If you are looking for a proper English afternoon tea, look no further as this is the most quaint place I've ever been too. All the cakes, sandwiches and scones are simply amazing, top it with a variety of teas to pick from. I order the Full Monty and this is almost enough for two people if you are just snacking. You get two different kinds of sandwiches, two scones that comes with jelly and the most silky butter, a big slice of cake and a pot of tea. I will definitely come back to this place the next time I come back to UK for work.

Staff is always friendly, my fav is the afternoon tea and really any of their herbal teas. I choose a new tea every time I visit. Always a wonderful time at Peacocks!

http://www.peacockstearoom.co.uk/ We'd just been 'round the antique shop next door, and were wandering down towards the river, when my friend said she could do with a cuppa. And there we were, standing right outside Peacock's Tea rooms, so in we went. Accommodated in a picturesque period house, we were seated and served promptly, with grace and efficiency. Aspects of the business are amusingly quirky: - the menu includes funny quotes about tea from novels and films etc.. - the tea is served in none-matching china (and they promise to replace it, if the tea comes in a matching tea set!! lol) - and they promise to give you a free afternoon tea if you find a tea shop that sells a greater variety of teas! They have over 70 varieties of tea from anywhere you can think of! We selected a pot of number 50 (Kenyan), and had a couple of rounds of well-filled sarnies, and a slab of carrot cake to share. All home made. All excellent. All consumed unhurried, in a timeless epoch. People came and went. Drinks, light lunches and afternoon teas were enjoyed. And the atmosphere was convivial. What a delightful experience! It's a wonderful place to tarry a while. So, pop in, if you're in the area. [It regularly receives great reviews and awards: It's Country Living's favourite tea room! http://www.peacockstearoom.co.uk/blog/ And a favourite of the UK tea council too! http://www.tea.co.uk/news_article.php?id=187]

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but what it offers inside is what truly matters…read more.. My wife, son, and I decided to stop in for dinner here after our trip to Ely to see the cathedral, castle mount, and the other touristy offerings of this unassuming English village. (We had a wonderful time perusing the little town, but that's another matter altogether). We saw this place on our way towards the big attractions and decided to give this place a shot on our way out. We are so glad we did... From the front door you are greeted with their small, unassuming bar and a foyer area where you can sit and drink your pint. A few of the locals were there already imbibing and enjoying a few and were helpful in making my selection of what to drink this evening. We arrived at 4pm and had to wait for 5pm for dinner to be served, but no worries, we past the time playing family games they had for offerings while we waited for the dinner time to arrive. Once it did, we each chose what we preferred from the menu. I chose the quintessential Bangers and Mash, while my wife had their steak, and my son had a hamburger on pretzel bun - all of it arrived fast, fresh, and delicious. As an appetizer we picked the mozzarella balls - a bit small but still tasty and still enough for the three of us. For dessert we each had their sticky toffee pudding with chocolate cake and salted caramel ice cream - it was to die for. The indoor decor is classic "British Pub" to me - all the wood tables, chairs, the dim lighting, it all simply looked good. They also have the biggest and most extensive beer garden I have ever laid my eyes upon - easily a place that can cater a big event like a wedding or big-number birthday. (I know I would celebrate one here, without a doubt.) I think the only nit on the place was the service - though friendly and efficient, I wish they had been a bit more attentive - especially since we ate early on what appeared to be a slow Thursday night. Nonetheless, we walked away more than satisfied and happy to have chose this place to spend the latter part of our day at Ely. If you are ever in the area, this is a must-go-and-try...

This is great little spot to take the fam and enjoy a few pints. Love the garden in the back and…read morethe courtesy library. Thanks for giving us such a nice place to relax.
