business. After visiting, my husband accidentally left his ATM card behind. He called right away to let them know, and the person who answered confirmed they had his card and said they would hold it for him. He ld them he would come by later that week to pick it up. Shortly after that call, he noticed his ATM card was being used for fraudulent purchases. he Immediately reported the fraud to our bank. he then called the business back, asked to speak to a manager, and explained that his card had been left there and was now being used fraudulently. At that point, he was told they no longer had the card and that a manager would call him the next day. It has now been over three weeks, and he still hasn't received a call or any follow-up. This situation caused a huge amount of stress, time, and inconvenience. He reached out hoping for some level of concern or accountability, but the response was extremely disappointing. Please be extremely cautious with your personal belongings if you choose to visit, and make sure to close your tab as you go and never leave your AtM or credit card. I wouldn't trust their employees . Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place. read more

I loved this place. We're finally exploring the Downtown Upland area. It's so cool and dark inside. Love the decor. Lots of t.v.s to view sports. The food was amazing. Definitely try the portabella pizza. My daughter was excited to see the gooey cheese on her pizza. We will be back to try more yummy food- if I can part from the portabella pizza. Sucks to have to write this but here we go... I am a long time customer of Paulie's. I've dropped literally hundreds of dollars here... made lots of friends, had lots of great memories. But now, thanks to DANIEL, I will never be returning. Long story short, one night I ran short on my bill. Daniel said he would cover it. I told him I would Zelle him the next day. He paid a $30 tab, I gave him $45. Paid, right? Plus a fat tip. Fast forward a few weeks later, I come in intending to be in a safe space with good people. I bought a few drinks. Realized my card was shut down. Daniel wouldn't let me leave until it was paid. I cried outside, stuck. Someone offered to pay my tab. I let them. Fast forward to last night- I come in with my boyfriend (and plenty of money) for some food. Maybe a beer. I go in, won't be served. Emma, who was off the clock, informed that I would need to pay in full first. Sure, fine, I had cash in hand. I asked if I could put in an order. Essentially, she said no. I said ok, I'll have my boyfriend do it. He goes in and orders food, but tells HIM they will no longer be serving me alcohol. Lolllll thanks Daniel and Emma! I was just at paulys and had the worst experience ever from after work drinks with my coworker. Daniel the bartender assaulted me when he threw a napkin at me. Used to love coming here but will stop now after they jip me on thin layer of pastrami that doesn't even cover over the bread. Big loafy bread but thought they'd give at least a small stack of pastrami. isn't worth $20 bucks for all bread and small amount of pastrami. One of the coolest places in Historic Downtown Upland. They have subs, pizzas, salads, etc. This place has a lot of charm. I got to meet Paulie! Super nice man and we spoke for about 15 minutes. This place has been around a long time. The decor and rustic feel is really nice. I didn't have a lot of time today, was mostly passing through, but I will be coming back in a few weeks. I ordered a pepperoni pizza for pick up. Didn't check it because previously I ordered one from here and it was delicious. When I got home and opened the pizza it was dominantly burnt. While I do enjoy a little toasty pizza this one was not it. I brought this home for dinner and my kids immediately starting commenting on how burnt it was and refusing to eat. I called Paulies to let them know and the girl answered "I checked it myself and it looked fine." She offered to make the pizza again which is fine but I'm trying to stick to my schedule and get my kids to bed. I don't have an extra 20-30 minutes to wait for another pizza to be cooked. I made the kids give it a try and I ate myself. I cut the roof of my mouth within a few bites. I'm sorry to write this review because for many years we've been going. It's a Sunday early evening. It was a bit busy. One waiter. It took 20 mins for him to come and asked what we like to drink. We gave him our order. Salad & large Paulas special. 40 mins later we got our salad. I think I could see our pizza sitting in back of the oven. When it came out, omg, it wasn't hot & crust was like a store bought cracker with no crust. I told the waiter but at this time I wasn't going to wait for another pizza. Their pizza sauce is fantastic. The setting includes a cool bar, alongside seating that's good for parties up to about 4 ( I'm sure they could move seats to make larger groups happy. I forget the bartender' name, but she was fun, friendly, and didn't lie when she bragged on the delicious pizza they served. It's an easy walking distance from the Upland Metrolink Station; so you'd have a good time hanging out for a good lunch or dinner. Oh! A little place hidden in downtown Upland. I tried the pizza and pasta which was very good and filling at the bar. But the highlight was the cheese bread it reminded me of how we made them growing up. Our server was horrible! His name is Anthony and he appeared shady and I believe he was racist. When it was time to pay, we handed Anthony our credit card. I watched Anthony put the card in his pocket, went to the back somewhere, and then came back to take orders, and then went to the bar to get drinks. My husband and I were waiting for a long time, and he kept ignoring us. All we wanted to do was pay and leave. Anthony kept walking by us, and continued to ignore us. We even stood up, he intentionally avoided looking at us or walking our way. We tried flagging him down, and he still ignored us. Finally, we asked another server, for our card. The server went to Anthony and he LIED and said he didn't get our credit card. We were pissed! How could he lie about taking our credit card? Who knows what he did with the credit card numbers. At this point, I wanted to cry because I was so mad. FINALLY, Anthony came out, handed the card to my husband without even looking at him, and walked off. There was no "thank you" or any acknowledgement from him. My husband and I are Hispanic, and we felt like Anthony treated us horribly because of our race. He was so rude and such an awful person. A local staple! Always love coming here! Service is always fast and friendly and the vibes are so relaxed and chill. Plenty of locals no matter what time of day. We have come for lunch on a Sunday or evening on a Friday night. There are plenty of seating inside, in the back and front of the place. Drinks are reasonably priced and strong . But the food stole the show for me. We loved their pizza bread, their pizza's are amazing ! The crust is crispy and fluffy at the same time and not to overwhelming with sauce or toppings. One of the best pizzas I've had. Been on a search for a great pizza spot and this is it! Meatball sub was sooooo good too! Cheese bread too. The back of the bar is just clutter and looks dirty. My friend's drink cup had old lipstick on the rim totally disgusting. NOT only was the front of the bar needing some management skills the owner who was in fact there could use some help as well. If your employees are struggling, and traffic is busy help your bar out. If you don't look like a total alcoholic, the bartenders will ignore you. Went to pick up my pizza to go and apparently I turned invisible. I had to flag down a server in the back who told me the bar would help me. Well that's not happening, so he asked her to ring me up which she had no problem doing, then Ignoring me again. I saw my pizza just chillin on top of a shelf so I said "I'm Assuming this is mine" to which the server became pizza security and asked me my name to verify it was my pie which I had already stated that's what I was here for.
