There were many parents who pulled their students out of the school because of the lack of fun things in the lack of activities. It's pretty sad. I feel bad for those kids. There are several other better Jewish schools, such as JCC. Do not send your child to Beth El. They harass you when you pull your child out and the activities are unbelievably boring for the kids.

Rabbi Sirner is like the Sandy Koufax of rabbis...no joke. Sure, he may confuse me for my brother when I see him, but since I only see him, maybe, once a year...I forgive him. In all seriousness, he is a real mensch...and a rabbi's rabbi. I have many warm memories of sitting with my family, as a child, listening to Cantor Avery and Rabbi Sirner lead the congregation. As a former CIT, I can also highly recommend the day camp.

This synagogue is a true testimony to Jewish survival and continuity. It is the last remaining full…read moretime synagogue in Co-Op City, after the passing of Rabbi Solomon Berl and the subsequent closure of the Young Israel of Co Op City in section 1, and before that, the closure of several other synagogues, such as the Co Op City Jewish Center (Conservative). Despite the official name, this shul is Orthodox and a member of National Council of Young Israel, although members of all levels of observance and affiliations are welcome. The rabbi, Moshe Grussgott, is a true talmid hakham and is a warm, inviting, friendly man. Rabbi Saul Berman, one of the leading minds and gaonim of the Modern Orthodox community, davens here, as do a few friends of mine. Even Ismar Schorsch, the former chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary, used to daven here. In addition to a robust learning program and robust davening, Ramath Orah also features a beautiful space and a great kiddush.
