Coming here for a few years now. My family likes the decorations; the tables, the chairs; music, smoothies and boba. Two issues that make me dread coming in: 1. Lids smell like garbage; not always but most of the time. 2. The most important of the two; their customer service lacks. It seems the ladies are so unhappy to be there and help you; no smiles; no thanks for your tip; eye contact lacks in so many ways. read more

Pengo has a few locations in OC but this one is my favorite, and not just because it's the closest one to me. It's located right off of the Avery exit on the 5 freeway across from Del Taco and Jack In The Box. The shop is spacious and cute with tables for hanging out and lots of natural light. If you like having variety, they have lots of drinks here from milk and fruit teas to matcha, coffee, shakes, slushies and more. I recently got their Jasmine Milk Tea with boba in a 32 oz. super size for only $4.99 because of a promotion they had. I got it less sweet which was just right for me and I could still taste the tea flavor. I haven't tried the food here but they serve snacks like popcorn chicken and croffles that look really good. Tried the ube matcha with boba and it was delicious, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The shop itself has a great setup with comfortable booths and even a few fun claw games with cute stuffed animals and boba plushies. Stopped by and tried two drinks and both were really good. The matcha was creamy and smooth, not overly sweet, and the boba had the perfect chew without being too soft or too firm. You can tell the matcha is well balanced and not powdery. I also tried their house specialty coffee with boba and it was bold and rich without being bitter. The boba worked surprisingly well with the coffee and added a nice texture. Both drinks felt thoughtfully made and not rushed. Overall a solid spot for both matcha and coffee lovers. Pengo is one of my favorite places to grab a sweet treat! The house milk tea is my absolute fave !!!!! And my husband is obsessed with the mangoniada. We stick to what we like but I'm sure everything else is just as yummy! I've been wanting to try their snacks, but I typically stroll in there pretty late and by that time they no longer sell food. Bummer! I love the ambiance of this place - it's spacious and comfy! We always sit in the big cozy chairs at the entrance while we sip and chat! They also have lots of tables and feee WiFi so you can go study or work. The employees are polite but could be a little more enthusiastic about their job since it's a happy place for customers. This is such a fun spot to grab some milk teas, smoothies, and slushes! They also offer snacks like Popcorn Chicken, Cheezy Crokffle (my fav), and Potato Corn Dogs! There's a variety of other drinks as well if you are leaning more towards hot drinks for the cold season. I shared some of these with my friends and we really loved the Crokffle, which they always sell out with - so so happy they had it when I visited! Came here once before about 2 years ago and never finished my yelp review. I only recall the place had good boba and was going to give it 5 stars. Last Friday I was here for my son to take a test over at saddleback college. I didn't know how close it was to this place. It was like 90 degrees out and I wanted us to grab a drink after so we went here. Boba is still deliciously soft and chewy. We got in before the Friday evening rush. You can order off a kiosk by the cashier to save time, and adjust your drink on sweetness and ice level, which is nice. Parking is dicey when it's busy but when it's not, it's pretty easy out front. We got the Ube Oreo brûlée, banana matcha oat and the chocolate coin dessert. We were surprised by how much we liked the drinks! The banana matcha was a perfect blend as I could taste both the banana and matcha flavor, while I enjoyed the strong ube flavor and consistency of the brûlée. I am happy to say that I was one of the 10 winners for Pengo's last Instagram contest (and have been lucky enough to win others in the past). I came to collect my prize and was really excited. The employee was less than enthusiastic...it would have been nice for her to say "congratulations" or made it a little more exciting. I expect they were busy and maybe it was the end of her shift or something. I have always loved Pengo, hence the 5 stars. They have multiple very inviting locations that are total hangout spots. This location has a print station, since it is close to the local community college. It was all decorated for Christmas, which is appreciated. Lots of cute decor throughout the entire store. It's a pretty spacious spot with indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot is a little tight, but there is another parking spot around the corner. I normally order ahead on their app, and they have a loyalty program as well. It did take a bit longer to get my drinks by ordering at the counter, but it probably also depends on the time of day. Last thing to mention is that I've always loved the Heavenly Bliss tea. It used to have large amounts of fruits, like big slices, and now the fruit is cut up very small. I'd love to see it go back to how it once was. Regardless though, I've been a customer several years and will continue to be. I kept trying over and over and going back and asking, are you sure that's the right code? It's not working. And they would just roll her eyes at me. So the third time I went back to them the girl with the braid said oh we have to push lock after the four digit number. I said oh. Thank you you didn't tell me that in the beginning.
