A few tips and tricks for those visiting: They ask you leave your backpacks and purses downstairs in the provided lockers. The elevator system isn't great, and will always stop at the lobby, no matter what you push, so it's a time consuming process to use it. The restrooms look like they should be pull doors, but they're actually push. It's the oddest thing and the honey and I were both tripped up by it. Overall, we both really enjoyed the museum, much more than the famous Prado, and would highly recommend stopping in if you're visiting Zurich, especially if it happens to be a Wednesday.

It is free on Wednesdays, but that does not include entry to special exhibitions. What makes things worse is that roughly half the collection is currently closed due to a fire. The depth and breadth of the museum's collection of artifacts is as impressive as the stunning and voluminous collection of landmark posters. The furniture area was also very cool. It's also one of the least-expensive thing you'll do in Zürich. Yes, it isn't a huge museum, but the entrance price is ultra-reasonable, with discounts for students and seniors.

There's a "Back in 15 Minutes" post-it on the door, but two people working inside; chatted with one, he wasn't enthusiastic about letting people in so close to closing. I was still waiting for the other three in my group, so I didn't push, and waited outside. A few minutes later, we're all here --- and the doors are locked, and the staff is nowhere to be seen. Not inside, not answering the phone, not out back for a smoke. We wait 15 minutes. Eventually, he shows up and (with some encouragement) lets us in. The exhibition is nice --- four different artists, with some similarities but distinct styles --- but it shouldn't be this hard to visit an art gallery.
