I was in Bellingham for my friend's graduation at Western Washington University and one of friend's recommended Pelmeni. I've had Pelmeni before at the Seattle location, unsure of the two are related though, but I've found them to be quite tasty then. Pelmeni is Bellingham was just as delicious! I got the beef dumplings topped with cilantro, bread, hot sauce, vinegar, and sour cream. It was savory and very filling. They give you a lot of dumplings for the price. It was a great meal before attending the graduation ceremonies. I honestly wouldn't go this far to go to this location but if I'm somehow in the area again, I know this is a great spot! read more

This place has lots of positive qualities to it! It has only two (technically three) options on the menu, potato or beef dumplings or combo of both. This was perfect for me as an indecisive person. (Obviously I got the combo!!) The dumplings were nice and affordable for an amount that had me filled to the brim. Also Im not a fan of downtown especially the parking spots BUT I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of parking near this place. The hardest decision was choosing where to park! Your food will be $9, with either potato or beef pierogis. Just say "one beef" or "one potato" at counter. With a drink it is $10, or used to be. The rye bread is bad and dry but if you soak up the vinegar it is not so bad. Prepare to find some of the other kind of pierogis in your order. Load up on the sauces, pepper and sour cream! Well, worth the hour drive from Marysville! These dumplings are absolutely delicious. They're affordable, fast, and Yum Yum and in the Tum Tum!! I crave these, and have drove the hour just to get them, just to turn around and drive home. They are delicious!! read more

On our way up to Vancouver, as it was quite late, we decided to find a place in Bellingham for a light meal that opens late, and this restaurant checks all the boxes! We went around 10pm and it was not too busy - 1 other table was dining. You walk to the counter to place the order - there's no menu as they only serve beef or potato pelmeni, and we got to do the mix (half and half) for $9 (tax included). In this economy, it is getting harder to find places like this. Portions are good for a lighter meal for 1 person, so if you get it as a snack, sharing it with 2 people is sufficient. Don't forget the sour cream - it's not the American or Mexican sour cream that's strong to the senses. This is very creamy and like a yogurt so we guiltlessly devoured it while eating the dumplings! Not going to lie we heard about this place a year earlier when we were in the area for a pub crawl and we missed out. This time around we were not going to make the same mistake. We did stop in after a pub crawl. The smells as you walk in the place were amazing. Pretty busy late at night, and from what I heard from everyone for good reason. The lady behind the counter took our order and was also the one doing the cooking. Took only 10 minutes or so. Upon receiving them we ate a little bit of each kind. They were both flavorful and delicious, but I prefer the one with curry more, though you can't go wrong either way. We did not finish them but put them in the fridge. Just note the next day they are just as good. We didn't heat them up, just cold. Pretty sure this will be a staple whenever we are in town. The hype is real!! read more

Highly recommend by my girlfriend, she said this was one of her favorite late night snacks. This shop only serves two items - beef and potato dumplings. I got the combination that came with both types of dumplings that are then topped with curry powder, cilantro, Siracha and served with side of sour cream and bread. Pelmeni is the Russian word for dumplings (in case you were wondering, as I was). A review said they've changed the dumpling size, but not that I can tell looking at older photos. Anyway, even if accurate, they were a fine size for me. I shared an order of the potato dumplings as a snack, and they were super delicious. I especially liked the curry topping, as well as the cilantro, sour cream, and hot sauce. The rye bread was good, too. I enjoyed them with or without the hot sauce (sriracha-like), but didn't try the vinegar (sounds interesting). $9 for about a dozen and a half dumplings seems like a good value in today's economy. The person who took our order also made the dumplings. He did a great job at both! Had to have these again. The second time we did try the vinegar, along with all the other toppings. Incredible dumpling spot pretty close to the I5. Stopped in here after a long delay at the border and our usual stop was closed and it did NOT disappoint. Menu is very simple. Two options: beef or potato. Your dumplings come topped with curry powder and hot sauce and cilantro. Highly recommend grabbing some sour cream on the side as it balances everything so well. Dumplings are made to order, so you may be waiting a while on a busy day, but the wait is well worth it. We ordered one portion each and ended up ordering another for the road they were so delicious. Not a ton of seating inside (3 small tables) but they pack everything to go as well. We had a great meal here. We tried the meat and the potato ones. We got it without the hot sauce. They are really good dipped in the sour cream. And they were made after we ordered, so they were fresh. We also got soda, which came in cans. I do wish there was some type of side dish like a salad or fries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are some tables and chairs, but not a lot. On a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty full. They did not have a high chair. The dumplings are delicious but the portions and size of dumplings was sad tonight. My partner goes in after work and brings the food home. I open my container and I could see the bottom. I want to start off by saying overall I really enjoyed this place and the food was good. There was not a "wow" factor and I was both disappointing with the authenticity of the food and also the portion vs. the price. I come from a russian background and my mother makes this food often at home. While this is a chain, and I understand it is not going to taste quite the same there were still some critiques I had of the food. I was surprised that there was a sweet hot sauce and cilantro, typically traditional Russian dumplings do not come with these specific garnishes. Usually you add dill, mayo, red onions or vinegar. Not hot sauce and cilantro... I was told that the recipe was either from some Russian lady or off Google. Either way, I was surprised. Now the price point, it was 7$ for 20 dumplings, which were very small. I think this is a good snack, but if you are looking for a place for dinner and you are hungry, this will not be the place to go. I would come back here, and try it again. I also think the meat dumplings were more authentic than the potato. Overall I would recommend this place, but just know it wont be a authentic dish if that is what you are expecting.
