We stayed 2 nights at this resort. The service is good and we enjoyed it. We are hikers so we appreciated how quickly we could get to various trails. Our room was lovely and had a balcony looking out at the ocean and there is a nice trail along the beach that leads to neighboring towns which were fun to explore. I'd recommend it. We also ate at the restaurant both nights and it was fine. The breakfast was phenomenal. read more

Last month I stayed at the resort for 5 nights as part of an Azores Getaways package. Overall I was very pleased with the accommodations. The staff was helpful and friendly. I appreciated that they let us check in about 30 minutes early upon request, since we were very tired from our flight! Our room on the 2nd floor was stylishly decorated with a spacious bathroom as well as a balcony outside with a small table and chairs. My only complaint with the room was that the bathroom was glassed in. There was a screen that came down to block the view from the bed, except the screen was transparent. I would really recommend they replace this screen with one that actually blocked out the view into the bathroom. Since we did not want to drive anywhere our first night, we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was well prepared. I had the octopus, which I don't know if I'd get again as it was a little rubbery and bland, and my partner had the trigger fish which was by the the standout dish. We also enjoyed the garlic shrimp. I'd say the prices are comparable to what you'd pay in the states for similar food. If you can, try to eat at local places as they are much cheaper for phenomenal food. We ate off the bar menu one night. I would not recommend that. The food was mediocre and expensive. We had the chicken nachos and beef sandwich. The bar itself has drink prices that are about the same as what you'd pay in the states--maybe a little more expensive for liquor than what you'd pay in the states. I would recommend going into town and buying some delicious and inexpensive Azorian wine to drink on your balcony whenever possible. Speaking of going into town, I liked that Ponta Delgada was a short 15 minute drive away but that the resort seems far away from the hustle and bustle of town. It was very relaxing to be surrounded by the ocean on one side and small towns and farms on the other. We very much enjoyed hiking the trail that runs along the ocean in front of the resort. The complimentary continental breakfast was probably the best I've ever experienced, with an extensive coffee and juice bar and many many breakfast food options, most of which were locally sourced. They even had sparkling wine for mimosas! I also recommend indulging in a massage if you have time and the extra cash. Unlike most hotel spas, the massage here was not highly overpriced. I paid about $70 US for a 55- minute Swedish massage. read more

Great resort! Knowing we would be out and about exploring most they day, it was great to come back to a clean and comfortable room. The resort location is great, not too far from the airport and a great ocean view. The resort itself is nice and clean with plenty of glass windows to overlook the ocean. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection and very good. Outdoor infinity pool we didn't get to enjoy, since it was cold the time we went. But I assume would Be very beautiful an a hot day. They do have a heated pool indoor, which we did enjoy. Along with both a steam room and sauna. read more

Beautiful hotel and location but certainly no 5 star. Would be a great 4 star hotel but giving it 3 stars for the restaurant. The food and drinks are overpriced for the island and the prices don't make sense; 1.5€ difference for pasta w sauce (no meat) and a steak or fish dish. Our worst meal on the island was here and was one of our more expensive meals, it comes with a side of slow service - we also left hungry and ended up needing to go out again. Very unfortunate as we dined there the first night of a 6 night stay and didn't go back. And there isn't any other options within walking distance. if you want room service they throw on an additional 15€ charge each time for this crap food... this is an insane amount as the most expensive thing on the room service menu is around 9€. read more

Nice new resort hotel on Sao Miguel island in the Azores! Good views, pool, restaurant. Right on the water and close to other attractions and various towns and restaurants. Resort has comfortable beds and upgraded amenities compared to other area hotels. Indoor and Outdoor pools, SPA, Turkish bath, Restaurant, views from the rooms, and good bathroom soaps and lotion. read more

Not impressed. Three star resort, tops. The food was not very good and was extremely overpriced. We ate there the first night out of ease (desperation?) and never even thought about doing it again. The food was not good, the service was not good, and it was the most expensive meal of the trip. I would not go back, ever. read more

If you're looking for the best drinks on the island, this is it! Sit at the bar and ask for Hugo. He is an amazing bartender and will make you the most delicious drinks. Wish we had spent more time here during our trip! read more

Very nice, modern, and clean hotel. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. All rooms have private balconies, but one side faces the ocean and the other faces rolling green hills and cows munching on grass in the distance. The rooms are nicely furnished with modern furniture and muted colors. The bed in room 143 was quite comfortable. The only negative comment I have about the rooms is there is a glass wall separating the bathroom and the bedroom area that offers no privacy. There is an electronic shade that one can lower to provide some privacy, but the shade is not opaque enough for that. The hotel has both an indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool is heated and quite shallow, about 3 ft all around. It features jacuzzi jets on one end and a waterfall faucet on the other. There is also a small gym, sauna, and steam room, which overlooks the indoor pool. The outdoor pool is not heated and has three sections with different depths, but also mostly shallow. read more

Pedras do Mar is a really beautiful, clean, and modern hotel with great amenities and a fantastic view of the ocean from a stunning infinity pool (although it was a bit too cold in November to spend any time in the pool except for a few brave souls that ran back and forth between the sauna and the pool). The room was spotless and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The primary reason for four stars instead of five was the restaurant -- as mentioned by others, the prices were a bit steep relative to the other places in the island and the food was pretty good, but certainly not amazing. The main problem was the service. We ate there twice and had cocktails a few more times and each and every time the service was incredibly slow. read more
