When I grew up in India, I loved the Chinese food there. That kind of food, a little specialized to Indian taste buds are also available as Indo-Chinese restaurants. When I looked at the menu here, I notice Chop Suey. While Chop Suey is relatively very less spicy, it used to be available as "American Chop Suey" in India. I bet it was for clients who did not want it to be too spicy. I ordered a large here and there it was, with its plethora of vegetables, as the recipe calls for. I really liked it and the taste of the whole dish. With a little rice, it went in smoothly. PS: Not a sit-in place. I suppose some of the bad reviews are related to the look & feel. My rating is purely on the food not the atmosphere. This was the best Chinese food that I have had in Brewster area in a while. The orange chicken was really good and nice and crispy. Pork lo mein was the best I've had in a long time. By far the best egg rolls, crispy on the outside and very good inside. Wonton soup was also very good too. The only knock is the place looks dumpy when you walk in, but trust me order Take out and you will be fine. If you're at the Brewster MTA station and need to eat, this place is it. Peking Garden is definitely the best Chinese take-out around. It looks like a dump, but get past that, their food will cure your hangover and make you happy. I just wish this place delivered. Their best dish is definitely the General Tso's, which is crispy, SPICY and perfectly portioned (don't you hate obscenely large pieces of chicken?) But the chicken and broccoli, chicken chow mein and egg rolls are great as well. Oddly, they have fried chicken and french fries which was not bad either. Finally, go in for the $4.45 lunch special from 11-3, but ask for an eggroll as it's not included in the price. read more

Every so often I find myself hungry for Chinese food and make the enormous mistake of thinking I could get it here. This excuse for a restaurant thrives in a busy town where 99 out of 100 folks don't have a clue what decent food is supposed to taste like. It's easy to forget just how bad the food is here because I tend to throw it out after a few bites and eat anything else in sight so I can get the taste out of my mouth. This time around I was in the middle of a snow storm and found myself nearby. For some stupid reason I was actually happy that they were still open. Following a craving I got a large order of spare ribs ($13). In the bag were 5 large bones with sparse meat slathered with a strangely bad sticky mess of barbecue sauce. Every bite showed promise but couldn't deliver a decent taste of spare rib I was hoping for. Disappointed and still hungry I started on a chef's special, Mongolian beef. What I found was a foul smelling pile of onions with a little bit of off-tasting beef and scallions (aren't they in the onion family also?) and a sauce that tried to survive on looks alone. I was able to extract the few pieces of meat and add it to the white rice (clearly their best dish if eaten alone). I implore everyone to drive, take the bus, walk or even crawl if you must to the next town over, in any direction really if what you desire is what you call Chinese food. If I could afford it I would love to take anyone who thinks the food here is good to another restaurant so they will come to understand how good it could really be. But, if you feel adventurous and wish to disregard my warnings, go ahead and eat here. You will regret it. read more

Been coming here for 10+ years. Food is decent and service is too. It is the only place in Brewster to get Chinese food. Due to that, it is COMPLETELY overpriced. If you are a party of 2 or more, just don't even bother. You are better off going out to eat. Stinks it's the only Chinese around. Not sure if I'll be returning. read more

Came in starving half to death after a rehearsal right before catching the train back to NYC. Good ol' New York-style Chinese food. The place is actually quite spacious and there is plenty of room to sit down comfortably and have a meal by yourself or with friends/family- there are a lot of tables and chairs. Listen... This place is good. The only reason I'm writing this is because I wanted to see if they had a menu online and I came across some less than accurate reviews. If you don't like the looks of the place inside, go back to Connecticut. Don't give me no shit about cockroaches thats just stupid. The food is good. I grew up in Brewster and have a certain fondness for Peking. Through college and moving out of town I have never been able to find a place that does a halfway decent job. I have a theory about Chinese take-outs that is the quality of the food is the direct inverse to the cleanliness of the establishment. The five star review is relative to chinese take-outs so you could imagine what the place looks like. Peking could really use a scrubbing but I overlook it all for great outside of the city Chinese food. They're always busy but they'll get your food out quick if you give them a chance. It's located in carp hole Brewster, but its very good take out Chinese food. They do a lot of business , so the ingredients are always fresh. Secret family recipe for the ribs, I suggest the boneless ribs over fried rice. Staff and owner are always friendly. Prices are excellent. Lunch specials for 4 bucks, can't beat it. Would give it a 5 star, but the village is brutal. read more
