Not being from the area the hubs and I were looking for something to do and since he enjoys playing 21 we decided to hit the casino. The casino was very clean, smelled a little smoky from folks smoking but the smell wasn't as strong as some casinos I've been in. There's a great selection of slots to play as well as card tables. There a steak house at the back of the casino- we were going to try it but they didn't open until 5p and we were there a bit earlier. The staff they we did encounter was nice. If we're ever in the area again we'd definitely stop in.

Photos from today that include a brown substance on the toilet paper. The bathrooms, on both occasions, were disgusting. Moved to a different room and, NO REMOTE!

    Carpet in bedroom

The rooms were awful and the customer service was lacking, front desk staff was incompetent, specifically Jennifer. To be in management and knot know how to read your own system is incomprehensible and to try to overcharge and not let a guest speak is just crazy. Once she realized she was wrong she didnt say sorry, only threw a receipt my waYou would think with all the money spent here gambling the least they could do is have the rooms presentable. I had the first room with water damage on the lamp shades, a dirty sofa, the toilet wouldn't stop running, and a filthy bed skirt ONLY to get changed to another room where the bed skirt was just as nasty, the carpet was stained and the tub was constantly running along with the toilet.

I hate to give bad reviews but this was THEE worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I was here for work and I could not get out of there fast enough. The entire hotel and all of the rooms (even the non smoking rooms) smell like cigarettes. The hallways a spooky and dark. The first room I was put in HAD NO WINDOWS. One of the valet drivers was extremely rude. AND I couldn't find anything to eat inside. The only nice thing in the hotel is their underutilized gym. I should have stayed across the street but I guess we get what we pay for.

This place is disgusting! DO NOT STAY HERE. It's MONDAY night NO ONE IS HERE & I was given the 3rd floor - (view below). I could count the cars in the parking lot - not sure why you wouldn't put a guest as far up as possible for a view (at the very least). Room was minimal clean at BEST. Bathroom- PUKE! (Again- pictures below) That footprint in the bathtub is not mine! Mold around the toilet & along the wall. I am celiac- so I brought my own food, all I needed was a microwave (hopefully a fairly new one that's not CC) .... Room doesn't have one so I called to get one delivered- NOPE! They do not have one that they can send to the room. NOW - I get to eat a COLD leftover dinner I brought from home b/c I have no choice. The word "resort" should be replaced with "motel 6" & I actually apologize to Motel 6.

Horrible slots, slots repeat losing reels over and over. Bonuses don't pay, sometimes Bonuses pay less that what you're betting.

Other than that the golden moon is really nice and has escalators that run across to silver star whom also has a great pool with a waterfall in it.

Lets face it, Philadelphia, Mississippi, is in a rural, backwoods area of Mississippi. Pine trees…read moreand woods are mostly all you see as scenery traveling the highways getting here. Our destination was the Neshoba County Fair, a historic happening in Mississippi that I've heard about all my life but never attended. The fair has been going on since 1889 and features food, fair, entertainment, political speaking, friendly people and harness racing among other activities. When I was growing up, 60 years or so ago, harness racing was a local sport at the fairgrounds in Corinth, Mississippi. Over the years, it has become a rare event around the state and I came here mainly to refresh my memories. As you drive down the highways to Philadelphia, you suddenly do a double take by a most striking architectural sight which seems totally out of place. Shaped like a curving wave that rises to a peak of 20 stories or more with a globe 8 or 10 stories high dangling from the peak. The globe I finally figured out was symbolic of the moon but the overall structure is quite unusual and visually striking. Our reservations were at the Silverstar which is directly across the highway from the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino which is the structure I just described. The Silverstar is an almost identical sized casino and hotel but not as big or unusual. Both casinos are owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and an elevated walkway over the highway connects both of them. All of the land in central Mississippi was once part of the Choctaw Indian nation at the time the United States came into existence. The United States government eventually pressured the Choctaw Indians, over a period of years, to cede over 23 million acres of land to the Federal government. Most of the Choctaws were moved to Oklahoma, west of the Mississippi River, by the 1830's. A small group of Choctaws refused to move to Oklahoma and remained in Mississippi living on 35,000 acres of historic homelands held in trust for the Choctaws by the Federal government. Our visit here was primarily for accommodations. The hotel is very nice, rooms are large, beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are very nice. Everything was clean and first class. I would rate the hotel 4 stars by most any standard. Check in was smooth and staff were friendly. I spent a little time playing slots and my son walked to the Golden Moon and enjoyed the poker gaming. We enjoyed our visit and would return again.

Anxiety that is perpetuated by having anything touch my face. Since the pandemic started, I've worn a full face shield. Face shields have been accepted by the scientific and medical community as being as effective (and sometimes more effective) than a cloth face mask at stopping the spread of COVID-19. My HR department at my company stated any face covering was acceptable, and I have never run into an issue before. Today, I encountered an extremely rude hotel staff member who refused to let me in for only wearing a face shield without a mask. When I explained my situation, he still refused to listen and wouldn't permit me access. Not only that, but I had received my COVID-19 vaccination several weeks ago and had recently tested negative for COVID-19 so there is zero chance of me being able to acquire or transmit the disease!
