This dollar store is pretty standard. Has all the usual stuff that all dollar stores have. I would say that nothing really stood out for me except they had this candy from Sunkist that I never saw before - fruit jujubes covered in dark chocolate. The jujubes were exotic flavours like coconut- lime, blackberry-grape and orange-mango. Obviously I bought a bag and ate it walking back to the hotel, lol. They were pretty good, and fresh, not stale like some candies at some dollar stores. It's walking distance from the Best Western Hotel, so good if you need to buy stuff like an emergency sewing kit, or some socks or something like that.

I was outside the front door where a lady was yelling and screaming. She was smoking a pipe. Employees just stood by. The fact that this is just so normal to everyone there scares me. There are two floors to this shop - today the second floor was wedding themed, which was amazing. There were also formal dresses, jewellery, handbags and suits on display upstairs - anything you might need if you were going to or planning a wedding. It was fun poking through the wedding dresses and seeing right in front of you how much styles have changed throughout the decades! Downstairs there is a "front" that has racks of clothing and some jewellery and in the back, you'll find some homewares and yet even more clothing. Shoes, winter coats, and kids clothes are back there. The prices at Hand in Hand are amazing!! You won't find any almost-full-price goods here. If the item wasn't priced it was $4, and Friday's are student discount days! (Good to know!) We found an amazing hot pink pineapple print dress...definitely not for me, but one of our friends was so excited to be getting it. This is the kind of thrift store I enjoy being in - it really feels like you could find rare treasures here if you just had enough time.

Adorable prints? Jewellery dishes shaped like woodland animals? And then the jewellery itself that is just so gorgeous, it's hard not to want a little bit of everything. After a…read moreday of shopping the south shore, inundated by stereotypical 'maritime' crap that I just can't get down with, I almost let out an audible cry of happiness when I walked into this brand new addition to the Lunenburg scene. The modern, open and bright space really let the products on the shelves shine rather than forcing customers into an awkward stumble through overpacked aisles of random nick-knacks. Within seconds of seeing all the inspiring and adorable prints, handmade pillows and stuffed toys, quirky greeting cards and stationery, and tons more, I knew I was in trouble. Much like a similar store in Halifax (Love, Me Boutique), I just wanted it all. And that's okay...because every purchase helps support a legitimate local artist or crafter which makes me feel MUCH better about gift-giving than just picking up your average mass-produced 'Authentic Nova Scotian' anything. Besides, there were so many great products available for less than $20 which makes it easy to do some damage without having to hate yourself for it later. I will absolutely be back. Whoever does the merchandising for Kept knows what they're doing, I'll say that for sure! If you're looking for local gifts, they've got some local products in here too. I noted some local card makers up on the second floor - if it can be counted as a second floor? - and Rousseau's has chocolates there, for instance. Walking in you can tell the age of the location as it has that old smell as it reminds me of frenchys with the cloths in bins. Some of them are hung up on racks etc: dresses and coats. I will say they do work hard with trying to fold them neatly but you know those people that love to come and make a mess. I do stop in there as sometimes there can be that rare occasion where something will surprise you.

Well you know I was going to check that out. Normally I do not like Frenchy's stores as I really don't like going through tables of cloths. She told me that this really not like that they actually have new items, tag's on as well used. Well off I go right after I get my hair done and to my surprise I see racks of cloths along the sides, off I go. As well there are table of boots still with the tags on for like under $15 bucks nice ones. Purses displayed at the front counter, some of the names are coach as well as XO and reasonable prices. Wallets and even some jewelry. This is a must for all you that love to shop. Big bang for your buck.

Vainly searching for help to find an item and then rude service at deli counter…read more Searching for a sushi mat, I looked in vain for an associate, finally finding somone at the next Deli meat counter. It was 12:45 and the whole section of the store seemed empty of staff. The associate came back to the counter and there was only one other customer who seemed to be browsing the selections. I said, " I have a quick question " Do you have any sushi mats?" Her counter was just opposite a sushi supply section I had already searched. Despite this she said an abrupt "I don't know but she was here first" in a rude way. I was just looking to have a question answered and didn't think I should wait through a whole slicing meat order first. This person is not an asset to your business but you need to train your staff better and have a policy of asking staff to contact a floor person to come and help when necessary rather than rudely brushing them off. I left the store angry and highly doubt I will be back despite holding credit and loyalty cards from Superstore.
