It's set back from the road but beside the road are poles w/ rainbow banners flying and a large sign, saying OPEN HEARTS OPEN MINDS OPEN DOORS It sends such a welcoming, inclusive message that it gladdens my heart whenever we pass. I have been in Maine for 5 years and visited numerous churches (I have a protestant background) for various lengths of time from months to years, and my family and I have been integrated and accepted at St. Euphemia the quickest, and most sincere of all. I learn so much. Coming into an Orthodox service can seem foreign, but stick around for a minute, and you will see something amazing. The community is mostly converts, so if your coming from another tradition, your experience will be easily related to. The church is quickly growing, and has a very healthy spread of young, middle aged, and older people. There are plenty of children, from toddlers to teenagers too. If you are interested in Orthodoxy, this is a gem in midcoast Maine. I travel 2 hours there and another 2 hours back every week, with a toddler, if that gives you any idea how worth it it is.
