when I was about 13 years old, I would go here all the time. me and my friends became regular customers and often chatted with the owner. it's been a few years now and I think it's about time I left a review.
sold items at incredibly high prices, but he would say he was doing us a favour by instead of selling us an item for like 80 dollars he'd sell it to us for around 40 or 60 dollars instead since we were nice/cool/whatever excuse. i remember even at that time I thought it was weird how he would sell us items usually 30$ cheaper than the original price just because we were "such nice kids". Now you might think "maybe he was just being nice?", if he was selling us items for 30 to 40 dollars less, assuming he was doing this to every "nice" customer that walked through the door, he'd be running a charity. Now a year or two later, thanks to Paul's vintage, my brother (he also was a loyal customer, even more than me) had started being really into vintage items and searched for vintage items himself, what we discovered was that the prices he told us some of the items costed didn't align with the market value. I won't tell any business owner how to run their business since it's their business, I'm just sharing my experience on this, business owners can do whatever with their prices, just be aware.
we still have some of the items, and I know that my friends still have their coats that they bought from there. Paul's vintage is an incredible nostalgic place for me, I used to go there during all seasons because I loved it so much, which is why it pains me to write such a negative review, which is why I'm leaving a two star instead of a one star review.
taking advantage of kids naivety, telling us we were the best customers,
telling us he was doing us a favour, not cool. it's incredibly disappointing to know a local business which I loved was taking advantage of their customers, especially underaged ones.
I'm not sure how he runs the business now. I'm not sure if he's become more honest, but I want to repeat this was my experience at the time, take my review as you will. read more
