I recently went to Pepe's Restaurant with a large party and tried the fish tacos. The service was really good like honestly the staff was very attentive and nice the whole time so I do want to give them credit for that. But the food just wasn't it for me. The fish tacos were pretty bland and the fish itself had a really strong taste that I didn't like at all. I also asked for light coleslaw and they gave me a lot of it so it kind of overpowered everything in the taco. I also got a sweet tea and it just didn't taste good to me like it tasted kind of off so I barely drank it. I didn't say anything at the time because I was with a big group and I wasn't paying so I just let it be but overall I was kind of disappointed with the food. Unfortunately, we had a very uncomfortable experience here today. My family and I were dining in, and we found a hair wrapped inside a cheese dish on my dad's plate. We calmly informed our waiter. Instead of apologizing or immediately offering a replacement, the waiter picked up the hair, examined it, and told us it was a woman's hair, then said only men work in the kitchen, implying that it must have come from someone at our table. This was extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unnecessary--especially since all of our hair was tied up. Accidents happen, and we understand that. What matters is how staff handle them. Blaming customers and making assumptions rather than taking responsibility made the situation far worse and made us feel uncomfortable. A simple apology and solution would have gone a long way. This was my first time at Pepe's, and I had a pretty solid experience. I stopped by after a particularly draining day at work. They provided good service and the food was also pretty delish. They were close to their closing time when I came in, so I was grateful they still seated me. They took my order and got it out from the kitchen fairly quickly. I didn't wait long. They were also a bit busy with quite a bit of families as their customer base! I had the carnitas (this is a dish I order at any Mexican restaurant I go to if it's on the menu! LOL). The portion was pretty good, and it also was very flavorful. The only thing I wish they did tho was have a little bit of sautéed chunky onions with the pork! It would absolutely taste so good!!!!! Anyways, it was really good regardless! You do get complimentary chips and salsa while waiting for your order, so that's also a really nice bonus. My first time here, came with friend who been there before and loved it. It was a Thursday night I believe and they had a band outside playing. I loved that, we decided to sit outside, the weather was nice as well. The band was really good, and we really enjoyed the nice music. They start with nachos, salsa and cheese dip which was good. I got the el guapo based of reviews and I am glad I did, I recommend it. I gave 4 stars because they got my order wrong but I love this place, one of the best Mexican restaurants in this area for sure. Fast service and you get a lot of food as well. I asked for some spicy sauce with my food and they brought 3 different ones. We were impressed how good and spicy they were. Went on a Wednesday to here due to their "live music" Wednesdays. As we were listening to the Texas-style music, our server was quick on his feet and had a very positive attitude. When I ordered and soon after got my fajitas, I took a combined chunk of chicken, steak, onions, and shredded lettuce and placed that into one of the tortillas. After biting in, I was treated with an aroma of tastes unlike most of the restaurants I've been to. The food was mediocre and the Chorizo isn't grandma's recipe anymore. The decor is plyboard walls and cheap chairs. The Chesterfield isn't even on the menu anymore. As soon as I placed my order online, I received a text that said "when you arrive text us your spot number." The parking lot was so organized and labeled. I pulled up, texted them, and they immediately brought my food and my margarita. The burrito is....... massive. Huge. Comes in a huge container, and is stuffed and also covered with cheese. It came with chips and salsa too. I was amazed. Literally the best take out experience I had thus far. The margarita was so fresh, you can taste all the ingredients. The sweet white salsa was a bit much, I did enjoy the more traditional red with a little kick. Friends got the fish tacos, the fajita with beef/shrimp, everything came out super quick, don't worry about turn around time if you're hungry. The lunch menu does go till 4 pm which is nice but I don't think it's that much of a discount depending on what you get . The chips and salsa was fresh and delicious. I loved that you get white sauce without asking and the salsa was sooo good. We ordered the chori polo which came out very fast . The beans and rice were my favorite. I almost order a whole other side since I finished it before I even ate my chicken. The beans are smooth and have a great texture that doesn't make it gummy. If you like spicy stuff they do make a in house green hot sauce and even hotter red one . I personally like mixing the two together but it's no joke. I like that they have a punch card for the lunches if you get 9 lunches you get one free . They also do sell candy which is random . The wait staff are 5/5 - super nice and attentive and forever giving you more free chips with salsa and some white aioli sauce that's finger licking good. Wife and I grabbed a seat outside on the patio as we still feel more comfortable outside in the current climate away from large crowds. When we arrived, they had a band playing. The decor was really cute too. We were greeted immediately and sat at a table to the side. It was close to 8 pm and the place was still pretty packed. Looking through the menu, and it's pretty standard fare, but I wanted something healthy so I ordered a chicken breast that came with onions, rice and beans. I requested a side of pico and jalapeños to put on top of the chicken. It was a great combo. My husband ordered the El Guapo burrito. It was ginormous. We both had Texas margaritas.
