Be careful. Waited 45 minutes into my appointment, no doctor came so I left. Asked them to reverse the $2200 that I paid on my way in, they issued a refund that had to be "approved by manager". This happened on April 24th, it is now May 4th and I still have not received my refund. They are seriously attempting to rip me off $2200. Left 3 messages with no return call. I will escalate and warn all to stay away. They're corporate, the goal is upsell and keep money even if it doesn't belong to them. read more

They are scammers. I took my parents here. My mom has Medicare and it covers 2 free cleanings per year. Every time mom comes in they up change her. I went with her this time to make sure they don't do it. Told them up front - she wants the cleaning that is covered by insurance; they said yes and at the end of appointment, they still charged her again. Do not go! Horrible service ... Do not go to this dentist. I went as a new patient for a simple cleaning. They did x rays, then the dental hygienist told me that I had severe plaque build up in my back teeth and I needed a scaling procedure done. I waited another 10 mins for the dentist, and he told me the same thing. I go to the dentist on a regular basis and have never been told this by another dentist. I told him I only wanted a cleaning today and I would schedule the scaling for another time. He sent the office manager in to talk to me. The office manager tells me that it's going to cost $700 for the scaling procedure. I repeated that I don't want to do the procedure today and just wanted the cleaning I was scheduled for. At this point I have been there for an hour. The office manager told me the dentist was only available for the scaling and there wasn't a dental hygienist available for a cleaning for another hour and a half. I was very upset because I was there for a cleaning, so why wouldn't there be a dental hygienist available to clean my teeth? They made me schedule another appointment just to have my teeth cleaned and continued pressuring me about the scaling. I was there for over an hour and they didn't even clean my teeth. This was a total scam and I won't be coming back. read more

My family and I have been loyal patients of this dental office for several years, consistently benefiting from the high level of care provided by Dr. Vest. However, over time, I've encountered recurring issues with the front office staff that I initially overlooked due to the quality of care. Unfortunately, these concerns have now reached a point where they can no longer be ignored. Today, upon arriving for an appointment I scheduled over six months ago, I was informed by the elderly receptionist--who has previously caused similar issues--that I was required to answer their call to confirm my appointment by phone. This has never been a requirement in the past, and my busy schedule doesn't allow for a confirmation call to take priority. Given that I scheduled the appointment months in advance, and I have never missed an appointment, nor did I call to cancel or reschedule this appointment, I believe the appointment should remain confirmed by default. To my surprise, I was told that failure to answer her call next time could result in cancellation. I find this policy both disruptive and unreasonable, especially given my consistent record of keeping appointments. It feels unnecessarily rigid and dismissive of my long-standing commitment as a patient. When I later called to request speaking with someone above the office manager or directly with Dr. Vest, I was told that no one else was available to address my concerns. The office manager's refusal to escalate my issue to upper management or the practice owner is unprofessional and frustrating. It feels as though the staff is actively avoiding accountability, which only adds to the frustration and diminishes the overall patient experience. While Dr. Vest is an exceptional dentist, the office procedures and communication under current management need significant improvement. A more patient-centered approach, along with a clearer process for addressing concerns, would enhance the experience for long-time patients and help prevent future frustrations. Finally, a note to Dr. Vest: I initially sought to address my concerns directly with you, hoping to inform you of my concerns privately. However, your office staff declined to facilitate communication, leaving me with no option but to share my honest feedback online. I believe this situation highlights a need for improvement in the office's professionalism, and I respectfully suggest considering additional training for your team to enhance customer service and communication moving forward. Dr. Vest is an outstanding dentist, and I would highly recommend his services--provided patients are prepared to navigate the habitual challenges posed by the office staff. read more

My caveat here is, " I've only just begun... " I stepped into their office and was treated in a friendly manner by the receptionist. I had X-rays done. Then, the dental hygienist, Ms. Patel, did a very thorough job of cleaning my teeth. I was SO happy about that! She was detailed and exact. Briefly, I talked with Dr. Vest. He was affable and speaks English well. (I had had brusque foreign doctors in the past.) Anyway, He very patiently explained the treatment plan which was appreciated! He also analyzed my dental issues astutely. So now I'll save up money for the Step 2 of the treatment plan. This involves an oral surgeon. My experience was very positive so far, so good! I've gone back and forth about leaving this review, but after multiple negative experiences, I feel it's necessary, especially for anyone considering this office. I initially came in needing an extraction ONLY to address an infection that has progressively gotten worse. Despite making it clear that I wanted a straightforward extraction, I was called in for a "quick scan" so they could reassess the tooth (again). I arranged a babysitter and made time out of my day, thinking they were finally taking the urgency seriously. But after the scan? Silence. No follow-up. No sense of priority, despite me expressing repeatedly that the tooth was worsening. It honestly felt like once they realized I wasn't going to opt into thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary procedures, they lost interest. I can't shake the impression that unless they see a big financial return, they're simply not invested in your care. The entire experience gave me "dealership" vibes; upselling, and impersonal. In the process, I've wasted time, gas, and money arranging child care for appointments that led to nowhere. It's been almost 30 days and no follow up, or updates. And yes, the other reviews are right: some of the staff, particularly a few dentists, are far from warm or welcoming--it feels like a transactional money grab. The office makes you think you NEED to have all these procedures done without informing you there are cheaper options that are available to you. Instead they will say "we can offer you a payment plan." I had high hopes and tried to be patient. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but my tooth has only worsened and is now starting to ache. I've now started the process of switching providers through my insurance because I can't in good conscience support a practice that shows so little regard for basic care. SCAM ALERT!! I've gone to the same dental office for over 40 yrs. My husband's job changed, and I was forced to find a different dental office. I get my teeth cleaned every six months, and X-rays yearly. I have never had any issues. I've never had a crown, root canal, I'm a pretty simple patient. I chose Pavilions, based on location. I had an appointment for X-rays and a cleaning. When I arrived, front desk was friendly, and got me in quickly for X-rays. Once it's time to start my cleaning, I was told I had several back teeth with "bone loss" and I needed a "deep cleaning " The hygienist, Priti, was very friendly and willing to move her patients around to do my "deep cleaning" Dr Vest, also came in and a did the gum count, and conquered with the hygienist. I was shocked, and was completely put on the spot and felt very pressured to have this deep cleaning. At first I thought, wow, my dentist of 40 years has not once mentioned I have bone loss! After the office manager, dentist, and hygienist, all pressured me to have the deep cleaning, I caved and did it. I was charged $720!! When I came home, it didn't sit well with me. I started reading Yelp reviews, and found out this is a standard practice for this office. I had my X-ray's sent to my original dentist office. My dentist was nice enough to see me free of charge and do the gum count/bone loss count on me again. You guessed it. I had absolutely no need for a $720, deep cleaning. Pavilions said I had 5&6 in my back teeth. My dentist said my highest number was a 3, and did not require a very expensive deep cleaning. I have filed a grievance with Pavilions, and hope to get all my money back. This office is just looking to make money anyway they can. I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

Billing department is impossible to reach. Got a bill that I owed $70 and I called to verify why my insurance did not cover the service. I was told that it was covered and that it was an error and I did not owe anything. I continued getting the letters and kept calling to find out why it was not fixed and kept getting the run around and told again that I did not owe the money and did not have to pay it. Now I am getting messages from debt collectors for the $70 that Pavilions staff told me I did not owe in the first place. I have called multiple times and the manager is never there and they never call back. read more

They were so helpful and thorough in helping me get the care and referrals I need for wisdom teeth extraction. After imaging and being seen by Dr. Pitel for consultation I was given a quote for everything I would need to pay out of pocket and everything my insurance (DeltaCare USA) would cover. I was worried about how I can figure out dental care at this facility for my kids (ages 4&2). They work with referring kiddos to a pediatric dentist at the same plaza. I just moved to the Sacramento area and finding a reputable dentist has been a challenge to say the least. I was hesitant to go to a dental group as opposed to finding a private practice, because I've heard horror stories. Unfortunately, I was 1 months overdue for my cleaning so I decided to take a chance here. Scheduling was easy and the front desk staff was pleasant. The minute I walked into this place, I could tell this was a business run to turn as many patients in the shortest amount of time possible, to maximize profits. It was busy with no private rooms. I was told I was going to receive an exam and teeth cleaning, and that they would take X-rays since this was my first visit. I was pulled back by Valentina who was lovely, she did all of my X-rays in a room with no door, and was adjacent to the waiting area so anyone can watch you getting imaging done. Not ideal. Once imaging was complete, she walked me into another dental room and I sat down in the chair where I waited for "Dr. Patel" to come in for my exam. She came in and wasn't particularly warm and spent 1-2 minutes looking a my teeth and bite. Spoke with me a bit about teeth clenching and the recommendation for a night guard. She told me they were checking with the front desk to see if my insurance covered a cleaning and get me a quote for the night guard. A minute later, Valentina came back in with a small machine that she plugged in and they told me they could conduct my cleaning. BOTH of them did my cleaning. So odd...both of them had 2 hands in my mouth at one time and the "Dr" simply used the water pick to clean around my teeth and after, Valentina polished my teeth(quite aggressively I might add) and flossed me. That was it. No scaling to remove plaque buildup...it was a very odd experience to say the least and I don't have much hope fory oral health if I continued going here. Also, they have a "benefits coordinator" that comes in to discuss costs with you, which is also quite strange to me. In any event, I am not surprised by the negative reviews on the quality of work at this place and question the credentials of their dentists and hygienists. Ashley took my X-rays and was so professional and explained everything she was doing. Brittany at the front desk was so kind and helpful with scheduling and insurance questions. Great team and office location. The office feels clean and high-end. The other team members were fantastic as well. I mixed up the time of my appointment and showed up several hours early, and they were able to accommodate me anyways. TL;DR: I don't come here for the lacking front desk staff, I come here for Dr.Liem. If you can't get past their shorty customer service at the front, you'd be sure to find a great DMD. I've seen some mixed reviews about this place and understandable as to why they have the reviews that they have- people don't like going to the dentist. I sure don't. Nevertheless. Dr. Lien makes the process of this generally painless (no pun intended). She is always very communicative and I'm pleased to say that I like this dentist! With that being said,I will say the general consensus about the front desk staff is pretty correct. After going to a place that was actually family friendly. It is clear that this is a small part of a larger machine. They aren't a small or private practice. So yes. Their main goal is money, the insurance side of things is always a bit brash. But also understandably so. I will venture to say that the front desk staff coule certainly use some tech training but also use some communication skills training. I'm not impressed with the way that they communicate with people. And their inability to do simple tech savvy tasks is concerning sometimes. read more

I've been to Pavillions Dental Group a few times and have had generally good experiences. The first time I went in for a cleaning and because of some tooth pain. My appointment was with Dr. Liem and she was fantastic. She was transparent with what she was doing as she was checking on my gums and teeth and was great and explaining why she was doing what she was doing. She explained that I would need a root canal in the future but did what she could to mitigate the pain, which she did. A month later I went in for a root canal which never sounds like fun. However, Dr. Sappal and the dental assistant (I forgot her name) made sure I was doing okay during the procedure and made me as comfortable as possible. They even let me pick out the music that they played during the procedure which was very nice. The aftercare instructions they provided were very clear as well. While things like a root canal and crown can add up, Rachel at the front desk was good about letting me know what my out-of-pocket cost would be after insurance coverage and explained the different payment options. They have a financing option that's available or if you prefer a payment plan you can do that as well. The payment process was seamless in my opinion. I also appreciated that they double checked with insurance beforehand and communicated with me if I needed to do anything on my end to make sure my root canal was taken care of financially. While I'm hoping I don't have to go in for any more root canals or bigger procedures, I'm glad I've found a dentist that I trust my teeth with. read more

Called to schedule an appointment for wisdom teeth removal stating I was in pain. Spoke with with Brittany and was told I can come in on a particular day and receive a call before telling me the cost once my dentist emailed them I'm the info (which I did immediately) After not hearing anything back, I called and I spoke with DEBORAH and was told I never had an appointment and was hung up on, not even asking any other questions. Had work done here 5 years ago. It's all falling out now leaving holes in my teeth. Floss caught on it and yanked out the fillings! Brushing pulled out pieces of fillings! Never had that happen in my life. Still have fillings from other dentists from when I was a kid that stood the test of time 35 years later. Now I have to pay again for someone else to fix the mess they made.Thanks for nothing. So they won't stop texting and emailing me trying to get me to come back.. just advertising. I got a lady on the phone. Told them to either fix their mess or leave me alone. I told her I'd left this review on Yelp. What they'd done to me. How they ripped me off. Everything. I told everything here to a lady from their office on the phone. I said fix it or don't bother me again. She said she's let the office manager know, never heard anything back. That should tell you something when a business won't even take responsibility for their actions or even TRY to make it right. Told her I'd have to pay again to go to another dentist to fix what they botched. It's been two weeks. Never heard back. Nothing. Arrived for my appointment for 8 AM which at first when scheduling I was hesitant due to my children needing to get to school- i had to arrange transportation for my young children to find out when I arrived at 7:45 AM to be told "Oh your appointment is not till 9 AM! I have a witness which is my husband whom was present when i made this call- we both had to show up late to work and move our schedule around to make do" I run a office and know how scheduling works - they could of been straight up and say the dentist is running late but instead lets make the client feel as if they were in the wrong- Disgusted , speechless and the women who scheduled my appointment should be reprimanded . No apology was made instead she said well you can wait here for an hour until your appointment! WOW!! Husband went there as a new client due to a change in his dental insurance. He was told that he needed a deep gum cleaning, a few cavities filled and a root canal/ crown. Thousands of $$ of work to be done. He was shocked and was NOT shown his X-rays. Then he went to see my dentist. None of that was true. They always offer to show X-rays here...no issues at all. The way receptionists handle their patients speaks volumes for how a company is run and what their true values are. In a medical or dental setting, it is crucial as a receptionist that you show your patients kindness and respect while you help them navigate what service is right for them, what the costs will be, etc. I have never spoke to a more rude set of receptionists then those working at Pavilion, especially Deborah. Every time I've spoke to these receptionists, I've been rushed, hung up on abruptly, gaslighted about costs / appointment scheduling issues on their part, etc. They are always very blunt, short, and unhelpful. I am lost on how such ignorant ladies with such an obvious lack of etiquette could land receptionist jobs. I, just as the other patients in past reviews, have left these phone calls in tears. She would show him the tool she was going to use and what she was going to do on his hand first and then he got to do it to his hand before she proceeded to do it in his mouth. Saw Dr Best for a fractured molar. He gives me three options, extraction, root canal or partials. So, I either lose an important chewing tooth, or pay high dollar for the other procedures. Since i couldn't afford the expensive procedures, i made an appointment for the extraction due to increased pain. Thankfully, another (trustworthy) dentist gave me a free consultation and told me all it needs is a filling! And viola, i can save the tooth within my budget!!
