Alright. We went from brunch and the menu is pretty limited. Nothing to write home about and extremely over priced. Service was prompt.

Jalapeño Pimento Cheese Burger with house cut fries
    Barbra M.

I really enjoyed the decor of this upscale Texas rustic restaurant. The onion rings were delicious with a peppery crispy coating. We shared the jalapeño pimento cheese burger and the fish tacos. I was a little disappointed in the burger because I was hoping for some nice kick from the jalapeño, but I really couldn't detect any jalapeño flavor at all. The fish tacos were generous with the flaky grilled white fish and slaw topping and were flavorful with the fresh pico. I enjoyed the home cut fresh fries that I dipped in a delicious and fresh buttermilk dressing. (That was the highlight of the meal for me.). Elizabeth took great care of us.

it's a good restaurant. I will say parking isn't easy, must have reservations on weekends and make sure to ask your server how much drinks are before getting because we ended up with a $33 class of wine and the guy didn't tell us he was giving us the most expensive glass of wine in the history of glasses of wines haha. My food was very good as I had the chicken dish and the bourbon glaze made it very yummy and the chicken was moist but not a big fan of skin but that's just me. We had a few different appetizers which were pimiento cheese dip which was yummy rich and cheesy . Along with the homemade crackers which were hot and sweet at the same time. I'd honestly buy a bag of those! Over all disappointing brownie as it said hot gooey brownie and it was more of a flourless chocolate cake and disappointed in the waiter not informing us on how expensive the glass of wine was . I mean we already spent a lot of money on 6 people's food and drinks and to add an extra $33 to get more money added to your tip wasn't kind.I would recommend eating in the bar area as the dinning area is out dated and sad almost . Bar is definitely the vibe to eat at. Bring your wallet because it's not cheap!

We usually love Peggy's however our last visit left us with just an ok experience. I will rate them 4 stars because they are usually quite consistently good. We had the soft shell crab which looked great but freaked my daughter out a bit so we returned it for crab cakes. We shared a pork loin dish and it was just ok.

First of all, the location is amazing. The restaurant is part of an old building which is now an inn. It was a stagecoach stop back in the old days. So, its worth a visit. The restaurant itself is bigger than the front area. As for the food, its good - not exceptional. My wife's entree was salty and could barely eat it. My dinner was their special of the night - redfish. It was beautifully done and delicious. While we're aware that this restaurant is mostly a steak place, we wanted to try their other entrees. They succeeded halfway. The service on the other hand was outstanding. Our server was attentive, informative, and efficient. He was great! Overall, for the price point of $75 per person (including a glass of wine, soups and gratuity) their salty chicken entree should have been avoided. It tasted like they brined the chicken but forgot to wash the salt off. Will we go back there again? Time will tell.

Sweet tea brined chicken, green beans and 12 oz strip

We love Peggy's! The ambiance is so nice...l'm not sure how to describe it - rustic class? It just feels comfortable. Tonight it was a little noisy, mainly because of some people near us that were loud. Our server was Hayes and he and his team took excellent care of us. I started with Marie's Country Olive Salad (which is my favorite thing on the menu)) and my husband had the house salad. It was the same price as mine yet quite a bit smaller and with less variety of ingredients. It's just a basic salad so it should be less expensive, IMO. Sweet tea brined chicken breast was my choice. It was good and cooked perfectly (not dry like often happens with chicken breasts) but it and the sauce that was in a little pitcher on the side were a little salty for my taste. The broccolini and potatoes on the side were delicious, though. Husband had the 12 oz New York Strip and a baked potato as a side dish. He said it was one of the best steaks he's had. We also ordered the green beans to share. They are served crisp which is not to everyone's taste. The brownie and ice cream was our shared dessert. It tasted good, but was a little on the dry side. It left me wishing we had gone with a piece of buttermilk pie instead. It wasn't a cheap meal, but it was our anniversary so we splurged a little and felt that, overall, it was worth it.

First time dinning at this restaurant and O was very pleased by their service and food. Our server was so attentive and cordial, his service and attitude were outstanding. The restaurant is very nice and elegant, they have a patio too with very nice lounge furniture and wonderful views. The only thing is a bit hard is the parking, they do not have their own parking, but there is areas around where to park. The experience, food and service are worth the hassle, don't let that to disappoint you. Every dish we ordered was delicious! Look at the pictures and judge by yourself!

My friends and I visited Peggy's On The Green this past weekend for a birthday celebration. As this restaurant is within the hotel, there was plenty of parking right out front and we were able to enter the restaurant from the side. We had reservations and were seated immediately at a large table which was nice. Our group ordered a variety of cocktails and each ordered our own individual meals as well. While I personally ordered the grilled cheese, we all tried each other's dishes as well. The group ordered the following dishes: - Grilled Cheese - Peggy's BLT - Jumbo Crab Cake - Pimento Cheeseburger - Farmer's Cobb Salad - Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos Personally, I thought the BLT ended up being the best of the meals as it was so fresh and really hit the spot. My grilled cheese was good as well, but still left something to be desired. The one thing that I didn't love about this place was the speed of service. Whether it was the water, cocktails or the actual food... it felt like it took them forever (drinks especially). Many of us thought of ordering a second round but decided not to because we didn't think they'd get them to us before we had to leave. Despite the wait times, the staff was very friendly. I would visit this restaurant again, but hope that next time the service would be a bit faster.

I met some family here for lunch and it's a very cute place. They have a nice bar as well but I didn't get a picture but it's off to the side in another room from the dining area. There was only one bartender and like 20 people so it took a bit to get my drink but nonetheless they had my gin that I wanted which was the botanist so I was happy with that. Our waiter was ok and he mentioned that there was a new chef and they were not going to make any substitutions to any place because this would cause chaos and be too confusing and that was very disappointing to hear. I had the iceberg salad which was great because it has blue cheese crumbles and dressing and bacon and to tomatoes so that was great. For my main plate I ordered the crab cake and it was very good, lots of lump crabmeat and the sauce it came with was nice as well. We also had the spinach artichoke dip as well for the table and that was very cheesy and tasted great. Besides the service and new rules from the new chef, it was pretty good.

Super cute place in old building in Boerne. I have been here a few times for lunch and once for brunch, which were all a wonderful experiences so tried it now for dinner with a group of friends. We started in the bar for a cocktails first. Drinks were great, service in bar was just okay. Our dinner table was in far back room. I have had their spinach artichoke dip at lunch and it's the best I have ever had so was looking forward to getting that as an appetizer and sharing with my friends but very disappointed to find out it's not an option at dinner. I'm not sure why that would be an appetizer offered only at lunch. Our service was good, especially for a party of 8. Half of us got the filet, it was delicious. All the sides were great with the friend green tomatoes and green beans as my favorites. Another overall great experience, just need to add spinach artichoke dip to dinner menu.

Ask the Community - Peggy's On The Green

Visiting from Austin and looking for a good sports bar on Thanksgiving weekend 2024 (Friday & Saturday) to watch the many rivalry football games. Would Peggy's on the Green fit that description or would somewhere else be a better fit?

Agree with Geoffrey. No TV’s in the restaurant. Maybe one or two in the bar. Free Roam just a couple blocks away has PLENTY of TV’s.

I would not have been able to find it off the main street. It's nothing fancy in appearance, but it was clean and the staff was nice. We did in line to order. It has that old time, family appeal kind of restaurant. I don't know how else to explain this other than it's food that your southern grandma would make for you. It had all the flavor and all the heart cooked right into it. It's self serve drinks and silverware, etc. I love that they have different size portions of meals. There are so many things to choose from. I normally take a million photos. I apologize because I was so into my visit that I didn't get any except photos of my family. I can tell you we started with fried mushrooms and they were incredible. They were hot and battered perfectly. Add Ranch and I was in heaven. They served it with gravy also-which is a must. Do you ever look back at your visit and wish you had eaten more of something? That's me with the mushrooms, but I was trying to be lady like so I only ate a few. I got chopped beef sirloin that was smothered in onions and brown gravy & fried okra and they serve it with this muffin like roll. It was all so good. The quality of the meat was great and that deep brown gravy compliments the entire dish....grilled onions....oh man...take me back! Let me just tell you my little southern heart was in heaven. Their onion rings are amazing also. The chicken fried steak was great. I mean....i had to take bites of my son's plate also. I don't see how you could go wrong here. I love that you go grab your food and go sit yourself down. This place stayed hopping but they were on their game and had the food out so tables were turning quickly. I didn't see anybody ever waiting to sit. This is just an all in all great place to eat. I wish it wasn't so far away from me, but I will definitely make an effort to be back.

The menu is on the wall and ordering at the counter. There are yummy looking pies in the case. We were happy to see liver and onions with 3 sides. It also came with an incredibly tasty muffin, which we were told was a type of bran muffin. The liver was very thinly sliced and nicely grilled. Sides were generous. We got drinks and my unsweet tea was nicely brewed, which in Texas is expected. Counter staff was friendly and service was quick. The environs are in serious need of an upgrade, which I doubt will happen to keep the prices low. As it is our shared meal and two drinks was about $25. We were very pleased with our meal, the restrooms were clean and easy access, and overall other than extremely dated decor this eatery is a Boerne classic!

The cheese was good too and had some jalapeño bits in it (wish it was a bit spicy but still tasted good). We also ordered tomato smash breakfast potatoes which were so good. The potatoes were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Wish could have had more of these. I ordered a blackberry Mimosa and was very good. I actually prefer it over the orange juice. My meal was called The Sweet Bastard and was good. The French toast was fluffy and liked the cream cheese on top. I did think it was alot of cream cheese but otherwise would get this again. My friend ordered the avocado toast and I really liked her bread (it was a pizza dough they used and bread was fluffy). My other friend ordered Bonfire Benediot and it did look good. I believe the bread was the same as the avocado toast and the eggs looked really good on top. All of our meals looked and tasted really good along with good service overall.
