I just wanted to go back to the Backpackers Shop because I knew they'd have multiple things to choose from for the needs. They took the time to help me get set up with everything I needed for fishing on Lake St. Clair, answered all of my questions, and made sure I left with the right gear for the lake. What really impressed me happened after I left. I had mentioned we were heading across the street for lunch, and after we left I realized an expensive spool of fishing line that I'd already paid for had been left behind. Instead of waiting for me to figure it out, they called the restaurants across the street until they found us so I could come back and pick it up. That level of customer service is incredibly rare. They truly went above and beyond, and they've absolutely earned a customer for life!

At mile post 100, ready for a break from the road I fired up the old google map in search of a sporting goods store, and Suri dutifully revealed to me this Dick's Sporting Goods in Sandusky, OH. It's a great store. Huge, well lit, very few dark corners. They have everything from athletic wear to Zamboni parts. The staff was almost creepily helpful. After checking out their skate gear, lacrosse sticks, bodybuilding equipment and sundry other offerings, I settled on a full set of football gear. The boy's uncle had told me that he really wanted to play pee-wee football but was not allowed because one of the major side effects of Meyers-Briggs syndrome is excessive crying. But there's no reason he can't dress up like his heroes of the gridiron! I picked him up a Riddell helmet, Cleveland Browns jersey, pads, pants, and a tiny little jock strap all for less than $200! On the way out I grabbed myself a new set of Adidas shower shoes, some Quench gum, and I was on my way. I'll be sure to check out Dick's in my hometown, but it's unlikely I'll have cause to revisit Dick's in Sandusky.

I have fished w/ SO every Spring for the past 10 years. I was part of the original group sponsored…read moreby TCO in PA in 2016. This has always been a great fly rod smallmouth bass guide service in previous years. I have taken my son on 2 occasions and 4 other friends over a decade. This April I contacted my guide 10 days before a planned trip w/ concerns about fishing conditions given "100-year rains", a heavy winter snow-pack and flooding in Michigan w/ numerous tailwater dams being threatened. I was assured that the guide "was on the water and conditions were fine". This was a bold-faced lie. I traveled 350+ miles from 3 states away to find the Grand and Huron Rivers 5 feet above the high water mark in flood stage flowing like rapids with water clarity similar to chocolate milk. I specifically suggested that I was happy to reschedule later in the season when conditions were more favorable. I fully understand that guides have a limited season but lying about conditions to maintain income is just wrong. When all is said and done SO essentially stole $1,600 from me given booking fees, guide fees and tip, gas, food and lodging. Don't trust them in the future to have integrity in representing the conditions. They will say anything to preserve income. They have lost a client for life.
