This is another Chester restaurant that I have frequented over many years. I typically go during the Sunday buffet. The buffet is always fresh and replenished quickly. Me and my wife ate here because we were around the area. The inside is really nice. Cool decorations and it looked clean. My wife ordered General Tso's chicken, not spicy and I ordered the Hunan chicken, extra spicy. She ordered wonton soup and I ordered hot and sour soup as appetizers. She said her soup was a little bland and my soup was as sour or as spicy as I like it to be, but it was okay. The food came out in about 15 minutes which may have been a little longer but were arguing about who is better, Megaman or Yoshi lol. The presentation of the food was nice. She said the chicken was pretty good but not as good as some other places. My Hunan chicken was pretty good as well. The vegetables were nice and crunchy and the brown sauce they use is pretty tasty. The food and service are top notch. I ordered take out online and the food was ready as I arrived 10 minutes later. I ordered the Hunan Shrimp, hot and sour soup, and a spring roll. I always love a table-service Chinese restaurant and here was no exception. Very extensive menu from which I ordered springs rolls (3) and home style tofu. The spring rolls came with a sweet and sour (with hints of strawberry) sauce and a very strong ginger sauce that will clear your sinuses. Chow mein noodles are provided for snacking while waiting for the meal. The tofu came with bell peppers, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, mushrooms, cabbage, onions, and what I think was bok choy. Peking restaurant has a tasteful decor, is very clean and the staff are very pleasant. The staff were perfectly attentive to the customer's needs. The food was beautifully presented, tasteful and a reasonable quantity. The only reason that Peking restaurant was not given a five star rating is, anyone who has experienced authentic Chinese cuisine it is not as the star rating systems says, "...As good as it gets." If I could give it a zero I would. I got the spring rolls. They were ok, but tasted like they were straight from the box. Served on a piece of lettuce. When I lifted said lettuce the plate was dirty and red. Mind you there is nothing red on the plate. Tofu home style= inedible bland and soggy while the veggies were barely cooked. Sent it back and lost my appetite. Didn't get anything else. My server didn't seemed phased by this. She was super nice and helpful! Husband got the sweet and sour pork. Bland and gross. White rice was dry. Here is the kicker, as soon as we got to the car my husband immediately felt his stomach turn. A 10 minute drive became a race to get home before he emptied his stomach contents in my car. Finally made it home, he ran straight to the bathroom and rid himself of that foul meal. Duck, duck, goose.... Peking Restaurant in Chester has plenty of crispy duck and it was delicious in the plum gravy on the side. We also ordered steamed dumplings (yum) and the super bowl beef with vegetables. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The server was very friendly and informative. The ambiance was clean and cozy. Family style dining! Large portions. Order several dishes and pass them around the table. I ordered the crispy duck. That sucker was dry! The only thing that helped it was the duck sauce that came with it. If you decide to try it's prepare yourself for a long wait. Went last night and ordered Kung Pao chicken. Should have been Kung Pao celery. Was not at all spicy and not very good. Too much celery. Hot and Sour soup was the weakest I've had. It was on our Tuesday lunch agenda to try this place out. We were bit impatient for the food and ordered the "Lunch specials", which we thought would be quick! Nah...we waited like 20 mins before the food arrived. Really kicked steam out of us. The soups were ok, not great, the wonton was not very exciting. The food portion were sufficient but blend, did not have that punch of eating the Chineese food! You have an option of augmenting your dish with some topup sauces if you would like! But guys! Chineese should smell and taste CHINEESE..... that was not happening, it was just like any other blend food....which killed the fun! The food was pretty tasty, however the disappointing part has to do with the reason why I wanted to try this place. Out of all the Chinese restaurants in the area it was the only place that offered "pan fried crispy noodles". Yeah.... Needless to say I didn't get that. Actually it couldn't have been any further from what I got. They took linguine and after it was boiled they fried it in a pan to brown it a bit. Come on man. Quality was less than expected. Especially for the price. Ordered the Peking duck and it was not like any other duck we've eaten (and I lived in Asia over 10 years). I'm usually a fan of this place. Lately they have had a lot of swing and a miss and have had little improvements. The food it was fair nothing to write home about . The blond girl that waited on us was nice but not very proactive . When we finally waved her down from hanging out talking and laughing.after waiting forever to bring the drinks she went for .She brought us the wrong drinks and laugh half way making us think it was intentional. I'm usually pretty easy going with Waite staff since I've been there done that but this was bad by even my standards. Guess we won't be coming back anytime soon. We were fair and left a tip as it's not as easy job and things do go wrong. Really thought though there was something not quite right and the changes as of late have not been for the better. It's not spicy at all, so I can't imagine what "regular spice" would be. Literally, this is so mild that I there's almost no flavor. Also, there's hardly any sauce, and the chicken cuts are fatty. My husband ordered the peking lo mein, which--while not good--was better than my chicken. They get two stars for how quickly it was ready, and for giving us a variety of rice options (one fried one steamed). I won't be going back, but I'm so disappointed! We dined here on a Thursday. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs but not to the point of excessive. We started with the Dim Sum appetizer which we found to be cold and under cooked.
