Pedra Alta may best be discribed as a 'birthday restaurant'. You can eat massive platters of seafood or huge scewers of meat for a reasonable price. Quantity is more important than quality and you can get a doggybag to go to take your leftover lobster. The interior of the place is all about fish & Portugal. A lobster tank when you enter the place and even menu cards shaped like a lobster. A big plus is that you can also get the cooked fish platter with mussels, grilled squid and prepared lobster. In most restaurants you can only get the cold platters with snails, lobster,... We paid about 33 euro's a person for a big platter with loads of lobster. Downside: the lobster was a bit overcooked and the mussels were as well. But the fries were really nice and freshly cut from patatoes! Downside was that you had to wait at least 40 min to get a table (you got a ticket with a numver on it). And you could not sit down or order a drink while you were waiting. Staff wasn't really friendly and every five minutes they turn of the light to sing a happy birthday song. Overall, it's a good restaurant if you are a big eater or if you want to celebrate your birthday!

Very quaint restaurant. Servers spoke very little English but gave us superb service. Visited on a Wednesday night - no wait, big groups of families were dining, very delicious food still think about the oysters .

It's also loud and crazy busy and I've been told that an hour or two wait is not uncommon. The portions are massive. We ordered 3 plates for 5 adults and 2 kids and still had some leftovers. Did you read that??? Leftovers. These guys do something that is still pretty unique in France. They offer you a way to take what you didn't eat home. It shouldn't be noteworthy but around here it is. Sadly they're not that good at it. If you like their fries and expect that the two large portions that you did not eat will be included in that leftover bag you will be mistaken. And the price. I might be a cheapskate but considering the wait and the volume 150 something Euros was a little more than I expected for a meal like this. Sangria was awesome. May be fortified with a little whiskey. No reservations and the parking sucks!
