I would give Jeff 10 stars if I could! He is an absolute professional, extremely skilled at his trade, and the only person I'll be trusting with my two fireplaces going forward! We moved into a new house in July that had two fireplaces. The home inspection listed some issues but didn't specify if they were in working order. Asking the previous owners was fruitless, as they had no understanding of any house maintenance (they had not replaced the fridge water filter in the 3 years living there, didn't know why one of the skylights was covered, etc.). I suspected that neither worked, but didn't know for sure. I reached out to three different companies who all seemed trying to make a quick buck ($80-100 to even come out and look at them). Jeff was the only one who honestly seemed like he wanted to help us. He came and took a thorough look at both fireplaces and chimneys, then returned a quote for all the work. Neither of the fireplaces was in working order, and he explained all the options to us for what we could do. He even spent over an hour on the phone going through each line item and explaining what the reasoning was and why/when we should do it. He doesn't use cheap materials either - most of his materials are custom fabricated. We decided to clean and repair our back fireplace (gas only) and perform some of the chimney repair work on our front fireplace before winter, saving the full repair of that one (wood burning) for after the new year. Jeff was flexible on scheduling, always wore a mask, completed the repairs quickly, and never left even a spec of dust or dirt behind! He also referred us to a plumber who could install the key for our gas line, and he was excellent as well. I can't recommend Jeff highly enough if you are looking for quality work, affordable prices, and someone who will do things thoroughly and correctly the first time! Jeff nailed it. Bought a house with a fantastic floor to ceiling fireplace, with water damage and wood rot all around the top in the ceiling. Disclosures said to "put a bucket" under the leaks in heavy rain. Started talking to roofers, and some tried and failed (still needed a bucket), but one said it was the chimney not the roof. Jeff came by, inspected, and recommended that the mortar between bricks (eaten away over time by the elements and covered in moss, hint) had to be sanded down and redone. Jeff did that, replaced the chimney cap, and even sealed all around the interface between the chimney and roof. The heavy rains of Dec '21 came and went without a drop. Perfection. Needed to have a missing cap placed on our chimney. A bird had fallen down the chimney and refused to leave. Contacted Peninsula Chimney Service and spoke with Jeff. It's been well over ten years since I had Peninsula Chimney come clean my chimney. This past week with all of these crazy storms I had puddles of water within my fireplace. I asked Peninsula Chimney Service to come out and inspect my chimney. Jeff found time in his busy schedule to come out and do an inspection. About four years ago Jeff came by to install a wind directional (turning) chimney cap, and a steel adaptor to fit the existing flue opening on the roof. He did a fine job, and indicated at that time that this cap should not need regular lubing to keep it squeak-free. Just a few weeks ago it began squeaking during high wind, so we called him up on a Sunday. He showed up the next day and took the cap apart and lubed it, gratis. We also needed advice on improving the draft in the double fireplace , and he suggested propping the fire grate on bricks to increase airflow to the base of the fire. It worked like a charm.
