When you make the reservation (and you really should make a reservation), you choose where you want to dine. The menu also differs, depending on where you sit. On the ground floor, that's the restaurant. I've dined there the most. I love trying their cocktails and their bitterballen aren't that bad. You almost can't go wrong with the dish that you choose; they also change and rotate so it might already be a different menu. I sat upstairs once. It was a small plates sharing menu with more cocktails to try! In other words, it was a more extensive cocktail menu. Every time I've been the food and the cocktails have been excellent. They also have beer in case you just want to do that. The decor is fun and quirky with an Indiana Jones/Jungle Cruise flavor. I would highly recommend getting a reservation if you're in Groningen.

Eenmaal aangekomen waren de ronde tafels zo ruim dat hier makkelijk 2 stoelen bij konden. Na overleg was dit geen probleem dus uiteindelijk met zijn allen. Het voorgerecht was fantastisch het hoofdgerecht was heerlijk. De hoeveelheid was meer dan genoeg en de bediening super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Prijs kwaliteit is goed. En we hebben een super gezellige avond gehad.

I highly doubt that they changed their mind. They seemed quite embarrassed after the ordeal. Truly unacceptable. As for a weekday it was pretty busy. All the staff appeared friendly and not too mention an Italian guy looking as a Chef or perhaps the owner popping up a couple of times and chatting with customers. For starter I had Antipasti Fantasia: nicely dressed smoked salmon and small shrimps under mayonnaise sauce with some herbs. A really good start! I asked for some bread for it but didn't get it. Another waitress recollected this when I was done with the dish. For main course I had a Day's special i.e. Lasagna con frutti di mare - perhaps the portion is not huge but it is worth the effort, I tell you. Dessert: Huge (self)disappointment! Here came out my lack of awareness of local culture. I ordered wonderfully and thrilling sounding Amarenensorbet and as a result I needed to face a nicely looking cup of MILK ice-cream with whipped cream and sour cherries that the latter I love but it was not I'd meant when ordering. (Referring to Wikipedia afterwards; Although the term sorbet in the Netherlands is used for a long time for a coupe of ice consisting of scoops ice cream, topped with fruit sauce and served with fruit and whipped cream, this meaning in the better restaurants disappeared for many years.
