Selected PHA for my 6 year old son's care after recently moving to the suburbs. I found the staff in general, between desk personnel, nurses and DR, to be pleasant and professional -- no issue. My problem started when I received my bill which charged me $125 for the annual wellness exam. When I called to find out why it wasn't fully covered, I was told that a (routine) question I asked as part of the visit (after being asked if I had any questions), which pertained to my child's care, and was discussed for approximately 2 minutes, was beyond the scope of the exam. My son thankfully is healthy, I take him to the DR once a year. Isn't the point of the visit to not only perform a physical exam but also address any age-appropriate questions / concerns? People should not have to hold back for fear of getting billed Very disappointed in this and unfortunately tracks with some of the other reviews I read. Will be seeking care moving forward somewhere else. read more

Nothing but the best here. Our children were delivered here and they have seen us through many trials. We would never leave willingly.

My daughter have very bad coughing, they "supposed run a test" but nothing comes on the exams. We really worry, they were supposed to send us for a referral for specialist, it's almost day 4 still waiting. Nobody answer the phone or replay voicemail, it's very frustrating and make feel upset that they don't care about my daughter Health. Trash service! read more

Some small, human touches could make a world of difference. While I believe the individuals at this clinic are probably great people, as a group or system, they don't seem to realize the importance of empathizing with children and parents who have unique needs (due to rare lung disease in our case). I'm so disappointed that we can't continue there because no one will take the time and effort to really listen, empathize, and be creative about how to create a win-win situation with his illness and vaccination requirements given his vulnerability. In addition, they gave me a complete runaround on a referral I needed that made lots of sense for my child, so I had to go to my child's specialist to get the referral (easily by the way) after wasting 2.5 hours (since it routinely takes 20-60 minutes to be physically seen despite the ease of the online appt setup) and gaining the stress and frustration of the runaround itself. I'm really disappointed; I'd love to recommend a local place with people who I'm certain have great hearts but seem to have gotten caught up in the system rather than the care in the system of care, or just are too young and inexperienced to realize what makes sense. On the brighter side, they have been responsive for appointment set up and mychart notes, including nurse recommendations when our child was acutely ill, for which I'm grateful. Just cold and robotic when it comes to special needs instead of recognizing there is always opportunity for empathy, creativity, and learning. If anyone sees, cares, listens and responds to this feedback (not to me/social media, but makes a change in the system), then that would be a huge win for other families to come in this area. read more

I love the doctors. Have not been disappointed by any doctor since 2016. On the other hand front desk are the most careless, not customers skills, no help of what's so ever! You have to do their job for everything. They only know how to press a bottom to make appointment other than that forget it. They will not help you with any information or related to your insurance. I only put up with them bcuz I do love the doctors. I remember the time where they know everything about the insurance and will make it easy for parents to find information. Now the young people they have in charge of their front desk are not knowledgeable at all. They got the job bcuz they went to School. No kindness of what so ever. Like I said before I love Pediatric Health Associates Doctors. I guess I keep doing their job. I love the previous before COVID-19 front desk person. This new young girls are worthless. read more

I had my daughter with Pediatric Heslth Associates for her entire life...shes 6. I grew up with Dr. Timmothy Walls daughter Sara, so I knew his practice was one based in compassion, service and a dedication to the health of children everywhere. Dr. Wall worked his whole life to build this practice based on these values, but I am afraid that after his passing, this does not hold true. I was kicked out of the practice for a late bill, that was billed to the wrong insurance. At the time of our emergency appointment (my daughter had severe strep and scarlet fever), the care was exceptional...as always. However the billing department insisted on running the bill through insursnce instead of using our flex soending cards. I told the lady that I would rather pay for it outright on my flex card, but she insisted. Long story short, it was denied by my insurance. My fault in this comes from letting this fall through the cracks for a few months...but we were dealing with both of my parents in health crisis...both with stage 4 cancer. I recently realized it had still not been paid and went to the office to pay in person with our flex spending. I was told they could not accept my payment, which was only $300 because it was already doubled and sent to collections. I was told I will now be paying double. I was even fine with that, even though I could now not use my flex account with the collections people. HOWEVER...what really blew my mind is that they told me our family would have to leave the practice based on this one incident. I litterally broke down crying in the offfice because we have worked so hard to keep continuity of care with our daughter...despite our jobs and insurance changing frequently. I begged to speak with someone. I was given an office supervisors number, who never returned my call. There was not an iota of compassion shown to me, no effort to rectify the situation, or retain my business. I was told best case scenario I could possibly return after a year after paying my balance plus 50% to the collection agency. I felt like trash. I am a teacher and my husband is a social worker. We have both dedicated our lives to making the world a better place. Just like Dr. Timmothy Wall. In a health care climate that is so volitile, where working class people are at the mercy of insurance companies, I expected so much more from Pediatric Health Associates than this. I can not believe that any self respecting person would feel differently. Dr. Wall believed that EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, deserved access to the highest quality healthcare...particularly children. I know that the doctors and nurses that work there share this vision. Its very unfortunate the office staff and billing deparment do not share the same values. Disorganized and unreliable. Our last two appointments which had been scheduled months in advance were canceled, the second one without any notification to us that it had been canceled. They will gladly charge you late fees without holding themselves to the same standard. Plan on spending hours on hold if you want to speak to anyone. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

This practice employs mostly new Doctors. You will not be building a relationship with a Doctor; as each visit you will see a new one. They are rarely on time. in most cases a single visit will take one hour plus. We have waited upwards of 3 hours in the exam room to see a doctor. if you value your time you may consider looking else where. Regardless of the reason for your visit; you will be Covid tested. they refuse to give you a return to school note with out one. Even in the absence of any symptoms. pillai The practice does have many locations which is one of the reasons we chose it. However we quickly learned that it was useless. Most of Doctors are very matter of fact, and lacking bed side manor. read more

I used to live in Naperville, and this is where I brought my kids for their annual checkups, shots, and all that fun stuff. The staff was always nice, and they even expanded their offices in the space in the time that I brought the kids. Well, I moved back to the city, and took the kiddos to the death star (with the initials T&C.) This really was the only game in town, if you wanted quality care for your precious children. It was okay, but I didn't like that the parking garage was always so full, parking was validated but you still had to pay, and the wait times in the office were long. The doctors and nurses were kind, but it was always an inconvenience trying to get there. Circle back to today, and I made the decision to transfer the kids' medical records back to PHA. I'm glad I did. They are so helpful, knowledgeable, and nice. There's plenty of parking in the lot, and the location is right off Ogden. I hope that the service continues to be nice, and wish that the city pediatrician offices would learn a thing or two about service. It's not about being the biggest, but how about actually taking care of your patients with care? read more

As if this place's review could get ANY worse! What a disappointment to healthcare this office is. Please, please do not start at this office. We moved from Austin and went here on a recommendation. You can never get ahold of the office, the entire office takes 2 - hour and a half breaks per day (the entire office) so the appt times are never available. They don't respond to messages when left. And when they do, you have to start the whole story over again. There is such a communication breakdown in all areas. They do not care about what is best for their patient, they just like to charge you for another visit for absolutely no reason. There is ZERO follow up on your child. There are so many doctors you can not even see the same one at any time. Please do not go here! read more

I didn't get my act together to find a new provider, so we're still here a month later. Called to request a prescription refill. It's an ADHD med, so there's a protocol. Dr. needs to review, etc. Requested on a Thursday. Nurse said message has been given to the doc (see my previous review about nurses only being able to pass along the messages). It's now Monday and still no prescription sent to the pharmacy. These are meds my daughter has been taking for over 2 years. How long does it take to review and send to the pharmacy? Just thankful this isn't insulin or something that is a matter of life and death. read more

3 visits here were 3 visits too many. While Dr. Tang is a nice enough doctor he does not make up for the incompetent staff and terrible office polices. First off for being a pediatric office I'm surprised there isn't a separate waiting room for sick and well children. Last time we were in for a well child visit there were sick, coughing children in almost every area of the waiting room essentially making no place safe to breath. Also, if you're a working parent whose best time to make calls is during lunch hours, don't bother with this place. They close down for their own lunch time and become unreachable unless it's a true emergency. Trying to reach any department is such a hassle--you'll follow the prompts to the right department and suddenly end up with a receptionist who has no idea what they're doing. And that's after waiting several minutes for someone to pick up. What finally helped me decide enough was enough was that I noticed most of the people on the phone don't do a very good job verifying who they are talking to on the phone. Even my husband, who NEVER calls our sons doctor's office (I had him call because I knew the wait time would be terrible and I was at work, and of course couldn't call on lunch!) mentioned how uncomfortable he was by their lack of verification. As long as you know just the kids name and DOB well then the receptionist will tell you whatever you want to know. When I finally requested records they told me it would be $1.05 PER PAGE. Even his new pediatrician said that's a ridiculously high amount for records. Thankfully we only had 3 visits there so they can just keep the records if they want to charge that much. We will not be returning and will never recommend this office. read more

Please reconsider this terrible practice. The doctors and their education/experience appear to sELL this place..but, unfortunately their staff both on the medical end(nurses) and their front/back end staff tsff are unprofessional, upsetting, misinformed and down right rude. I constantly wait upwards of 45-1hr! They have zero respect for you or your time. Simple 5 min appointments for med checks routinely take well over an hour sitting in a room mixed with many many sick kiddos. There is NO separation for well visits vs sick visits. The staff on the phone is quick to judge and dismiss...I recently had a long conversation with one dr. About breastfeeding where she actually had the audacity to tell me to wean my 12mth old?! Why? Bc of zero medical reasons...just her own personal experience. What? Fyi, this is my 4th child and i am very comfortable in my parenting. Also, I recently witnessed a dr. Coughing into their hands during RSV/FLU season...ok, even my 8yr old knows how to properly could wo spreading the "love." My four kids have gone here for yrs, but we have moved on...this practice has gotten so HUGE that patient care and individuality have been completely lost...it is a cattle call of kids and seems extremely sad that their bottom line is obviously volume over all else. I have amazing insurance, always pay my bill, and absolutely do not need my kids health to be a juggling act of insanity...be warned you are one in 1000s here. read more

At first i did like this place some doctors i liked more than others but in general everything was good until last nights experience. This incident made me super upset and was turned up to look as it was my fault not miscommunication but my fault. So i come for the 15 month check up there are two shots that were left to be given so we up to date. And i am aware about it during my daughter's appointment everything seems fine we went over lots of topics where one of them was my feelings towards giving shots tonight because of the time - it was already like 7.40pm and during our appointment i mention that i would like to have shots during morning appointment because i do not feel confident/comfortable that it will be at night while she will go to sleep and i cant watch her to see if she is okay. Appointment was done i dressed my daughter back to her clothes i put her jacket on and i am opening the door and i see nurse standing in front of me saying ready for shots. I am surprised because i thought we spoke about this and i nicely tell nurse that yes we will come back for those during sometime in the morning hours. She runs to the doctor. Doctor comes in and tells me this; there is lots of misleading information about shots on internet and if you refuse to give shots today you should find another doctor. I am standing there in shock i said doctor what are you talking about? I am not refusing shots and i believe we spoke about this in our appointment? I told you that i do not feel comfortable to do it at night and believed we were on the same page... the. Doctor said this: if you not giving shots this is big waste of money. And that shots cant be used for anyone else. And i either do it tonight or i have to find new provider. I took my child and i said i wont do it at night. Next day i called to talk to manager and she said same thing it was wasted and etc. and that i also refused shots before which by the way not true. Once i came for shots and they told Me they dont have it at the moment so they will Call me when they do. And they saying this is why we are behind our shots. But they forgot that there was/is corona where everything slowed down and plus i never refused any shots why i would refuse if i did start Shots since my baby was born. Only one shot i asked why i should give was hepatitas A because this one only required at some colleges? I asked ... and i said so maybe she can do it if she will choose to do it when she grows up. So here i am Looking for new provider and its totally fine but be aware of this place and you decide whose fault it was! This is coming from a mother who is not against shots and was kicked off for refusing shots because doctor said as HE UNDERSTOOD i only didnt want to take mmr shot at night. I love this Pediatric group! I've never had to wait for an appointment, & I am able to get "last minute" appointments as well. I haven't had to try to come in for an emergency, but I anticipate it won't be an issue. They are also open on Saturdays, which is a bonus. The doctors are very friendly & will answer your questions without treating you like you're an overanxious parent. I've taken my daughter to both Dr. Brinkman & Dr. Cook & I like them both. The support staff is equally friendly & good. The RN's quickly administer vaccines--key when you have a squirmy infant! read more

I am so frustrated because the nurse on the phone said we have an appointment at 10.30 and when we came they said we are late as in the system is 10.20! After driving an hour to make on time they just refused to see my daughter. They will operate within a "policy" like owner said in previous review, but probably this owner is just making money thru late fees charge "policy"! I just took my 4 day old son in for our newborn appt. We saw Dr. Uselding. This was the most horrible day of my life. They made my husband think he wasn't the father or my son's blood type was wrong. They were extremely rushed. Wouldn't answer our questions after we asked more than once. Did not tell us anything about our son. What percentile, etc. The nurse was extremely cold and no one introduced themselves or even told us their name. We are first time parents, I didn't expect my hand to be held but they didn't even pretend to care about us or our baby. A phone call to my OBGYN afterwards proved I wasn't off on feeling this way. We just had our daughter's 5 yr check up and on our way there she said Dr. Tim is here favorite doctor. We have been taking our girls (3 & 5) to PHA since they were born and couldn't be happier. We have seen quite a few docs, Dr. Wall, Dr. Shoshara, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Kash (probably a few more here and there!) and have had great experiences from all. Each has their own way of relating to the girls and making them feel comfortable being at the doctor. As a working mom, I LOVE the flexibility! PHA has the multiple locations (I have been to all), the walk-in clinic first thing in the AM for the first 5 people, and extended weekday and weekend hours. I can ALWAYS get an appointment. Most importantly my kids actually like coming to the doctor. They trust them. I trust them. One of the best decisions as a parent to come to PHA. read more

I took my son to PHA Naperville during the great recession when I had lost my job and MANY PEDIATRIC PRACTICES IN NAPERVILLE WOULD NOTTAKE NEW MEDICAID patients. I read about Dr. Wall's practice and made the best medical decision ever by switching. We have seen Dr. Tang, Dr. Uselding, Dr. Wall and Dr. Kash and all were great in terms of medical knowledge, beside manner, compassion but we have a special place in our hearts for Dr. Shakir. Due to an ongoing medical issue, we see her several times a year and her consultations have always been thorough, compassionate, informed on the latest findings for this condition and most of all she truly cares for my son and treats him from a holistic perspective- mind, body, spirit are all taken into account. Whether on Medicaid, HMO or PPO- our insurance has changed over the years, we have received the exact same quality of care. If a referral was needed, we were always impressed by the specialists recommended. And referrals were quick and efficient. We were also made aware Dr. Shakir and Dr. Shoshara have volunteered their time overseas to treat refugees in crisis. Their commitment to putting compassionate care first and foremost is exactly why we will feel blessed to have found this practice. read more

tl;dr- the practice has turned into a churn and burn, get as many patients in as possible with very little doctor face time, and if you have ANY special needs outside of an ear infection or yearly physical, you will pay multiple copays for multiple visits to different doctors who do not prepare for your visit and often make you come back. My three children have been patients of Pediatric Health Associates since the day they were born- eldest is 13. We are leaving this practice as soon as I can gather all the paperwork and muddle through my last visit. My husband and I always joked that once you got past the horrible receptionist process, the doctors were great, and some still are, but the quality and procedures this practice has implemented have caused nothing but trouble in the past 6 months- trouble the Head of Nurses was sure to explain was entirely my fault because, after 13 years, I just don't know their procedures for booking an appointment, or speaking with nurses, or apparently anything. After a completely inappropriately rude appointment with a doctor, putting up with the attitudes and condescension of the front staff is no longer something I'm willing to tolerate. No apologies were offered, no solutions given. I was even told that a particular problem was "never captured on her chart" yet when I logged into the patient portal that condition was ON EVERY FORM FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. But yes, truly, I was the unprepared person. I realized after hanging up the phone that I have simply never known any different way of being treated and seen by a doctor's office, and it is time to figure it out what is out there. read more

Dr. Tang really took his time getting to know my daughter and build a relationship not only with my daughter who is 8 years old, but also with me her mom . He diagnosed her with ADHD and hit it right on the spot! she is doing great she can actually sit down and focus in school but if it was not for Dr. Tang taking the time to build the relationship with my family I probably would have left . I've been taking my four kids to this office for the past five years and I couldn't be happier. Their pediatrician is Dr. Nithya Sunder and she is absolutely wonderful. She explains every question I have for her in detail. Same with Dr. Julian Tang and Dr. Flais. I've never had a problem scheduling an appointment there. They have great hours and a few locations. The nurses and staff are all great there. It's a great feeling as a parent to have great pediatricians that I like and trust, and that's how I feel with Pediatric Health Associates. read more

When my son was hospitalized, Dr. Wall came to the hospital to check on him and reassure us as parents that everything was okay and that the course of action we were taking was the right one! This is a wonderful practice. We've been with them for four years, and have had such a positive experience. The front desk staff is friendly and welcoming both on the phone and in person, and the nurses are experienced and knowledgeable. The docs take the time to answer my questions thoroughly, listen and address concerns, and educate me on things to look for and try at home. The nice thing about this practice is that you can build a relationship with a primary doc that really gets to know your kids, but if your children are sick, there is a team of amazing doctors who can see you right away (even nights and weekends). Over the years we've seen Dr. Wall, Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Shoshara, Dr. Gronli, Dr. Smeraglinolo and others, and have always felt very well taken care of. I also really appreciate that you can call and speak directly to a nurse who can answer your questions when your children are sick. As a new mom, I never felt like I was bothering someone when I called to ask about a lingering fever or a suspicious cough. Most importantly... my three and five year old are always treated with such care and respect. Overall, they really just provide a great experience for the kids. read more

Dr. Flais has been my children's pediatrician for 5 years. She has a wonderful bedside manner and always takes the time to answer any questions I have. I have seen other doctors in the practice and they have all been wonderful. They can always get me in for a sick appointment and the nurses are wonderful as well. read more

It is a big group and the doctors are a hit or miss (meaning, you might get a good or bad one). One thing that is very frustrating is that they close for lunch for 1.5 hours from 11:30 to 1:00. I called them at 11:28 and they were gone and it's past 1:00 now and they're still not open. I don't understand why they can't work in shifts so that the office is not completely closed for that long. Poor business practice for a doctors office. However, since it's a big group appointments are not hard to get and the wait is not that long. read more

My daughter who has complicated health issue has been a patient here since 2001. The staff is always welcoming. Her doctor is Dr. Virginia Kash and she is wonderful. Always listening, willing to help and accommodates with various health issues such a professional way. We have seen other doctors in this practice as well, they are all professional and communication between the staff seems very clear and efficient. I recommended PHA to several friends and neighbor or mine, and they are all 100% satisfied as well. read more

I picked this office as they were not too far from me, and accepted my insurance. I have had not so great experiences here particularly with my younger child. My child experienced adverse reaction to vaccines that they really overdo- and won't seperate them ( ie 4 at a time!) My concerns were never listened to as a parent, and i feel that is a serious breach of trust. Im no longer interested in continuing to have my kid go here. read more

This practice is fantastic. Between the four of my kids, we have seen many of the physicians (and nurse practitioners) and they're all stellar. One of the things that first brought me to this practice was the ease of getting a sick visit (when you have a sick kid, you want to be seen quick). And the quality of care is what has kept me here for years. I was just there with my 15 year old daughter today, in fact, and we saw Dr. Wall. When we came out of the office, she said, "He is so cool." It's not everyone who can get a teenager to say that. Dr. Wall is a special guy. read more

All my three boys have gone to the excellent team of doctors and nurses in this practice their birth. Dr. Wall and Dr. Hamilton Dr. Shoshara have been my children's favorite pediatricians...and they have loved it. The practice is large yet has a very personable experience. They are very proactive and resourceful. (My baby had a developmental issue and they caught it early and referred Very accessible and working parent friendly(hours). Call backs are quick. Total hit or miss with doctors and nurses. Some are great like Dr. Wall, Dr. Kash and Dr. Uselding. But having to deal with the bad ones is just not worth it. It is hard to get into the doctor you want - even scheduling a month in advance. I have had too many mistakes by the rushed doctors on call. I am taking my kids elsewhere! read more

After 3 years we are leaving the practice. We can't accept 30+ minute wait times plus additional wait time in the exam rooms for scheduled appointments. Only a few of the doctors are good, and the office staff has poor customer service skills. During an accident in the waiting room we were told they didn't have any ice packs. This Doctors office does not know what they are doing, my 4 month old Daughter has been sick with Diarrhea, I went in to see Dr. twice nothing wrong made me feel like I'm over exaggerating she is fine go home. Never asked to follow up I had to push for test to be done switch formulas, Nurse would give me samples Doctors had no idea, to long to explain, all I know is they don't know what they are doing, Rude doctor said go to your primary for a referral to a Pediatrictian GI if you are so concern, wait your her Doctor. she made me feel like don't bother me. We recently switched pediatric offices and heard great things about pediatric health associates. My kids saw the same doctor multiple times in one year. When it came to my daughters well visit, the doctor asked if she had ever seen us because she didnt remember ever seeing my kids, giving us referrals or talking about a health plan. Mind you, we saw her a month earlier. The doctor told me to get a parenting book and that I was offending her by asking her questions. Never in my life have I had a doctor be so rude to me, not pay attention to the notes she made in my childs chart and be so ignorant! Needless to say my kids will not be going back. read more
