My first meal back from Japan had to be some roasted chicken. Although, I bet the Japanese could make some fire roasted chicken if they put their mind to it. A lot of people in my comments have been talking about Peking BBQ as a potential chicken Titan, so I made the push to Queens to check it out. Right when I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat as the smell of high quality roasted chicken gracing my nostrils is something that is unmistakable. It's as unmistakable as the smell of a quality NY pizza shop. This spot is a cash only chinese peruvian restaurant that is the definition of no frills. Not a single frill in here. It's straight barebones which I've come to know is a crucial ingredient to ELITE roasted chicken. I got the 1/2 chicken with a side of pork fried rice, and an order of maduros all for under $20. This chicken was as advertised. Crispy golden skin, with the meat being juicy and tender, almost falling off the bone. The perfect contrast. Not Casa Adela level tenderness, but when paired with the green sauce it's tough to beat. I'm tryna drown in that Peruvian green sauce. These maduros were DANCING like an iced out rollie. They were caramelized golden brown with a slightly crisp outside, and a soft interior. Some of the best maduros I've had. I'm slapping a 9.5 on it, which ties it with caravan chicken for #2 on my nyc roasted chicken list. Authors note here, but I'm curious as to the reasoning behind the Chinese Peruvian restaurants. I've seen a few different ones in NYC now so there must be some historical reason for this. I would do a deep dive on google, but I gotta clock into my 9-5 rn. THANK YOU PEKING BBQ! Always a good meal. Juicy, tender ribs and chicken. Pretty fast service for lunch time. Remember, cash only.

You don't come here for the shiny fancy interior, or the best service. You come just for the food. Great price for what you got. I always order to go, just walk past the pick up window, where everyone standing, to small window before the seating area, where people line up to order. Cash only, and they will give you receipt/ ticket to pick up. And wait for your number to be called. Chicken can sometimes a tad salty, but packed with flavor. My favorite thing to get is their chicken fried rice, way better than pork fried rice . Looks like they pre made the pork version, which is understandable cause it goes in every combo, but it just became drier. Woodside staple, would definitely come back

Tried Chinese Peruvian cuisine for the first time at Peking BBQ and wow, it was so good. A friend recommended it and now I get why it's clearly a local favorite. There was already a line forming for their Chinese Peruvian rotisserie chicken. Heads up, it's cash only. They do have the usual American Chinese takeout items, but the Chinese Peruvian dishes are what make this spot stand out. My favorite was the Aguadito, a Peruvian chicken and cilantro soup that was super savory and comforting. I'm a soup girl no matter the weather and this one really hit the spot. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the skin was perfectly crispy. We also got the spare ribs, which were tender and had a nice chew to them. The green Peruvian sauce was the real MVP though I dipped everything in it. It's creamy, slightly spicy, and just so good. Also I loved the yuca fries. They had that crispy outside and chewy potato center. Super worth the price and I'd honestly come back just for the soup, chicken, and that sauce.

Their ribs and chicken are delicious! And the portions are huge. I heard about them from Action Bronson's and finally got the chance to check them out. They are cash only. There were a lot of people waiting for their orders, so it took about 20 mins for mine to be done. There is an inside area with a couple places to sit, but I took my food to go. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Come for the Food, Not the Decor Pekin BBQ on Woodside Ave serves delicious, hearty Chinese BBQ at great prices. I usually order the 1/4 Chicken with Fried Rice juicy, flavorful, and packed with veggies. The ribs are rich, fatty, and full of flavor definitely a highlight. The portions are huge and always satisfying. That said, the interior leaves a lot to be desired. It looks outdated, a bit dirty, and the bathrooms could definitely use a deep clean. The owners should consider upgrading the dining space it would make a big difference. Still, you don't come here for the ambiance you come for the food, and the food truly trumps the look and feel of the place.

Almost didn't want to review this place so no one finds out about it! Classic hidden gem in Queens for Chinese / Peruvian fusion. I don't think I've ever had better ribs than here. Been coming for over 20 years and it's just as good as it's ever been. Come hungry!

Yummy peruvian rotisserie chicken and beef w broccoli. I was actually more blown away by the beef broccoli flavor than the chicken w green sauce. I was bummed they didn't have fried bananas, but the yuca was tasty. The staffs were kind and the wait wasnt too long. The green sauce was fresh and herb and not spicy. Perfect for friends who aren't able to tolerate spicy food. The spare ribs were juicy and flavorful!! Overall, a bit expensive. This order was $50 ish. We shared among 4, it was plenty enough.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to check this place out. Perhaps it was because the place is always bustling and there seems to be an endless line of people waiting to order. Having finally tried their famous chicken, I can say it was definitely worth the wait (and the line moves very quickly). My husband and I ordered a whole chicken and five piece ribs, because we knew we would want leftovers. The ribs were decent, but the chicken is clearly the star. It's so juicy and well seasoned, and the skin is perfectly browned and flavorful. The portions are very generous as well. I can see why this place attracts so many regulars and is such a neighborhood gem.

I really need to explore Woodside more. How have I passed up Peking BBQ for so long? Sometimes you need your local Peruvian/Chinese eatery for a meal to hit the spot. Woodside is lucky enough to have Peking BBQ. This no frills, CASH ONLY, spot is worth every penny you scrounged up from the cup holder in your car. And while the menu looked amazing, it was a bit overwhelming. So much to choose from ranging from ribs and rotisserie chicken to lo mein and fried yucca. What do you choose?! The decision was made to go pretty straight forward with a #1. This had pork fried rice and 2 pieces of chicken. Picky with the type of chicken you eat (i.e dark/white meat, breast of drumstick)? Note there will be an up charge with your request. I'm not at all mad about this because I'm from the camp of "you get what you get and you don't get upset". Two nice sizes pieces of delicious, rotisserie chicken sat on a bed of super tasty pork fried rice. The kicker is their green sauce. Again, you're gonna be charged if you want extra. WORTH EVERY PENNY! We cut the heat with some sweet plantains. I wish they would have been a bit on the sweeter side, but all in all very good and made fresh. Ordering, is a breeze and service was quick. Great hidden gem in Woodside. Next time, I'm coming for the ribs!

This is for all the people who love Peruvian chicken...and if you don't like Peruvian chicken, you will love it once you try this place. My wife and I have been buying Peruvian rotisserie chicken from this place for probably more than 15 years. Even though years ago we have moved far from this area, we still take the 40-60 minute drive just to buy our favorite chicken here. What really makes the rotisserie chicken special is the matching unique and incomparable Peruvian green sauce that they have. I have already tried so many Green sauces and Peruvian places, but the spicy Peruvian green sauce in this special joint is unparalleled. If you don't believe me, you just have to try it yourself.

I would gave them a 2 star for yesterday's experience. First, the place was empty on a Friday night at 10:00pm. Probably have 3 takeout order while we were sitting down. The first time I went was on a weekday night back in December, and there were more patrons. Not sure if the place is going down hill, but they dont have slushies anymore. We had the mango slushies the first time, and the only drinks available was whatever bottle drinks they have in the fridge. Mind you, they dont serve you water, so you have to get drinks since the food is garlicky or spicy. We wound up getting the milk tea ice rice this time. It was ok. I never tried it, but the rice is a bit hard. I won't order again. Best dish is large eggplant. Very flavorable, maybe a bit too garlicky. Will order this again. Also, the chicken wing is huge, for the price of $3 each. Thats why we ordered 2 chicken wing this time. But, I think it wasnt grilled as nice as my first time. Still good since it is a lot of meat for the price of $3. Lotus root is also pretty good, glazed with sugar. The worst i would say is the lamb, a bit too chewy, lack of flavor. The bathroom has all sorts of postcard of famous album. I found that pretty neat. Lastly, I think the squid tentacles is much smaller than before.

It was so cold out the night I went so I was very happy they kept it nice and warm inside the restaurant. There's a very large selection of skewers, they have basically everything you could want. I especially appreciate that you can order just one of any skewer, unlike some other places where certain types only come in orders of 3 etc, allowing you to order a large variety even if you're dining alone. The seasoning was delicious, and every skewer was not coated in identical seasoning. None of it was spicy at all if that's what you're looking for, but none were lacking in flavor. The meat was juicy and you could taste the smoke from the grill. I loved the different textures of vegetables which were all well cooked. I'm still thinking about the crunchy exterior of the rice cake. I think my favorite skewer was the lotus root, which was perfecting complimented by the seasoning mix. An amazing meal! 16 skewers came out to less than $50. I look forward to returning!

It was my first time having Chinese BBQ cart skewers and I was an instant fan. I've gone back a bunch, taking other people with me. By far my favorites are the lamb, pork, and enoki mushroom, ordered spicy of course. The lamb is so tender, and the mushrooms are just so fun to eat. They're slippery, they are hard to chew, they don't break apart, they get stuck in my teeth, and I end up swallowing large bites which are covered in that spicy sauce and make me choke and...I just love it! I can't explain it, there's something about the chewiness and heat that while inconvenient, I really enjoy. The beef is also solid. The squid is OK. The chicken gizzards are not bad, I'm still developing a taste for them but they are not overcooked and tough here. The only thing I'd say to skip are the shrimp, they come out with their shells still on and are just rubbery. Cash only, if it's not obvious. If you buy something like $20 or more they give you a free soda. They have some stools set up if you want to eat it right there, but they're usually under the awning of New Golden Sparkling market and well, there's a lot of birds and bird poop there. I would just walk with it. There are lots of BBQ carts up and down Broadway, but I think the meat here is the best (not tough or fatty), and the service is always great. The main guy manning the grill doesn't speak too much English, but there's usually a younger guy helping him who does. Even without the help, ordering is easy, you just say the type of skewer you want, how many, and if you want it spicy. If you're really struggling, point! But it's never come to that.
