Early for once, we arrived before they were open and went for a short drive in the countryside where this lovely restaurant is nestled. Returning at the correct time, the gates were open and we parked and took the short walkway to the entrance. This is a family affair and you are made to feel like family from the time you enter. We were seated in their lovely dining room and then spent the next several hours enjoying a multi-course tasting menu. Some of the dishes of note--the parmesan crisps, the two terrines, the foie gras, the two pastas, the frog legs, roast duck, and then some lovely desserts. A large tray of mignardises was brought so we each could have one of each type. Service was exceptional and as I noted in the beginning, we were treated as if we were dining with family we knew for years. Before leaving, I went to get a photo of the chef and he insisted that the photo include the four of us along with his two brothers. For me, this was our best meal in Italy and it ranked with two others as being evenings to remember!

From the outside, you can't even tell there's a restaurant and probably most tourists would never discover this place considering it's located in the outskirt of Parma. Although the restaurant itself is a humble trattoria, I noticed there were some expensive cars like Porsche, Mercedez, and Audi parked outside which I took as a good sign. This is a very small hotel (villa) and restaurant in the middle of the beautiful Italian countryside is over the top great. The owner and his wife (the chef) have this a spectacular place. Breakfast and dinner were fabulous, we never had lunch there due to daily road trips. The rooms are super comfortable and totally up to date! Every morning included cappuccinos and eggs/bacon made to order. The several events/meals we had there were amazing... super fresh, made to order, and delicious! They have a fabulous wine list/cellar, some of the best wines in Italy, and very generous with pours! Highly recommend La Vecchia Quercia for a night, a meal, a vacation!
