TOTAL NIGHTMARE: Warning for Mt. Pleasant and surrounding Residents!…read more If you value your sanity, your money, and your hands, stay as far away from this place as humanly possible. I explicitly told the owner about a past salon horror story I went through, seeking a safe haven. She promised they could deliver a simple, short, square-round acrylic sparkly purple French ombré, and so I booked my appointment. IT WAS A TRAP!!!! Here is exactly how they ruined my day, my hands, and my confidence: * The Disrespectful Panic Call: Two hours before my appointment, they called demanding I come in immediately. Mind you live 45 minutes away and was actively getting ready for work. I had to rush out the door under immense stress just to accommodate their scheduling failure. * The Sketchy "Establishment": I pulled up to what looked like a run-down house with a trap-style, one-way-in, one-way-out driveway. I literally had to walk through a random blue door in the back of the building just to get inside. * The Assembly-Line Butchery: The first tech started on my nails and completely botched the foundation even after me asking repeatedly to fix them. Every single nail was a different, mismatched shape. Then a walk-in came in for a simple refill. Instead of finishing my service, they tossed me aside like garbage and moved me to a second tech. * Zero Accountability: I suffer from social anxiety and am entirely non-confrontational, but the work was so atrocious I had to speak up. I kept repeating myself, the second tech barely tried to fix the mismatched shapes. I got so frustrated with repeating myself we just moved on to the design... * The Biohazard "Design": The second tech airbrushed purple all over my nails and cuticles and finger tips, slapped chunky glitter over it, and called it a day. They didn't clean up the massive airbrush mess left all over my skin around my nails and on my finger tips. They also did not touch my cuticles even though one of my complaints was about my previous salon left my cuticles looking like crap, this tech didn't touch my cuticles with anything more than a splash of oil to cover up the dry, messy skin. * Embarrassed and Crying in the Parking Lot: I left the building and immediately burst into tears in my car. I took photos of the disaster right there in the parking lot and messaged them, stating how rushed, unwelcome, unwanted, and uncomfortable I felt. Their pathetic excuse? "Just wash your hands, the purple mess will wash away." I am a server. I have to wash my hands constantly for my job, and surprise--the purple mess didn't wash off. I had to frantically sprint to a retail store to buy heavy-duty cleaning supplies to scrub my own hands because I couldn't walk into work serving food looking like a pen had literally exploded all over my skin. Not a single nail was the same shape, and it looked absolutely nothing like the photo I requested. * Shady, Cowardly Business Practices: I demanded a full refund. The owner refused and tried to trap me by saying, "I put a $60 credit on your account for any service you would like." I flat out told her I do not want a credit, I want my money back, I don't trust a single soul in that building to touch me again, and I will never return. * The Paper Trail Ghosting: We texted back and forth, but she kept trying to call me. The moment I firmly told her I wanted to keep everything in writing via text messages, she completely stopped responding. She went dead silent because she knows she is wrong and didn't want a paper trail of her scam. THE ULTIMATE WARNING: This owner allegedly owns 2 to 3 other salons around the Mount Pleasant area. Do your homework, double-check who owns the salon you go to

I've been using Gilmer Nails Spa and Lashes for my Pedi and Nails for about 2 years (always had…read moreexcellent service) and didn't mind paying 59 cents to use my debit/credit card; then it went up to 79 cents which I paid. Now they are charging a 3% fee for using debit/credit card to cover bank service charges. I usually pay about $100 for the services, now I'm charged $3.00 to spend $100 in that store. I was in there today when I read the sign they posted about this charge. I usually tip on my card but today I didn't want to pay them a fee to give their workers a tip. I paid cash for the tips because I didn't want to short the workers. I worked for a bank 20 years and never was the fee that outrageous. I do know they charge a fee for not using their charge machines but it's usually a small percentage of the total debit/credit card charges. The services fees are right in-line with other salons and they don't charge a fee to use the card. The fees we pay for the service is suppose to cover the "cost of doing business". How do the others do it? Unfortunately, my bank doesn't have a location for me to get cash so my checks are sent directly to my account and I have to use debit/credit cards. Now your only problem is "you're not the only salon in Gilmer/Gladewater area, so you will lose mine and my daughter's business. Thanks for the past services, which I liked "most" of them.
