Great coffee but the service is hit or miss. Sometimes it's great but I waited over my mobile order time window just to get a half decaf.

This specific location is trash. Usually I go to the rancho Bernardo one and im never disappointed. We were closer to this one recently and everything from the staff, the way the drinks were made, all the way down to the customers who will just look you up and down unless you're one of them (I'll let you figure out what kind of person you think that is given the location) it was just not good at all and we would would gladly give Starbucks our morningly $25 then this place. I won't be shy about it. I love Peet's coffee! Of course, I do. I'm from the SF Bay Area & have worked in Berkeley, Peet's hometown, for over a decade & 1/2. I've known forever how fantastic the coffee is. So, it was like striking caffeinated gold finding out about this Peet's location in Carlsbad, nearly 500 miles South from where it all began. During a week-long vacation in the area, I stopped by here a few times for a Heavenly cup of Joe. Though the nearby parking lots are hectic, I always managed to find at least 1 short term (30 mins., I think) space nearby. Lines & waits were always short. Are you kidding me, I mean, I am a coffee guy and I am in love with Peet's coffee. The coffee gods have ascended down to Peet's with a phenomenal brew for all to enjoy. From the bold to the light, that perfect elixir to keep one moving throughout the day. It doesn't matter if you're into espresso's, from hot to iced, decaf to a half calf. I guarantee you one sip of this perfectly roasted blend will have you addicted for more. I came in to a semi packed establishment just looking over my options, in do I go with their house blend, or should I go with a change up in a mocha java? As I was about to let the barista know what direction I wanted to go in, I had to step back and regroup. I applaud her patience with me that day, seeing I was jumping around from either iced or hot. I looked like a guy who didn't need caffeine that day basically. Personally, any establishment that shows a great deal of patience with a smile to boot, will always win me over. I like it whenever there are alternatives to Starbucks in town. I'm not a hater... I do like Starbucks, but variety is nice. Stopped in here this afternoon for a break with my co-worker. I had a pure caramel freddo. It was good, but WAAAY too sweet for me. I am picky though so if you like really sweet blended drinks then this would be good for you. I only order two drinks at Peet's - one of which is a Double Undertow. I ordered the drink "for here" to sit outside, read the paper and enjoy 20 min to sip and relax. 1st try: the barista hands me a 12 oz to go cup with steam coming off of it. I tell her it's not an undertow. She proceeds to argue with me and tell me that's what Michael told her to make. Michael walked by and I said "is this an undertow?" and he says "No, hold on - we'll make you a new one." 2nd try: same thing, another steaming hot 12 oz cup. Me again, "This is not a double undertow. It's an item on your menu. It should be in your small, shot-like cup and it's two shots of espresso, vanilla syrup and cold cream." Michael calls the lady working the register over to make it. She grabs the shot cup so I think I'm in good hands. 3rd try: she hands me a shot cup steaming - again. I tell her this is not an undertow and Michael disappears. After 15 minutes of this, I ask for a refund and leave. An undertow is barely lukewarm because when shots of espresso come out they are not hot and adding cold cream further lowers the temperature. A steaming hot drink is never right! Please see the photo I've attached from your website, so someone at the Carlsbad location can teach the baristas how to make a Double Undertow. So quiet. So refined. So, well, sophisticated, I guess. In general, Peet's locations just seem to be so much more laid back and relaxed than your average Starbucks. I plead guilty in frequenting Starbucks all over the country, mainly because they are on every block and in every hotel. But if there was a Peet's located next to every Starbucks, I would never enter the green monster ever again to drink their burnt crap. While I like Peet's coffee and their locations better in general, this one I especially like. Everyone is so polite, the tables are filled with average folks (well, kinda wealthy folks) and students reading the newspaper*, doing homework, reading books*, etc., and the mood is so mellow. And, of course, the coffee is really good. This review is based on the service, not the coffee beans. Pete's coffee beans are a five star, that's why I've been using them for 10 years. The service today was horrible. The guy that helped us was not friendly at all and in fact abrupt about where you walked in stood in the store as that was clearly his focus. I ordered my usual 3 one pound bags on a number nine grind. Driving away in the car realize they were not ground. This is the second time it's happened by the same person. The last time it happened, I did not notice and ground coffee myself. Hard to get a consistent grind but that's a personal preference. Anyway, I went back in to have the coffee beans ground...no apology, more attitude and it's just not right. If he doesn't like his job he should find something else to do! read more

One of my favorite coffee places...especially for a chain. Service is always great and they are consistently great in preparing my coffee drink. I've never had to return a drink because it tasted like crap as is often the case with the the awful Starbucks chain. Bottom Line: Strong coffee in Bressi Ranch with indoor and outdoor seating. I still prefer Peet's over Starbucks so if its time to fuel up in the 92009 then Peet's is my stop. Even though this shopping center is totally crazy between the hours of 11am and 6pm, in the early morning I find it to be peaceful with plentiful parking. The baristas are always kind and I like looking at the tea and fun gifty stuff while I wait for my java. Generally, I just get a drip coffee but occasionally I splurge, and thoroughly enjoy, one of their specialty drinks. There is indoor and outdoor seating here and Peet's provides a wifi code on your receipt which I think is good for one hour. read more

Peet's is the best coffee you will find around! There are always a lot of people here, but they get you your coffee quick and with friendly service. My boyfriend and I come here all the time. I believe this coffee to taste a lot better than other big brand franchise coffee shops. Also the outdoor seating is great; lots of tables and in the beautiful Bressi Ranch. Only downside is the wifi is not the best. So wether you come for a quick cup of caffeine, or you decided to sit outside and sip under a beautiful San Diego sky, this is a wonderful coffee shop to stop in at. PS. There isn't a Peet's close to where I live but this one is quite close to my work so I thought I'd give them a try. At the recommendation of the barista at the register, I ordered a golden latte; something of which I'd never actually tried. Needless to say her enthusiasm was well-founded and it's become one of my favorite drinks of choice there. Every time I go in there, the staff is always chipper and it is clear they enjoy their craft. They have their regulars of whom they make small talk with and makes it feel like they're not just crafting drinks in an assembly line. The espresso is always well poured regardless of the barista and even when it's busy, they're efficiently cranking out drinks but also thinking about the details -- I observed one barista in particular who made sure each of her drinks were gifted with hearts. It's the little things folks. This particular location is located in a busy strip mall in Bressi Ranch but is also near industrial parks so at any given time during the day, it is not only busy but parking can be challenging. Fortunately they have multiple access points so it offsets the parking issue to some degree. My only disappointment? When I'm running late to work and can't stop in for my morning latte. read more

Besides the coffee, my favorite thing about any coffee shop is the layout and how many tables they have available to sit or work. It's 2017, so unless you're at Cafe Topes, it's assumed they all have wifi. They have quite a few tables, both indoor and outdoor which will be nice for all of our sunny days. The coffee was great, and it wasn't too crowded when we were there. It's in Bressi Ranch, in is a newer shopping area. I could see how parking could be a bit of a challenge if it was a busy weekend or during peak hours. I would definitely recommend Peet's as a great place to go just for a strong cup of coffee or to sit and get a few hours of work done. read more

I hope we get more Peet's Coffee's around San Diego County. I don't have one close to my house, so when I am out & about I always stop. My friend and I saw these all over Los Angeles, so we thought they must be good. I don't know why anyone would go anywhere else for coffee. Some chains have bitter tasting coffee, but Peet's is ALWAYS spot on. The staff is always helpful & kind. No matter what location I have visited the barista's are always welcoming & knowledgeable. I usually get a Mocha Latte with almond milk. I would like to try some of their different tea drinks, but I enjoy the coffee drinks so much I haven't ventured to try anything new. They do a great job here! The manager and all the staff are really welcoming and friendly. The drink consistency is great! They do an awesome job with 'customer experience' that most businesses could really learn from. Nice atmosphere in this Peets. Beautiful Outdoor patio overlooking a rather large freshly groomed flower garden/Park area with a large Gazebo. It's elegantly positioned in this new shopping area. There are 4 total areas to sit, immediately when you walk in the door, little private strip to the right, and one to the left as well as ample graduated layers if seating on the outdoor patio area. My coffee was rich, robust and was very strong. The Baristas were very quarky, boisterous and somewhat distracted. But delivered every cup ordered efficiently. They were colorful and avant garde. The atmosphere is conducive to reading , studying or contemplating. Lots of activity was coming from the All Natural Burger a Place next door...pure Burger. I will definitely go back soon. The atmosphere was a bit disconnected as the employees were not on target today. So looking forward to a return visit to see just how much more professional they CAN be read more

i wish Dunkin Donuts had made it here. I.E. carlsbad. Head and shoulders better than Peet's. Peet's Is watery low quality coffee made to make you drink more than one cup.....Forfeiting 5 dollars every day for a small cup of coffee and something for the birds. There is nothing of which makes this coffee special. If you think it is special try a custom made cup of coffee sometime and wake up. Prager Brothers bakery is nearby as you know if oriented to area. Now that was special coffee. i stopped going to bakery because the owner thought it too expensive to buy coffee mostly just for employees. Tables and chair area is now closed. Beautiful little spot but had an owner too cheap to buy the beautiful little employees free coffee. Whoa does not get much cheaper. Speaking of cheap it it hard to beat Peet's sponging off other vendors for a washroom.....Used to be nice spot for watery coffee only because of hardy rose shrubs which get almost no summer maintenance but manage to survive. This was possibly my first experience with a Peet's Coffee. I received a gift card as a prize for something, so I figured I might as well save my money and use it to get lunch. What I found when I got there will BLOW YOUR MIND. Just kidding, it was nice enough. My experience was slightly marred by the inescapable pressing need my bladder was creating as I waited in line, and the fact that the people in front of me in line had a lot of questions and took their time. But I won't let those facts, nor the fact that both bathrooms were occupied, increasing my wait time, affect my review, as one of those is my own fault, and the other two are entirely outside of the business's control. (Which begs the question, "why even bother mentioning them in your review if they aren't going to affect it?" To answer your question... I don't know. I guess I'm just weird.) I ordered a large Mocha Javiva, which is their approximation of a blended drink from Starbucks, and a breakfast sandwich with bacon and cheese, which, I was pleased to find, was served all day. The sandwich was of a higher quality than its fast food equivalent, and probably even its Starbucks cousin, and the drink felt closer to coffee than a similar drink from Starbucks would (although still loaded with an amount of sugar that neither I, nor any other human, needs). Staff was friendly and quick, free wi-fi was great and fast, and I had no particular issue with any aspect of my experience. Went here today not really knowing what to get and Kendra recommended the most delicious hibiscus iced tea. I've never really been to Pete's (except maybe in a airport for a black coffee) and was a little overwhelmed by the menu. Kendra was patient and enthusiastic and helped guide me to the perfect drink for my toddler and myself. We sat there for a little while and I noticed her talking to every customer the same.
