The store does stand out at the Church Street entrance through the modern sign but as you go into the store, this is another one of those stores (which has happened quite a lot in Liverpool), which feels less modern. This store really differs a lot from Next in Manchester, which has multiple other retailers inside and has more open space and is recently refurbished and includes a restauraunt and Costa coffee, however despite still having a Costa this store is basically the opposite, it feels less cramped without the open space factor I like, the store also felt slightly dirty with stuff on the floor. I also found the lifts in the store hard to find with a lack of signposting needed for a store of its size. The selection was okay but not too impressive. This store doesn't stand out as it should, not only lacking to rivals but other Next stores too with cleanliness and store layout needing huge improvement and many other parts of the store needing minor improvement, to the point I feel Next Liverpool deserves just a two-star rating.

Prices are not cheap nor are they expensive; they lie somewhere in between, so it is quite an average shop that sells average products of fair quality. The strange thing I find about Matalan is why they need to be different from other clothes stores, not that it's a big deal but they are unique because to shop here, you must become a member. You will be issued with a loyalty membership card so you will often gain small benefits after so much spending. If you're the type of person who always buys your clothes at one store, then this is an advantage but if you're not, then there's not really much point. Matalan is the only clothes shop I know where you must sign up in order to buy their products. This can only be a marketing strategy of theirs.

TK Maxx at Manchester Fort is located in a large unit within the retail park, next to Specsavers…read more It is a reasonably large store for two floors, obviously, it does seem a bit like a jumble sale, like all TK Maxx locations, but the store is mostly clean and tidy and easy to navigate, which is good because it was hard to find a staff member on the shop floor to offer assistance. For the size of the store, the selection and fashion never seem to be the best, rather than just OK. There is a small Home section in the store, but nothing on the levels you'd expect to find at Homesense, which is TK Maxx's dedicated homeware brand which seems to have a dwindling number of bricks and mortar locations now. 3* - Reasonable store and a decent size, worth a look in while shopping at Manchester Fort, on the off-chance you might find something, as long as you don't mind a bit of a wait in their queues which always seem long and badly managed.

The staff might no be the most helpful and enthusiastic but the store is usually quiet which makes for easy browsing. Definitely a perfect stop if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful to update your wardrobe.
