Was super excited to try this new place. Surprised at how small the store was - with very limited number of seats/tables - and so we had to wait outside in line for 20 minutes. Staff comes outside to ask how many is in our party - we say 3. She looks inside and says, "we have two (high top tables) - did you want to split your group?" Ummm... we're a party of 3. So one person sits and eats alone while the other two sit together? We said no, all of us want to sit together - and was told it would be 5-10 min (it was actually about 20 minutes) When we finally got in to sit, we were sent to a kiosk to purchase our oder. The kiosk wasn't working (screen was frozen, could not order) so we stood there not being able to order. We had to flag a worker and she took our order at the register. It's conveniently situated across from Panda Express and next to Starbucks, though the small sign might go unnoticed. Parking is ample, but be prepared to share it with other food establishments and businesses. They had a touch-screen ordering system, which was straightforward. After paying, we picked up a number buzzer and chose our seating. Place had a good amount of seating and it was good that they also provided high chairs. The beef & shrimp combo and beef & salmon combo were both incredibly delicious. The flavors were so satisfying and flavorful that we were pleasantly surprised by their quality. Once your plate arrives, it's extremely hot, so immediately mix your ingredients on the hot black skillet and savor the experience. We devoured the entire plate, especially since it was our first meal of the day. To complement our main course, we ordered sweet potato fries and chicken. My biggest beef was the price you pay versus the quantity of food you receive. Each vegetable and/or topping that you add adds a other $2+ to the price--so things add up quickly. Food was brought out quickly with the exception of the karaage curry. The karaage was a little overcooked. The curry sauce was good flavor, but lacked depth. You stand it line and wait for the server to tell you which is your table and you head straight to the self-serve kiosk. Once you order, you pay and sit at your table with a number. They quickly bring you your food. I've been to other Pepper Lunches and this one is small. However, they are fast and you get to eat shortly after. Currently, there is no take out available. Avoid parties of more than 4 if you can. The table layout accommodates 2-4 people and they have to push tables together to seat 5. The food is on the expensive side. It comes to you on a hot skillet and you essentially cook the food yourself. If you're not one to like this style of restaurant, this might not be the place for you. Still give it a try. The food quality is great. It's definitely not 5 star angus wagyu, but the experience and taste is great. You can customize each entree with a lot of add ons, including egg, mushrooms, garlic, cheese, etc. The staff is super friendly. Yup and you order using the provided kiosk is easy you start with what base of rice or pasta with what type of protein which I choose beef and pasta and that's what comes with it all the pics you see are add one and that's where it can add up depending on what you'd like as I chose to add mushrooms and cheese and at $2.29 each I stopped there. You then pay and it won't take long for your order to arrive which was quite impressive and the sizzle itself was much more grand as it did go on for quite some time before it settles giving you enough time to capture that perfect pic but what I do love about it is the crust it gives as it sits in the hot skillet. You order your own food at the kiosk. They do not take cash. I love how the bowls came out sizzling with the ingredients inside. You can mix it and watch it cook. Either the manager or owner stopped by and gave us a tip about how to cook the food. He told us that there is butter inside of the rice, to push down and flatten that first. Then, mix in the proteins and sauce. I flattened out the rice and just let it brown for a bit, while I was mixing the proteins. When it had a bit of that crispy rice crust I mixed in the egg. Then, I added the sauces. They have two sauces: sweet brown and garlic soy. They were both good. I just mixed the two. The garlic soy was way more on the salty side. I'm not sure if the quality or vibe changed but this location seems more like a fast food vibe. You can order on screens, and friendly staff serve you. The food came out very quickly! The quality was so so. The beef was more delicious than the shrimp in our opinion. Our toddler loved the sizzling rice and corn combo and trying all the sauces. There are two kiosks, which helps keep things moving. This was my first time dining here, but one of my friends attended the grand opening and showed us how the ordering process works. You place your order at the kiosk by choosing your protein (beef, chicken, etc.), deciding if you want it jumbo or not, adding toppings, selecting your drink, entering your phone number, name, and paying. After that, you take a table number and input it before sitting down. Once seated, we were given water, with refills throughout the meal. Within a few minutes, our sizzling hot plates arrived at the table. We all ordered the Beef Pepper Rice, and it came out hot, steaming, and sizzling. We mixed the thinly sliced beef into the rice and added the two sauces available at the table--a sweet sauce and a shoyu garlic sauce. Both added great flavor, and we especially loved how the rice became crispy as it continued to cook on the hot plate. Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, refilled our water regularly, checked in on us, cleared our plates promptly, and even took several photos for our group, which we really appreciated. It's crazy (but also not surprising) to see that there's still a decent line forming outside during the holidays. For a Friday night, I would say 15-20 min wait? The space is kinda small so if you have any big parties, you'll probably be separated. Ordering is pretty simple: Use the kiosk, get your table buzzer, and the food will be brought out to you! We got the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice and the Creamy Shrimp Pasta - both were delicious! For the jumbo, there was more beef which was great but the rice ratio was a tad off so definitely a personal preference and you can add the sauces on the side to "zhuzh it up" as well. We were pleasantly surprised with the creamy pasta and I definitely would love to get it again or try out their Aglio Olio. The noodles were cooked well and the cream sauce was a decent alfredo sauce (coming from someone who doesn't care for alfredo much) The portion is on the smaller size so you might still feel hungry afterwards. As for the food, 3 of us split 2 and it was filling but could've done one each. We are vegetarian so we appreciated the tofu option. My add-on cheese was mozzarella which they put it on the side was pretty little for an additional $2.00. Anyways, the cheese mixed with the rice was good. The beef to rice ratio was uneven. There was a lot of rice compared to the beef. The portion compared to Asia Pepper Lunch was noticeably less. The two sauces were good. It wasn't watered down like the ones in Las Vegas. I like the sweet brown sauce more than the garlic soy. It was savory and adds a lot of flavor to the rice. Onion rings: I also ordered a side of onion rings. It doesn't look like the one from the kiosk photo. The breading was soggy and flimsy. It was also pretty greasy. The portion was quite little too since we only got 4 pieces in our basket. Overall, the beef pepper rice was pretty good. I did enjoy it. The seasoning was there and the sauces made it even more tasty. Since I got the BOGO, I took the second plate home. There wasn't a sauce container to take home the sauce, so I had to just pour it over the rice. Since this is their grand opening day, there were some kinks. I did wanted to try the cream pasta but it was all sold out on the first day? The tables were very packed together so it was difficult to get in and out. My friends and I decided to come here for lunch and we had a wonderful experience! The restaurant is located in Moanalua Shopping Center so there is ample free parking. There's no actual waitlist so you just line up in line behind the stanchion that is outside of the storefront and one of the employees will come out to direct you to your table when it is ready. Once inside, you can order at one of the two touchscreen kiosks. The staff bring out your ordered items to your table and I want to say that the service was very good! We were checked on quite often (but not an annoying amount) and the restaurant is small enough to where if you need something, you could definitely just flag somebody down. The size of the restaurant is probably my one and only complaint. It was absolutely packed in there and the tables are closer than I would've liked them to be. I'm not a big person but I was struggling a bit to get in and out of the booth. The food was delicious! I ordered the jumbo kimchi beef pepper rice with a bunch of add-ons and most of the add-ons came out on a separate sizzling plate. My two other friends ordered a jumbo beef pepper rice and a regular beef pepper rice. We all enjoyed our dishes but did collectively agree that the regular beef pepper rices need some type of sauce. On the table there were two sauces available to put on your plate if you wanted extra flavor. If you like kimchi, I would highly recommend ordering the kimchi beef pepper rice as the kimchi added a lot more flavor to it.
