Dang these reviews are piss poor. Allow me to bring a little holiday cheer to this location by spotlighting my wonderful experience with Carlos. My engine light came on again after I had it looked at by my mechanic. This is NOT shade against my mechanic - he warned me it would probably come back on but we need to follow the investigatory steps first. So at my brother's insistence (impatience?) I stopped to get the code read so I'd have a better idea why the light was on. I was hesitant bc women and car bros don't generally mix :sexism cough cough: but the prospect of being stopped on the highway with my son (a dog) gave me feminist courage to go in. Carlos came out, read my code, it was the evap code btw and reassured me that it's not the type of code that'll make my car cut off, it was safe to drive for a while, but would fail emissions which thankfully isn't for another 8 months. He told me to get it looked at sooner than later bc if something else goes wrong I wouldn't know since the light is already on. Good call. Carlos reiterated what my mechanic said about taking steps one by one and that the smoke test would probably be next to see where the leak is. He stressed there was no need to panic. We ended with a culturally relevant fist bump. I felt seen and respected. The next day i went back to my mechanic who kept the car, did the next steps, and then ordered my OEM parts for repair. This was a fantastic interaction. I know other reviewers haven't had positive experiences at this location and that's unfortunate. I think it's clutch (see what I did there) to know who to go to for what. Dealer will do warranty work. Mechanic will do my tires and other repairs. And Pep Boys will read my codes. There is a reason for the piss-poor reviews. Not only is the place now no longer a pep boys "auto" store, it's just TIRES ONLY, no products other than that. Came in for oil /low oil light. - The place is just horrible customer service. horrible !! Walked in and asked for oil - "We don't sell anything but tires, but go down three lights to auto zone" is what the man behind the counter in his cellphone was trying to say after having asked him to repeat if very slowly. Okay, so I do. I get my oil at Auto Zone as torrential rain and thunder start. I head back to pep boys to try and get temporary shelter pulling up to an open bay to ask if I could just pull in under shelter to put on in engine and turned away by some worker sitting on his butt, on his cellphone. Liability perhaps? Laws of decency prevail I think. Anyway- no concern for me, and I suspect anyone else who would have needed help in a storm. Don't go to Pep Boys at Promenade in Bridgewater. Pretty disgusted at what this franchise has become. Low quality hires getting paid for personal time on Twitter and who knows what else? Poor customer service. Rude service manager. Asked service manager to check my transmission fluid for my car. Told me that Pep Boys doesn't do that. Then told me to do it myself. Then told me to go to Aamco Transmissions to get my transmission fluid level checked. Last time I will bring any vehicle to Pep Boys. Stay away from Bridgewater location. Bought 4 tires and the guaranteed alignment. When I tried to make an appointment, their alignment machine was not working. This was the response for every location I called. My radiator cap broke causing an overheat condition on my spare car a convertible Cabrio so since non-rush went on Amazon and low and behold prices ranged from $30 to $1.94 same day pick up at Pep Boys, jumped in the car headed down and it was there waiting on the counter, I spend another $30 on some other impulse items so yea Pepboys is smart to get Amazon people in person, a win for all!!! This place is a bunch of Scam Artists. I took my vehicle there after it went from a hum to a growl sound in the back & said I thought it might be the rear passenger hub bearing. They specifically asked if it had been diagnosed, and I said "no, I definitely can't say for sure that's what it is". An hour later they called and told me the $ for the hub, and said they usually do both at once. They also tried to tell me that the rotors need to be replaced because of rust on the side. I said that for $800 I would just do the bad side if that's what they uncover, but to let me know if both are bad. A few hours later I get a call that the car is done. I pay, get in the car, drive it past a few parking spots and park it again. It sounded just as bad, if not worse, than when I arrived. It was immediately obvious that no one diagnosed the vehicle, much less test drove it afterwards, because you literally could not drive it more than 50 feet or above 15mph without it sounding like a monster was eating the undercarriage. I went back in & said that no one diagnosed the car, it was just as bad, & they charged me for an unnecessary part. I was told that I would have to leave it overnight because it was close to closing. The next day I get a call that is was actually the rear differential that went bad & they don't have the ability to fix it. I arrived to get the car again & was like, are you refunding me? The guy at the counter read the paperwork & said he was going to get a manager. I then heard him speaking to the manager, who literally directed him to lie & send me packing. The guy looked So incredibly uncomfortable when he returned to the counter and tried to tell me that the hub also needed to be replaced, despite knowing that was absolute BS. I drove it straight home, where it stayed for a week or so while I shared my daughters car, until I had the opportunity to take it to Nissan while they were open. Nissan agrees it's the rear differential & says "you also have a problem with your passenger rear wheel hub". I genuinely got mad at Nissan, thinking here's another mechanic trying to rip me off. I get the rear differential replaced, which took a while because I needed to gather the funds, but now notice it's shaking a bit. I think maybe it really is the brakes, but I move to the rear passenger side and discover that they not only removed a perfectly good part due to their total neglect, they replaced it with a defective one & didn't bother to confirm functionality. With the caliper and rotor off, it should spin freely yet it would barely turn with 2 of us. They either replaced a perfectly good part with a faulty one, or they lied & didn't actually replace it. Either way, there is No explanation for a hub bearing that was replaced 9 weeks ago and has been driven on Maybe 200 miles, to be completely non functional. Now I'm fully pi$$ed. I was going to let the initial rip off go, until finding they actually Damaged my car & in a way that's damaging my transmission. I reach out and explain the situation and am told too bad, there's no manager here, so I reach out to corporate. I thought, if they tell me to bring it in and do the right thing, I'll leave it alone, but if not, I'll make sure BBB, Consumer Affairs, and every possible customer is aware of their illegal & neglectful practices...and that's exactly the route they chose. Instead of correcting the problem they KNOW they caused, they want documentation from Nissan about them noticing the bad hub. Don't get me wrong, I can go get a copy of the paperwork, but the fact that they're just ignoring the fact that they failed to diagnose, failed to test drive or confirm completion or functionality of a repair, AND they installed a both unnecessary and faulty part, is infuriating. My Transmission was replaced ago under warranty by Nissan last year, and if it goes again, and that warranty is voided due to Pep Boys Full Neglect, I will dedicate my life to their accountability. Took my car to get 4 tires installed. Took 3.5 hours even with an appointment. Checked the tires next day. All 4 tires have different air pressure. The rears are at 50+psi each. 3 valve caps are missing. 1 valve is damaged. The valve threads is crushed and broken. No way to easily fill air in the future. 3 lug bolts were damaged from over-torquing. They must have used air gun set at 200LB. Could care less if they warp your brake rotors, damage the bolts/threads. They let you leave their shop without addressing the damages or even telling you. Never take your car there for any kind of service. Go to a reputable shop that has pride in their work and care about customers. read more

Terrible place to take your car. If I could give a 0 I would. Left truck there for an alignment appt at 2pm and called several times to find out if truck was ready. One call Barry said that the truck was in just waiting for the alignment machine. We left at 715pm to pick the truck up and got there and the truck never moved from its spot! Barry was rude and unapologetic! We wasted our time and gas and our truck never got done. I want out of my 3-yr alignment contract. I have serious doubts about how seriously this shop considers customer safety. It was made obvious to me by the explanation about the PSI in my tires and they had to reprogram everything that they don't have a stinking clue what they're doing and don't follow all the way through.I am an older woman with a hearing impairmentI need to have a safe car. Was a reliable customer of theirs for many years until I determined that their technicians didn't seem to know how to maintenance my car and/or the parts are not quality. I had numerous brake pads/calipers/rotors replaced on my car and on last visit they said they "weren't sure" what was causing my problems. Brought it for a second opinion from a reliable mechanic (albeit more expensive) and they found the braking system all messed up. Plus the emergency brake was non functioning. The latter should have been found during my regular service visits to Pep boys. There was no excuse for leaving my car like this as they were the only vendor I went to and I put my trust in them. The icing on the cake is they have a "rating" email and a complaint system. The rating system is cherry picked to remove bad reviews. Probably some VPs way of keeping their job by hiding problems. They don't call you back if you complain. I guess that's just their way of biding their time that you will go away. "We'll call you back in 72 hours" must equal we'll never call you back. read more

This place is terrible! Initially I only went there to replace my tires, they had a deal for buy 3 (three) get the 4th (forth) free. When I got there at 9:15am it took them 45 minutes to get my truck into the bay. I understand that part of the wait, what I don't understand is them taking 1hour to "check my vehicle" they convinced me to do an oil change early and do an alignment since I was getting new tires. I agreed to those services and waited ANOTHER 4 (four) hours for my truck. Within the last 30mins of my truck being completed, they gave me an update since I patiently waited in their waiting area the whole time, then had informed me that 1 (one) of the lug nuts had given them trouble to get off which is what took most of the time... At that time I was informed to purchase a new lug nut bolt and lug stud to be replaced. When they showed me my truck when they finally completed everything at 2:33pm I had discovered myself that they destroyed my rim trying to remove the lug nut. They didn't even tell me about the damage I had to find it myself. I demand to speak to the manager who was MIA, not even on the premises. I asked when he would return and was told he would be back in 10 minutes. After 25 minutes of waiting I asked where the manager was and at that time I was informed that he wasn't available no one knew when he would be returning to the property. At this time I started to get irritated and had held my temper until being denied an opportunity to speak with a manager. I was told it was "just a scratch" and it could be "buffed out and painted". I have alloy rims that have a small gloss coat over them, the damage in the picture doesn't completely show the inner barrel damage. I was suggested to call their commonly used rim shop. They refused to call and get a quote and made me do it myself. I called the other business and sent photos of the damage, at that point I was informed that they won't be able to fix it since the deep gouging in the barrel of the rim and that it would be better to replace the whole rim. I had the guy on speaker where the associate heard and understood, he was also on the phone with the assistant store manager who also heard the conversation. The final result of the whole situation is that I ended up having to take my rim to a shop and hope for it to be fixed, but the shop said due to the deep gouging and how much sanding down they would need to do, plus they would need to even out each side to make it even, it damages the integrity and safety of the rim and I would more than likely need to replace the rim completely. Pep boys wouldn't give me my key until I paid their outrageous bill that was over $1200.00!!!! Then when I looked at the receipt for pep boys, THEY DIDNT EVEN GIVE ME THE DEAL I ORIGINALLY WENT FOR! I called corporate and nothing has happened. This business said they have a core value of safety and let me leave with one less lug nut letting the truck rattle since then. My son bought a used truck from a dealer. He picked it up on a Friday afternoon. As he pulled it out onto the highway a loud chirp could be heard from the back wheels. We didn't hear this on the test drive and the Car Fax showed a brake service 5000 miles ago. He notified the dealer who couldn't look at it on Saturday since they don't have their mechanics working. Really? He couldn't bring himself to show up at work on Sunday with his just bought truck sounding like a piece of junk. So he took it to Pep Boys in Bridgewater. They were super busy doing work that the dealers are not getting, since they are closed on the day working people are not driving their cars. So he waited about 45 minutes and shopped in their store. When they finished he was told that clips in the old school drum brakes were out of place and they set them and adjusted brakes on all 4 wheels. Cost - None. They fit him in on the busiest day and charged nothing for the service. They just made friends for life. That is how you create good will. Good customer service. Girlfriend had to get breaks down and a oil change. They gave us a call letting us know there was an issue with the pads that she needed them as well with a price right off the bat before they just did the work. Which I respect . They didn't just do the brakes because we said we need them done. If you don't know about cars. Sometimes you can resurface. So just replacing the pads would not of been the best course. Car was there maybe 2 hours tops which was to be expected for both services and they got us out very quickly. read more

My wife went in to have a nail puncture in the tread of the tire repaired. Was told she needed 4 new tires on her 2021 Audi, it has been driven lightly for 6 months. Before I found out, the tires were installed at a cost of nearly $1,000. Beware these are bad people and they WILL try to sell you on things you don't need. I spoke to the customer service manager who was very rude and wouldn't let me get a word in. They are a disgrace for taking advantage of people like this. read more

Two weeks ago I purchased a car battery. There was a total lack of customer service. The man got the battery of the shelf , brought it to the counter, took my payment and that was it. I am a 64 YO female, who struggled with picking up the battery. No offer was made to help place it in my car. Today I went back with the old battery to get my "core" deposit back. The man at the counter got visibly annoyed when I didn't have my credit card with me. Sorry but how was I supposed to know they don't give cash out for refunds! I used this shop for a tire installation. Their price was really good, but the quality was not great. The tires feel great and seem to have been installed correctly, but the job was sloppy. The lubricant from mounting was all over my brand new tires, they did not bother to clean them. Also, the tires were not filled to the correct pressure and the pressure was inconsistent from left side to right side. Very little attention to detail. read more

Ridiculous place. I made an appt for an alignment and then even called to see when a good time to come in would be so I wouldn't be waiting around for hours. They said 12:30 and I went by 12:25. I sat around waiting until 2:40 when they FINALLY took my car in and then 3 minutes later tell me they can't do an alignment cuz my car is too low. My car is a c300 and it is low. I did not lower the car and they have done multiple alignments before under different management. All they had to do was use a ramp to raise the car. Any place that can't figure that out I would not recommend. Never going again. read more

August 14.. 97 degrees outside.. My truck broke down and was not starting. My dog was with me and on this particular day it was 97 degrees outside and i didn't want our dog getting hurt from the heat and brought him inside just until we had the parts we need to do the repair .. now keep in mind my dog is a small jack rustle very mild tempered, not one of those barking crazy dogs and he was lying down in the shopping cart, i was yelled at by who I assume was the manager to remove the dog from the premises immediately . I have been to the Bridgewater Pep Boys many times for car service, tires, brakes, oil changes, etc. and have always been satisfied. I recently went there for a parking sensor repair and was very impressed at how thorough the Master mechanic, Chris F, was in troubleshooting the problem and locating the parts needed. Katie and everyone at the front desk was very helpful, efficient and friendly. It all took 2 days and was a very reasonable price. I really feel like they went above and beyond. Today I went to this specific Pep Boys location. My car desperately needed new tires and an oil and a couple of other things. I arrived 20 minutes prior to my scheduled online appointment. I had my military go bag in my back car seat and wanted to make sure it stayed with me. I went inside and I started to talk to the service writer. He was a tall man, very well rounded. His mask wasn't really a mask it was a neck gator that was black and had a skull on it. He greeted me and than we proceed with our dialogue. That went a little bit something like this: Him: So are you here only to get tires changed? Me: Yea sure. Him: All four tires? Me: Yes, all four tires. Him: Do you know what kind of tires you want? Me: Yea, I took a screen shot of it online. (I show it to him...) Him: Do you drive a lot? Me: Yes. I drive a lot. Him: Are you in the military? Me: Yes, I am in the military. Him: Do you have your ID? Me: No. I lost my wallet back in December and never got my Military ID replaced. Him: Mmm.... You know it's not good to lie about things like that? Me: Yea I know?.... Why would you say that? Him: I mean people lie about things like that. Me: (Staring him down really hard. Thinking way to much into this.) Me: What did you mean by that? You know that's called stolen valor, right? Are you saying that I'm lying? Him: No... I didn't mean anything by it. Me: Really? Is it because I'm female? Or is it because I'm lying? Or is it both? I ordered tires bout a week before my scheduled appointment, and they waited until they had already taken the old tires off my rims and I had been there for about 2 hours waiting, to tell me that they didn't have the Michelin tires that I ordered. I was there for over an hour before they even took my car in, despite the fact that I had an appointment. They put on a pair of really cheap tires to "get me through" till my tires arrived in a day or 2 (2.5 hours waiting just to get the wrong tires and have to come back). 2 days later they got my tires in and when I went to get them installed, I was there another 2+ hours (yup, 4.5+ hours hours just to get tires installed). After finally putting the proper tires on, I got in my truck and noticed that one of the tires was at 28psi (my truck should be at 40psi) so I went back in to tell the manager who was very nonchalant about it and made the excuse that my truck's sensor just didn't update...I asked him to check it and guess what?? It was 28psi...the other tires all read 35 psi despite the fact that they should have been filled to 40psi so I had to stop at a station on my way home and top those off, too. $1400 worth of new tires and this is the carelessness and lack of attention to detail they showed. I will NEVER go back there for even an air freshener. STAY AWAY if you value your vehicle and your safety! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I have chrome rims and there was some kind of lubricant or something all over my rims when I got my truck back...Really? Awful!! read more

The rear brakes on my husband's car were squeaking and grinding terribly. We had had both sets of brakes done by pep boys within the year, so I took it back to them. Told us rear brakes/rotors were bad and that they would replace. No charge for the parts because under warranty, but charged me to change the brake differential fluid and labor. Less that 6 weeks later the same problems were happening. Had to take somewhere else and found the rear break shim was loose (Read: not put on properly), and grinding on the rotors. Had to get it fixed again by the other place. This is not the first time they've messed up and not caught their error upon taking the car back to them. Won't go back again, it's not worth wasting my time taking the car multiple time to have something fixed correctly, plus trying to figure out their complicated invoices and the supposed "discounts". read more

Had a slow leak in my tire so I pulled in here with my toddler. I told the staff I can leave my car & walk home or stay and wait if its a short amount of time, whatever worked for them. They told me to hang, it will be around 1 hour. After 2+ Hours & a screaming toddler they told me it will be almost another 1+ hour before the car is looked at. I asked why they couldn't have called and let me know to leave; no reply. I asked to speak to a manager & they would not come out of the back to speak with me. Didn't get any service but the customer service was just horrible. I recently had issues with my 2017 car where it all of a sudden turned off the engine and the battery light came on. After re-starting the engine everything seemed to be back to normal but still wanted to get my car checked just in case. Came in to this place to see what could be done to diagnose the problem and even before I finished explaining what happened, the customer service lady started giving me price quotes for different services they do which I could have already looked up online anyway. My car AC just when out and just blowing warm air. I was concern how much it would cost to get it repair and it can vary from $125 to over $1,000 if the compressor needs to be replaced. Luckily I got an email from Pep Boys for a free AC check in bold letters "Is your A/C blowing Hot? Let the Pros Take a closer - Schedule A Free A/C check". So I scheduled an appointment and drove to Pep Boys and only to be told by the Service Advisor 'Jose' that the free AC check they do is to see if the AC is blowing warm air but otherwise, there is a cost to do so. Unless the car owner are really dumb and not realize the AC is blowing warm air, why do you need a Pro to tell you so? This is very deceptive to get you into their shop. I won't trust Pep Boys with my car. BTW, I just another email from Pep Boys that I missed the appointment and whether I want to reschedule.......... I don't think so Disappointed read more
