I've been here several times. It's in a historic building, which is now a hotel and restaurant. Peggy's is a little upscale, but I don't think they have a dress code. Parking can be tricky, so may have to park in public parking at the Visitors Center during peak times of the year. I've only been for lunch, so my reviews are based on the lunch menu. I've heard a lot of good things about their dinner menu, though! The menu item I chose on this visit was the best I've had there. I got the crab cake on a fried green tomato. It was absolutely delicious! The crab cake didn't have breading, which allowed you to really taste the wonderfully fresh crab. My daughter got the chicken pot pie and she loved it. The crust was house made and the filling was super creamy. The service was very good...we didn't know they close at 2 and reopen at 5 and had arrived at 130. She never shooed us or hurried us and we didn't even realize they were closed (we were tucked into a corner) until she brought us our bill at 3! Huge attaboy for her, but we would have planned on going earlier if we had known. read more

I really enjoyed the decor of this upscale Texas rustic restaurant. The onion rings were delicious with a peppery crispy coating. We shared the jalapeño pimento cheese burger and the fish tacos. I was a little disappointed in the burger because I was hoping for some nice kick from the jalapeño, but I really couldn't detect any jalapeño flavor at all. The fish tacos were generous with the flaky grilled white fish and slaw topping and were flavorful with the fresh pico. I enjoyed the home cut fresh fries that I dipped in a delicious and fresh buttermilk dressing. (That was the highlight of the meal for me.). Elizabeth took great care of us. read more

I will say parking isn't easy, must have reservations on weekends and make sure to ask your server how much drinks are before getting because we ended up with a $33 class of wine and the guy didn't tell us he was giving us the most expensive glass of wine in the history of glasses of wines haha. My food was very good as I had the chicken dish and the bourbon glaze made it very yummy and the chicken was moist but not a big fan of skin but that's just me. We had a few different appetizers which were pimiento cheese dip which was yummy rich and cheesy . Along with the homemade crackers which were hot and sweet at the same time. I'd honestly buy a bag of those! Over all disappointing brownie as it said hot gooey brownie and it was more of a flourless chocolate cake and disappointed in the waiter not informing us on how expensive the glass of wine was . I mean we already spent a lot of money on 6 people's food and drinks and to add an extra $33 to get more money added to your tip wasn't kind.I would recommend eating in the bar area as the dinning area is out dated and sad almost . I had such a great experience dining at Peggy's on the Green while staying at the hotel it's connected to. The whole setting is charming and elegant, and it made for such a relaxing and memorable evening. I ordered the roasted chicken and it was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. But the unexpected star of the meal was the broccolini. Truly the best I've ever had, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. I still keep thinking about it. I also ordered a glass of Moscato that I really loved. It was light, sweet, and paired perfectly with the meal. I'm honestly so sad I forgot to ask which one it was, because I would've gone out and bought a bottle immediately. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and polished. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just looking for a great place to dine in Boerne, I highly recommend making a reservation here. We came here on a Sunday for brunch. We made reservations, but probably didn't need them. The restaurant is located in a historic hotel and is huge. Parking isn't great, especially on the weekends, but downtown Boerne is very walkable. There is a nice walking trail outside of the hotel and it next to a plaza that has weekend markets. My wife got the buttermilk pancakes and I got the chicken and waffles. We both enjoyed our food and the portions were large. First of all, the location is amazing. The restaurant is part of an old building which is now an inn. It was a stagecoach stop back in the old days. So, its worth a visit. The restaurant itself is bigger than the front area. As for the food, its good - not exceptional. My wife's entree was salty and could barely eat it. My dinner was their special of the night - redfish. It was beautifully done and delicious. While we're aware that this restaurant is mostly a steak place, we wanted to try their other entrees. They succeeded halfway. The service on the other hand was outstanding. Our server was attentive, informative, and efficient. He was great! Overall, for the price point of $75 per person (including a glass of wine, soups and gratuity) their salty chicken entree should have been avoided. It tasted like they brined the chicken but forgot to wash the salt off. Will we go back there again? Time will tell. read more

We love Peggy's! The ambiance is so nice...l'm not sure how to describe it - rustic class? It just feels comfortable. Tonight it was a little noisy, mainly because of some people near us that were loud. Our server was Hayes and he and his team took excellent care of us. I started with Marie's Country Olive Salad (which is my favorite thing on the menu)) and my husband had the house salad. It was the same price as mine yet quite a bit smaller and with less variety of ingredients. It's just a basic salad so it should be less expensive, IMO. Sweet tea brined chicken breast was my choice. It was good and cooked perfectly (not dry like often happens with chicken breasts) but it and the sauce that was in a little pitcher on the side were a little salty for my taste.The broccolini and potatoes on the side were delicious, though. Husband had the 12 oz New York Strip and a baked potato as a side dish. He said it was one of the best steaks he's had. We also ordered the green beans to share. They are served crisp which is not to everyone's taste. The brownie and ice cream was our shared dessert. It tasted good, but was a little on the dry side. It left me wishing we had gone with a piece of buttermilk pie instead. It wasn't a cheap meal, but it was our anniversary so we splurged a little and felt that, overall, it was worth it. read more

My friends and I visited Peggy's On The Green this past weekend for a birthday celebration. As this restaurant is within the hotel, there was plenty of parking right out front and we were able to enter the restaurant from the side. We had reservations and were seated immediately at a large table which was nice. Our group ordered a variety of cocktails and each ordered our own individual meals as well. While I personally ordered the grilled cheese, we all tried each other's dishes as well. The group ordered the following dishes: - Grilled Cheese - Peggy's BLT - Jumbo Crab Cake - Pimento Cheeseburger - Farmer's Cobb Salad - Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos Personally, I thought the BLT ended up being the best of the meals as it was so fresh and really hit the spot. My grilled cheese was good as well, but still left something to be desired. The one thing that I didn't love about this place was the speed of service. Whether it was the water, cocktails or the actual food... it felt like it took them forever (drinks especially). Many of us thought of ordering a second round but decided not to because we didn't think they'd get them to us before we had to leave. Despite the wait times, the staff was very friendly. I met some family here for lunch and it's a very cute place. They have a nice bar as well but I didn't get a picture but it's off to the side in another room from the dining area. There was only one bartender and like 20 people so it took a bit to get my drink but nonetheless they had my gin that I wanted which was the botanist so I was happy with that. Our waiter was ok and he mentioned that there was a new chef and they were not going to make any substitutions to any place because this would cause chaos and be too confusing and that was very disappointing to hear. I had the iceberg salad which was great because it has blue cheese crumbles and dressing and bacon and to tomatoes so that was great. For my main plate I ordered the crab cake and it was very good, lots of lump crabmeat and the sauce it came with was nice as well. We had 3 servers come up to us within 3 minutes of each other stating they were our servers and asking what we wanted to drink.. we thought it was a joke but was just unorganized. Food came out pretty quick but both dishes were not impressive. Shrimp and grits were 8/10, plump shrimp cooked perfectly. But 4 shrimp in a large bowl of grits that didn't have the correct balance to make us finish the dish. Overall good but not worth the price tag. Chicken 5/10-I got the chicken which was the saltiest piece of meat I've ever tasted. I asked the waiter if it's marinated in a brine he said yeah it's supposed to be salty... he said yes and that was it. I've marinated chicken in pickle juice with less salty flavor than this. It was cooked perfectly but I wish I would've sent it back. The broccolini it came with was also over salted. Biscuits had great texture but not a ton of flavor. Brussel sprouts had no bourbon sauce flavor as described, seemed steamed then thrown in a cast iron for the table. They were cooked but lacked flavor. Great atmosphere and drinks. I would return for a happy hour before dining at another restaurant because the food here did not make want to return. read more

Super cute place in old building in Boerne. I have been here a few times for lunch and once for brunch, which were all a wonderful experiences so tried it now for dinner with a group of friends. We started in the bar for a cocktails first. Drinks were great, service in bar was just okay. Our dinner table was in far back room. I have had their spinach artichoke dip at lunch and it's the best I have ever had so was looking forward to getting that as an appetizer and sharing with my friends but very disappointed to find out it's not an option at dinner. I'm not sure why that would be an appetizer offered only at lunch. Our service was good, especially for a party of 8. Half of us got the filet, it was delicious. Three of us had a wonderful dinner here tonight. It started right from the beginning after I made a reservation. About an hour before, I called the restaurant asking if we could add one more person. The hostess was very kind and let me know it would be no problem and to her call her if we needed any further help. Our server was Chase and he took very good care of us. He gave us good suggestions on the menu. Definitely get their Old Fashion if you are a fan. I had an excellent NY strip steak, my wife had the Crab Cakes, our friend had the special which was lobster. Green beans with bacon jam, cheesy mashed potatoes and a spinach bacon salad to round it out. Wow, we were all so happy. As I eat my dinner, I watched the wait staff work as a team taking care of all the patrons enjoy their meals. Peggy's On the Green is not a budget restaurant, but the prices seemed fair and the quality and value were there. The restaurant inside is a nice country style where normal Texans will feel right at home. They have a large outside dining when the weather gets better. We were first time diners and we were very happy with the entire experience. It was our 31st anniversary and we decided to stay close to home and we definitely made the right decision. Bobby was our waiter and for his fourth day he did an exceptional job. The whole wait staff was awesome and the food was fantastic as well. Today was a gorgeous day so we decided to dine on the patio of Peggy's on the Green. We came for lunch and decided on some light meal choices. We went with the Spinach Salad, French Onion Soup, Grilled Cheese that was also stuffed with bacon ham and a side of dill potato salad. While we enjoyed our meals, I must say that we were not necessarily wowed by them. I guess I expected more. In fact, I had to ask for more vinaigrette dressing to add to my salad. Our waitperson, Kate, was very friendly...no issues here whatsoever. I just was not overly impressed with the food. Will I return? Maybe. The jury is still out on this. read more

We came in on a Saturday night; the food was wonderful. My wife and I came in; I ordered the 13 oz. ribeye, and she ordered the salmon. We shared multiple tasty sides and amazing, flavorful wine. We had Mike as our server; he was extremely kind and informative as a server, and we also had Jamal as his "server assistant." Never experienced anything that unprofessional ever! Needless to say we left. Feel sorry of the owners of the place staff has no respect, at least the one's that worked that night. I really didn't get pimento cheese out of them. I expected them to have chunks of the pimento cheese. I initially had ordered the lobster roll, but they were out. So, I ended up ordering the jumbo crabcake. It came with a side of salad greens. I did order a side of green goddess potato salad because I wanted to taste it. The crabcake was a good size. It definitely filled me up. The potato salad was creamy, but it was missing flavor. Their lunch menu has a good amount of meals to select from, but I feel like we may have liked ir better for brunch or dinner. Parking is available nearby on the street. read more

I truly hate giving a bad or mediocre review, but feel a responsibility to express my experience. Total disappointment in our 11am lunch at Peggy's on the Green. Started out sharing the lobster salad roll. Way to dry for lobster salad and the roll was scorched giving a "burnt" taste. The crab cake I ordered had to be sent back due to mushiness and a strange "fridge" smell. The chicken fried steak was way over cooked. More accurately described as burnt. The thickness of the steak itself was around 1/8 to maybe 1/4 inch. Way to thin to chicken fry. The green beans were over cooked and dry. The chicken pot pie was the saving grace, even though it was mediocre at best. Our server, Haley, was wonderful. I don't complain to our servers. Just send back what I consider inedible. Just a bad day in the kitchen perhaps. read more

This was a beautiful and unexpected stop for us on our road trip. A friend of my friend's lives in the area and we picked her up for a day out in Boerne. She grew up in the area and had some connections and therefore recommended Peggy's on the Green. The restaurant was part of the Kendall Hill Country Inn, a historic building and Inn. Across from the Inn an Italian car show was taking place in the square now filled with Ferraris and Lamborghinis.. The Inn had a special event taking place outdoors so there was no outdoor seating or valet when we arrived. We found parking close by in a bank parking lot as it was Saturday and many businesses were closed for the weekend. We were seated indoors in a back room and socially distanced from two other tables. Masks were required and our servers were masked and gloved. They took our drink orders and food orders promptly and our drinks came...then we waited, and waited. . We had ordered a Caesar salad and two burgers (one pimento and one bacon) with fries. I think our order got misplaced because almost one hour later and a trip to the manager (who was extremely apologetic) our order arrived. The manager was very kind to us and without delay comped our meals. The food was delicious. The salad was cold and fresh, the burgers were very flavorful and the homemade fries hot and crispy..no complaints about the quality of our choices. The prices were also very fair. The atmosphere of the dining area was very pleasant with lots of wood flooring and the Inn was very inviting. The grounds were also very beautiful from what we could see. This would have been a lower rating if the manager had not been exceptional, therefore i cant say anything negative all in all. If we weren't so hungry the long wait would have been chalked up to a longer visit chatting with friends. I would not hesitate to return to Peggy's on the Green. read more
