It offers a short five minute walk to the center, with the option of walking along the river. Our apartment (for four) was spacious and modern. Although it was hot outside, the presence of a fan and the thick walls made for a cool retreat. Beds were comfortable, and apartment was very clean. Note that the lift only goes to the third floor. They have Wi-Fi, but in our 4th floor apartment, we found it a bit spotty. The woman at the front desk (I believe her name was Stephanie) was lovely, and fluent in English. Definitely would stay at the Am Zwinger again.

During our 3 day stay: First, an extremely foul odor of sewage leaked from the pipes and into our room. Second, the air conditioning was non functioning. We asked for assistance and they "forgot" for two days. Third, we were told if we parked our vehicle ourselves it would only be 6 euro a day (instead it was 28 euro a day). Fourth, we paid for a queen bed, yet instead we had two beds pushed together with space in between. Fifth, was a lightbulb hanging from the bathroom ceiling which burnt and smelled when the light was on. We told them about this, and they said "we will get a technician out as soon as possible". One never came. A simple apology would have been in order, but not even one was given. They didn't seem to care, it appeared as if asking them about these issues was "bothersome" to them. We've been in Germany almost a month traveling across the country and have had ZERO issues with all of the other hotels we've used, except for this one. I cannot fathom how this is a 5 star hotel. I can only guess that they must have changed management because all of the other reviews were positive.

The hotel is large with very newly refurbished rooms, which we found spacious with a separated bathroom and restroom, a little unpersonal touch, but clean and organized. Internet comes for free, the breakfast is 13€. The location and very affordable room rates would consider us to call this a top location for the Dresden tourist. Minutes away from all sightseeing places.

First, Pension Hotel Hennes is right on the Elbe and has a fantastic view from the terrace and most of the rooms. The rooms are nicely appointed with comfortable beds and furniture, the baths are large nicely fitted. One room is equipped with a sauna. The hotel owner has gone to quite a lot of expense in building and furnishing a quaint hotel where you feel quite at home. Secondy. the breakfast was wonderful. In addition to the expected bread rolls, spreads, meet and cheeses, the hotel owner made our table a large order of scrambled eggs every morning. That in itself was a very nice touch. Breakfast can also be eaten outside on the terrace overlooking the Elbe on warm mornings. Thirdly, a case of beer stands next to the "visitor's fridge" and you can help yourself to a cool one and enjoy the evening, again, on the terrace. At check out you pay for what you have consumed during your stay. We would not hestiate to return to Pension Villa Hennes. The owner is knowlegable about the area and had tips and pointers about attractions we had not considered to see.
