I was a patient with Northwest Family healthcare of Van Wert for over a decade, for the most part I…read morefound their care to be marginal. However they were useful for maintaining my access to Baclofen and occasional minor support with my Cervical Arachnoiditis symptoms. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, my Arachnoiditis symptoms were flaring off the scale simultaneously, I was suffering from extreme nerve pain and related symptoms which they were entirely unable to address or even recognize. I attempted to get them to refer me to a neurologist, I had to pester them for months, their refusal to permit access to this specialist was delaying my cancer treatments and they were aware of that. After months of foot dragging I still had to wait for a Nurse Practitioner to return from a 2 week vacation and then book an appointment with her to finally get the referral. I eventually discovered they refused to believe I had Arachnoiditis, would not even write my symptoms into my medical record at my appointments and they refused to do anything at all to help, nothing I could say would inspire them to help me. I have no idea of what they thought the Baclofen prescriptions were being written for, the nurse practitioner most responsible for my abuse had even signed for some of them. I eventually discovered that they had destroyed extremely critical medical records, x-rays and test results I had given them when I became a patient. They had done so without consulting me or even bothering to take notes from them before their destruction. I suspect their reports also damaged my relationship with with other healthcare providers because I was forced to replace them as well. I was entirely unable to make any progress with my conditions until I sought expert assistance on my own and switched healthcare providers. I filed a complaint with the state nursing board over my treatment by them. When I later obtained a copy of my medical records from Northwest Family Healthcare I discovered they had been purged of damaging content. The only effective record I now have from this period are parts of my files previously cut and pasted from my online access because I was forbidden to print them out. This is not something which can be entirely blamed on one individual, although one was more at fault, this was systemic within the organization. Take my word for it, Nightmares Be Here! Steve Rusk

I've been a patient of Dr. Choi's for a few years (since before the practice moved to their current…read morelocation). While I've been generally happy with the care, their telephone hold times are simply unacceptable. My wife and I used some of our mutual downtime to schedule our various doctor visits. In the time that it took my wife to schedule three appointments of her own (with virtually no hold time), I was still on the phone waiting for someone at this office to pick up their phone (and yes, they were open, and yes, I called during normal business non-lunch hours). In fact, only once (over dozens of calls) did I get through to the receptionist in less than few minutes. More often than not, I hung up due to the excessive hold time. In a few cases, I left messages that were never returned. Sitting in this office's waiting room, it's very obvious why this is the case: The primary gal responsible for answering the phone is also constantly running around the office fielding other tasks. This office needs either more staff answering the phone or a receptionist dedicated to only taking calls. I understand that the practice is small (two physicians), but it's not like their rates are any cheaper, so... yeah. The fact that their website is a Google Sites URL (with outdated info) and that there is virtually no other internet presence/reviews for the place I think says a lot. I'm going to have to find a new provider, as there's no point in having a good doctor if you can't get their office on the phone reliably to set up an appointment. Unfortunately, this just looks to me like a few doctors who branched off into their own practice but haven't yet gotten to a standard of service (website, phone, etc.) to be considered serious players. I'd suggest ponying up some cash and fixing a few things on your end... it will pay dividends later. (edit: Yelp would not let me provide a website for the business because the site is on Google Sites. The URL is https://sites.google.com/view/nw-family-healthcare/home).

I will say the change to Endeavor was not positive for NCH. It used to be such a wonderful…read morehospital. Had zero problems and only praise before Endeavor acquired NCH. But now under Endeavor, I can't quite recommend. The hospital food when you're a patient and require overnight stay has definitely downgraded. They used to actually make the food--baked real muffins, cooked real food on stoves. Everything now seems like it's prepackaged in a steam/microwavable bag. For our most recent L&D my husband thought "they can't ruin rotisserie chicken." It was like skinless, boneless chicken breast that they microwaved. Possibly seasoned. But that does not make it a rotisserie chicken--the rotisserie implies it's been spinning in a rotisserie oven. Literally after giving birth, the muffin and cottage cheese I ordered were prepackaged like something you buy at a gas station, and in a little tiny plastic 1/4 cup. After laboring and delivering a human. The hospital is pinching pennies. And after having called over the phone to pay our bills and ensure that our balance was paid, we are still receiving bills saying we have a balance. Every few months later we get new ones. What is this scam? We did have great nurses. That's probably the only good thing about the hospital--but even they have to change their care routines to fit into the expectations of a for profit hospital now compared to before. Such a shame.

The doctors are nice but to resolve any billing issues that are their error is a nightmare. Plus,…read moretheir posted number for the Palatine office is disconnected. When I received a copay bill that I did not owe because I had already met my deductible, the link that goes to the bill gives no contact info for the billing department (no phone number or email). You must go on their website which is a big chain and find the contact information. Then you call and contact someone and tell them you have a billing issue. The person I talked to first (after waiting for the call to pick up for several minutes) gave me the run around about my copay and said I had to talk to my insurance company. After standing my ground, she finally gave me the number to the actual billing department which is what I had asked for in the first place. After contacting that number, I finally got my issue resolved but I was also asked what my account number was as if that was a barrier. I received no paperwork after my visit and nothing on my bill that listed an account number. Fortunately, my bill is erased by I was not even able to receive any verification of that. I hate to waste my short time on earth on the phone with this kind of stuff. I also think it is just not right. I will, however, go out of my way to warn others.
