But when folks in Louisville talk about parks....they tend to talk about the MASSIVE, Olmsted-y, woodsy parks. But these smaller neighborhood parks are just a great, in different ways. This is a generously sized plot of park. Encircled by a paved loop, with every amenity one would expect from a park. Pavilions, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, a community center, benches, picnic tables, and open green space! I like it and I visit it often.

This is in a church, so some of the lessons for the older children will be Bible-centered. It has been the best place for our daughter. I have had several friends grow up in Adventure Club's afterschool care program, then later work for the afterschool care program to finally send their own children to Adventure Club. If that is not a testament to the program, I don't know what is. Henley goes Tuesday-Friday and lights up when she sees her teachers and friends in her classroom. Her teachers are kind, sweet and always willing to answer any questions or concerns I have. There is one particular toddler that stops by every morning to hug Henley's teacher. (The toddler use to be one of the teacher's babies). I love the small sizes (no more than 8 to a room) and the sense of community when we go. Henley is in cloth diapers; this was one of the few daycares we toured that had prior experience with cloth diaper babies. It has a lock system to get into the building. Each parent has their own keyfob or code system. If someone else is picking up the child, they must ring a doorbell to get into the building, sign a sign in sheet and then show ID. However, my husband has been required to show ID, even though he has a keyfob, a few times picking up Henley because the teachers are not as familiar with his face. The outside of the building is equipped with a security camera system. I feel extremely safe having my daughter here.

This very clearly is a community center with busy classrooms and other meetings and trainings taking place. The center houses local organizations like KentuckianaWorks, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, YMCA, Volunteers of America, Park Community Credit Union, Kentucky College of Barbering, the UofL College of Dentistry and Legal Aid Society. And according to its website it offers a technology lab, business center, conference rooms and a full-scale resource center. It has a large parking lot and outdoor seating as well. On the day I visited, it looked like several people were taking meetings outside. There's also a great playground. I pass this center whenever I drop my kid off at school and applaud the services and connections it offers.
