Yummy southern fare worth trying! Service friendly too! Will go back again and again.

We visited on a Sunday during lunch hours. It was a bit busy. Our server was prompt with drink orders, etc., but getting our food seemingly took eternity which was likely a kitchen issue. Once we got it, the temps of some items were lukewarm. A couple of our guests ordered the pot roast special and complained about the really small portion of roast received in comparison to the vegetables. It was brought to our servers' attention, but she just stated that's all that came with the special. I ordered the Fried Liver which was adequate. The fried okra and broccoli casserole was lukewarm. Overall, the food was subpar. As far as the the restaraunt, it is older and outdated. Expect no thrills and although it's a "steakhouse", I wouldn't trust eating a steak here. read more

Food is really good and the service is friendly and prompt. Prices seem fair considering food quality and portion size. It's not a super fancy first date kinda spot but it's a nice cozy place for a nice relaxing meal. I tried the ribeye and was happy with my choice. read more

I was there today for lunch for the very first time, I am so surprised how it turned out so quickly filled up with people, I ordered filet mignon medium rare, it was soft and tasty the only thing that bothers me is the steak is not hot or even warm it seems to me it was in room temperature. The steak is on the hot plate and it's not even warm, other than that it's tasty and soft. Ambiance is okay and the server is nice. Wished I took picture. read more

I read some reviews past and present, but wanted to give it a try ourselves to be objective about this older restaurant. It is a pretty casual Mom and pop restaurant, we're pretty much you can see yourself and your waitress will come and take your drink orders. Casual dining with antique or old school type feel or vibe. Staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered jalapeño poppers for appetizer (wife loved them) and wife, ordered fillet mignon, with baked potato and a salad. I ordered a two-piece catfish dinner with Cajun fries and coleslaw. My wife was not blown away by the dinner salad, as it seem to have cheaper iceberg Lettuce and remnants, a little cheese, tomatoes and possibly some carrots. But her steak made up for any shortcoming with her salad. Tasty cooked to order! My catfish was very good as well, perfectly cooked and flaky, which came with good size hush puppies as well. Cajun fries were pretty good and the slaw was surprisingly great! I love Mom & Pop restaurants, especially these days with so many big chains coming in to medium to smaller towns and driving out the local restaurants. We would definitely recommend and would come back to try something different. Steaks are not cheap, but most good steaks are not with any restaurant these days. read more

I've eaten at the steakhouse for 40+ years. The food has always been pretty good. The hamburger steak seems to be their speciality. The service has always been a hit or miss depending on the night, crowd, or available staff. With that said, the inside hasn't changed since I've been going there. Really outdated! Since there are limited places to eat in Pell City, I ate here three times on a recent visit. I call this average. For two meals I ordered the salad topped with fried chicken. It was pretty basic but good. The vegetable plate with collards with cabbage, lima beans, carrots and peach cobbler was okay. The collards and lima beans were tasty. The cobbler was pretty bland. The carrots had no seasoning - just boiled. I'd stick with the salad if I'm ever in the area again. read more

We ate there about 4 weeks ago on a Saturday. Everything from the staff to the food was outstanding. After one visit we decided to add the place to our favorites list. I had the beef tips over rice and my wife's food had the steak. Today we went back. My mash potatoes and meatloaf was cold. My wife's fried okra was cold and there was a good size bone in her turkey and dressing. I'm not sure how a place can go from that good to that bad in the span of a month. I decided to combine the reviews into one with a score of 3. If we go back I will edit this to include the visit. I will definitely withdraw my recommendations given to friends until the issues are resolved. read more

We haven't been here in 10 years - we looking for southern comfort food - both of us had Hamburger steak with onions and gravy - I got French fries with gravy on them also - she had baked potato with butter and sour cream and we both had dinner salad - ranch and thousand island - salad just ok - little too much cheese and baco bits instead of real bacon but overall an excellent meal - dinner rolls store bought but were warm and soft and fresh - definitely will be back to eat again - maybe next time will try a steak! Ohhhh by the way the chocolate silk pie is as good as and five star fine dining restaurant in Birmingham, AL - it is 5 stars by itself. read more

Oh my gosh! This place is Awesome! Set to a 70s steak house decor and fabulous food from that era. We got there early to avoid the crowds and good thing we did, there was about 25 people when line when we left. The staff was fast and friendly and spent time explaining the food and busy times. I got the cube steak with gravy, creamed potatoes and candied yams. Could I have been more satisfied? Only if I ordered again. The meat was seasoned properly and oh so tender. Table mate got the chicken n dressing and was pleasantly pleased. It's my understanding Saturday afternoon during fall football season is the best time to avoid the crowds and get that perfectly cooked steak. Thirty or so years ago, this was our favorite place in Pell City. We ate here every time we were in town. My parents loved it too and ate there every time they came over from Atlanta. We bought a home at Logan Martin so went back to this restaurant three times. All bad. New owners have let it run down. Food not good. But service was good. They even had some cheap fish instead of the great catfish they used to have. Veggies not good. Not going back. Sad. This was a great place. Lots of choices in Pell City. read more

So I would recommend coming when they first open because a good majority of their food is made from scratch and when it's gone it's gone . The owner was our waiter and he was a very kind gentleman. So the food is good .. but don't get excited it's now Wow it's more of a ehh it does the job . They do drinks by the can so There is a refill charge . The plates are cafeteria styled so agin not bojee but it a local staple . I would recommend going in here and giving them a shot read more

We saw this restaurant thinking "oh it's a hole in the wall, it must be good!" Needless to say, it was awful, and I'm not the type of person to complain about food. We all got something different and every bit of it was cold, dry and flavorless.. The rolls were stale, and they were out of several items we ordered and they didn't let us know until after our order was put in. The waitress was extremely rude, she treated us like we were idiots any time we asked about something on the menu, or if we could simply get straws for our drinks. When we got up to pay and leave, we told the lady at the front that our food was horrible and she got angry and yelled at us saying "there is just no way" and said she could give us a discount, but still didn't. $80 later, we decided we would never be going back to try again. Their prices for the food quality is absolutely ridiculous! I would have rather spent my money at McDonalds or Taco Bell. 0/10, do NOT recommend. This place sucks. read more

$30 on cold turnip greens, a fried chicken breast (kfc wouldve been better), and something they called zuchinni & tomatoes but it was just juice -- a soggy tomato cut up ans one slice of rotten cucumber. It's was 1990.... Okay no it was just 2019 and they brought me a can drink out with a cup of ice then they make you pay for refills. No way cat, the steak was "ight" but nothing I couldn't of cooked up at home. This restaurant has been a staple in the community but it really needs an upgrade y'all. read more

We have lived in the area about 18 months. This was our first and only visit to this restaurant. The decor is outdated, but that is irrelevant as long as the food is good, which it wasn't. IMO the menu is overpriced. $5 for a slice of pie, $2 for a can of coke with no refills. The hostess was pleasant seated us right away. The waitress kept our drinks filled but she seemed indifferent to being there. My husband ordered the filet mignon med rare with vegetable and I ordered the strip steak well done with baked potato. His didn't look like mignon and it was still mooing. Mine was red in the middle. We sent them back. They were correct on the second try; however, the potato was hard and the veggie was cold. As another reviewer said, the rolls appear to be from a package. Last straw was the generic ketchup. Heinz is the only respectable choice. My husband said the sweet tea was good. The steak had good flavor. The service was reasonably quick for a Fri night when most are short staffed. Another downside, the credit card machine didn't offer a way to leave a tip. After dining at the horrible restaurant fiasco known as The Broiler Room (I don't suggest it) we decided to give dinner out another shot. We entered "Pell City Steak House" and was seated by a friendly hostess. Our waitress was wonderful, and if you've read any of my reviews, you will see I am very picky. As a consumer, I expect to get what I pay for, and why shouldn't I? Why shouldn't YOU? After looking over the menu, I chose the filet-mignon. I explained what a horrible steak I had had at The Broiler Room, and I was very specific about how I wanted it cooked. She stood patiently, and listened to my instructions, and when she brought me the steak, it was PERFECT! One of the best steaks I've ever had. Tender, juicy, and delicious! I would of given them a 5 star rating, but they don't have a large "sides" selection, and the restaurant is extremely dated. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 weeks later, a friend and I went here for lunch. We each had a burger and fries. It was typical burger & fries fare, with great service again and not too pricey. I'll go back again and do recommend. read more

We droped in for lunch, while on a Thriftstore/antique store day trip while visiting in ala. Lunch special was catfish fillets with two sides and a dexsert. Better than average small town meat and 3. I dine here at least once virtually every time I'm working in town. They offer a full steakhouse / seafood restaurant menu. I've only ever gone in for lunch. Today I had fried chicken, lima beans, turnip greens and fried cauliflower. The fried cauliflower was completely new to me. I hadn't heard of it. I do; however, realize I'm in Alabama and anything can and will be deep fried. The fried chicken is always quite good. Lightly breaded juicy and freshly prepared. The limas and greens were ok. The fried cauliflower was really good. It was fantastically made as unhealthy as possible with a thick beer batter. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I quite enjoyed it and would order it again. For under $8.00 it was a good meal at a good value. The building and interior are extremely dated. Service is always prompt and friendly. My coworkers all enjoyed their meals as well. The strawberry cobbler was their favorite part of the meal. read more
