Edwin and his crew at Pena Racing are awesome and have been taking care of me and my bike for the past five years. Last week I brought my 20-year old cruiser in for a regular motor oil change and to repair a broken fork seal. The total cost for the motor oil change and replacing both fork seals was only $300 and the Pena crew even cleaned the mess from the front forks and wheel caused by the leaking fork oil -- everything looked brand new when I rode off. I found Pena Racing because I used to live in the neighborhood, which made it easy to drop off and pick up my bike; however, I since moved to Glendale but still get my bike serviced at Pena Racing because I know the work will be done right at the right price. Pena Racing Team came highly recommended by a friend in the area and I was not disappointed. (LEONARD!!!!!) Even though I arrived a bit earlier than their 10am opening hour, they kindly guided me into the shop and shortly after, Ed took down my information as well as the job needed. He was courteous and friendly to explain things and offered his insight and let me choose the jobs I wanted done. He told me it would take about 1:30 hours but they finished up the job in about 1 hour for an oil change, chain tightening, and overall inspection. Upon completion of the job, Ed showed me the breakdown of cost and explained a few things on my bike that I would need to keep an eye on. He was very friendly and helpful! I took my two Honda EX 250 TRX to peña auto racing team, which are known for giving a lot of carburetor problems. They fixed it, one of them started leaking gas again after I took it to the desert due to a bad filter and the needle or w.e it was so I took it back, they did not charge me, they fixed it right and showed great customer service. So I decided to bring my bike in for some work it needed. That is when stuff didn't turn out as good as I thought. Every repair that was done I had to go back and have redone once or twice. He was honest and fair but still had to keep going back for redos. Then my piston blew and I brought the bike there. Have a freeway illegal scooter in DTLA has made getting services and repairs a bit difficult when the closest Yamaha dealership is in Marina del Rey. However, as Joy O. said, if you need scooter servces or repair and live east of Mid City, Pena Racing Team is where it's at. After having disappointing experiences with Vespa Los Angeles AND being turned away from a couple of Chinese scooter shops since "they don't work on Yamahas" (this was for a simple break lever replacement, mind you), Pena Racing Team has my business. Edwin was a fantastic contact throughout my experience. We told him what we needed, he ordered it with a 1 day turnaround, and had it installed in less than 10 minutes. Unebelievable. Not only that, prices are extremely fair and reasonable. I really can't say enough good things about this place. These folks did a really nice job. I brought in my DR650 because all electrical power cut out while I was on the freeway. I tried to chase down the problem after I got a tow home but when I realized I was in over my head I brought it to Peña. The whole experience was easy, and everyone there was really pleasant to deal with. No ego, and good communication. It the repair did take a while but to be fair, I told them that I wasn't in a rush because I was headed out of town, and they were up front about how busy they were, and the timeline so no fault there. They were also transparent about the potential costs and likely problems. I appreciated that. Once they located the problem, a bad ignition switch, they made an attempt to find a used part. In the end we ended up installing a new switch but it was very considerate to spend time trying to find a used option. In the end the price was very fair. They also fixed a bunch of little things on the bike at no extra cost: a sticky indicator switch which had not worked for months, replaced some old fuel hoses, cleaned up the bike a little, and now the side-stand is buttery smooth to deploy. They didn't have to do any of this, but they did. It speaks to their care for what they do. I'll definitely be recommending Peña to my friends. Thanks! read more

This is my new go-to shop for any bike issues and tune ups! Stopped by Thursday at around 12:40, no appointment to get my oil changed and get my bike inspected and took about an hour to finish. I just bought the bike and wanted everything that need to be checked, checked. I brought my ninja 300 to Edwin to get the work done and I'm happy I brought it here. He not only did my oil change, but also cleaned/lubed the chain, touched up the clutch AND changed my front bake because it was used up by the prior owner all for a super awesome price!!! Since moving to Mid City, we've taken our Yamaha Majesty 400cc scooter all the way to the Yamaha place in freaking Marina Del Rey for a simple oil change. Well, that's done. I found this place via my neighbors, and got to say the very cryptic words, "The Twins sent me," when I called. I felt all mafia. Seriously, though, the twins did send me, and I'm glad they did. Edwin runs the place, and he's super-nice and patient, and this is coming from someone who forgets to check the air pressure in her tires. The service got started late because Edwin was stuck in traffic, but I had nowhere to be so it was no big deal. Plus, I got to stare down the pitbull chained next door. I know this would throw some folks, but for whatever reason, I just got a nice boost of adrenaline. Thanks, killer dog. Not that all pit bulls are killers. I've met some really sweet ones. Okay? Chill out. Anyhoo, so it's cash only, but less than what we used to pay on the westside (not surprisingly) and i like supporting a small business.
