The Last Few Flags of Thousands!
    Ronald M.

September 21st is the date of the 9/11 memorial flag removal. Nearly 3,000 flags, placed annually at Pepperdine University to honor all the unfortunate victims on that dreadful day. Both American and International are represented; a solemn sight to behold. We volunteered for the removal, and it was quite a task. And other than the initial help from the Pepperdine Men's Basketball Team, at least until they had to return back to campus, average age of volunteers? 50 and over. And not as many of us as you might expect. But the minimal crew managed to complete our task; dismantling and wrapping, in just over 2 hours. We were scheduled for an estimated 3. One beautiful part of the day was the lack of any talk of Left or Right Wing Politics. Only a gathering of Americans of multiple backgrounds, coming together and unified in this sacred task.

Probably the most beautiful college campus in the world. And make no mistake, Pepperdine's strength as an institution lives up to the beauty of its idyllic location. For the undergraduate program, they offer world-class education in a liberal-arts style, with small class sizes that allow professors to form lasting relationships with students. At Pepperdine you aren't just watching the professor give a lecture, most of the time you are part of the learning process. Everyone knows who you are, and what you are doing, personally. Students learn from some really brilliant people and their lives improve because of it. Plus, Pepperdine has a set of values which is pretty clear as a Christian university. They follow these values but don't use them to exclude or attack others. There are many students of different beliefs at Pepperdine. The tolerant atmosphere allows for open discussion of issues that doesn't exist elsewhere. I had the good fortune to attend this university as an undergraduate, and it improved my life for the better personally and professionally. With its new president, the university is looking to expand its brand of academic inquiry and community further. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in the coming years, as there is much promise.

On Our Way To The Beach We Saw This Beautiful 911 Rememberance Flag Display at Pepperdine University in Malibu. For every life that was lost on 911 there is a Flag displayed on the lawn and it is something to behold. I took a few pictures of the flags but it didn't capture the rest of the display that continued on. We all will never forget the tragic Events that happened on 911 or the lives that were lost. This is a beautiful way to honor them and I am so glad that my daughter and I were able to see this.

Visited 7/26/2017 Came for a campus tour. Many came to visit the campus, so we had to break into two groups. Really nice waiting area while we waited for our tour guide. They offered water, coffee, and tea which was a nice touch. Nice looking campus. It's mostly a non-commuter school. GPA average about 3.6 Need to attend weekly services at Christ of the Church as part of the curriculum. Beautiful church. They hold weddings here. Stain glass is BEAUTIFUL!! Didn't see much of the dorms, but what I did see, I wasn't impressed. Much better looking dorms at Cal State Northridge. Interesting that they have about five campuses in other parts of the world (China, London to name a few) to study abroad at. Love the small class sizes. Beautiful Olympic size pools and tennis courts. Did you know that they filmed Battle of the Network Stars here? Cool!! They were expanding/doing construction on the campus while we were there. Impressive view of the ocean. The drive took about an hour from our neck of the woods.

Pepperdine university is not only world class but deserves every achieved rank in the top 50 schools in the United States. NSO (New student orientation) 2017 was a memorable experience for parents and students. I am proud of my state school education and loyal to my crimson and gold but this university is without peer. I can hardly wait to come back to the campus again to see my daughter learn and grow. #GoWaves

Talk about a dreamy campus! Although it was cloudy the day that I attended, there is usually a beautiful overlook of the ocean. The campus is well kept with beautiful flowers and trees. There baseball stadium is always fun to visit as well. Unfortunately, food options are not consistently available on campus, which led to me eating sour gummies from the campus bookstore. The campus bookstore was great and had wonderful customer service.

Talk about a beautiful campus! It is truly beautiful and with a view of our precious Pacific Coast . The Cafeteria is grand with a fire place to hang out at. I love the view I can't stop loving it. The campus is clean and the grasses are green all around. The only con I have is it can get very gusty with winds that can rock your car back and forth.

This review is for the "Wave Cafe" dining commons on the Pepperdine campus. And as an eating establishment open to the public, why not? Pluses - On the beautiful Pepperdine campus overlooking Malibu and the Pacific Ocean. Get a sit by the windows or on the patio for incredible evening views - Salad bar with a nice variety of vegetables - fresh made soups and breads - ethnic specialties like Hot Pot, Terriyaki, and Italian dishes - Pizza bar - $6.99 dinners Minuses - may get crowded, and the number of people serving is limited - noises, but not too unexpectedly so Overall - Fun to hang out with the students and get nice meal at a good price. May be a nice change of pace from some of the expensive Malibu restaurants!

WHAT IS IT? Ranked #54 as one of the top universities in the nation. With a Law school that is ranked #1 in dispute. It is a private university that is built on a Christian foundation. WHERE: the University is situated in a secluded place in the Malibu Hills. ATMOSPHERE:I read somewhere prior to coming to Pepperdine that school was ranked numerous times as the most beautiful campus in the nation, most recently in 2004 and 2007. When I went there, they were not Kidding! The entire school could be considered a 5 star resort! It feels like where ever you go, you get either a view of the pacific ocean or the Malibu Hills. What I do is wake up in the morning and drive up to the Graduate school of Education and Psychology. The Education building is on the to of the hill; one of the highest buildings on campus. There I would sit on the patio that has a round table with white umbrellas. I would look out and see the view of the school below and the endless beauty of the blue, pacific ocean. PARKING: Seems like parking is free in most areas on campus. OVERALL: The school is super clean! There are countless janitors and gardeners working day and night to make sure the campus is spotless. Awesome school! . DID YOU KNOW? A benefactor approached USC in the 1960s if they wanted to move to Malibu for free, but they turned it down because they wanted to help the community. Pepperdine was also situated in South Central near USC and they were approached after USC declined. Pepperdine gladly took the spot for $1 I believe. However, the school needed money to build buildings so they sold a piece of property on the lower right side of the school for housing which helped them raise funds to build the school.

We had a venue change during our planning and she supported those steps with kindness and efficiency. Our day was beyond perfect because of her. After that, it goes downhill - but that is precisely when it matters most. She didn't really help me throughout the planning process and wasn't proactive in asking me what I needed and what holes needed to be filled the months leading up to the wedding. Her package says it's month of coordination (or maybe she even refers to it as partial planning, which it definitely is not) but it's truly just day of. Her assistant was slow and she and Kim couldn't find stuff on the day of even though I had labeled all of the items and boxes clearly. She does the bare minimum and for what she charges, it is simply not worth it. If I hadn't been so organized and on top of it, I know my wedding wouldn't have gone well. *The month before our wedding, she acted super erratic on the day of our venue logistics meeting/walkthrough/tasting, talking very fast and way too much about random things totally unrelated to our wedding. It was like she was there to have fun and eat/drink as a guest rather than to be helping us take care of important business. We were embarrassed and uncomfortable by her behavior but I told my husband not to rock the boat because we had already signed a contract with her and I didn't want it to affect our wedding day. I kept having to redirect her to stay on task. She also kept talking about other couples she was working with and how she was annoyed with them changing their wedding plans by moving up their wedding date. I don't know why our wedding planner would be talking about that during our meeting. I had to do the same thing of keeping her on task during our actual rehearsal, because we needed to stay on schedule to get to our rehearsal dinner venue on time. She just kept chatting like she had all the time in the world. This seems like a pattern with her. Plain and simple, I should not have to follow up with and manage someone who has been hired to help me do that. *A week or so before our wedding I emailed her with some updates/questions and it took a week to respond. I understand she is probably busy but I didn't feel like she prioritized our wedding in general. If a key component of your work is communicating and liaising with your clients, especially when there are only days remaining before their big day, you should respond quicker than three business days, which is what she says her response time is. That's too long IMO especially for time sensitive matters. *Kim never obtained/provided the room or ceremony lawn layout and asked at the actual rehearsal for the wedding how I wanted the tables in the ballrooms arranged. It is unbelievable that she only thought to ask this important question less than one day before the wedding. This is pretty standard for what planners provide - in fact they often provide renderings/AutoCAD floorplans. She does neither. Again, something I had to do myself. *Our dog was in the ceremony. I told her who was responsible for picking him up and taking him to our place after the ceremony, and provided her name and number. Kim didn't pick up her call. When she told Kim she called, Kim said "oh that was you? I don't pick up numbers from different area codes." Okay, but I Iiterally provided this person's first and last name and her number beforehand to avoid this situation. Other vendors working our wedding said they tried to call her multiple times that day and she didn't pick up. That is super disappointing to hear. She also didn't pick up my calls! *She has a few rentals but I feel the pricing is misleading. She only told me after I agreed to rent chargers from her that there was a "$10 cleaning fee." It's not about the $10. It's about transparently including that info in her materials. I felt like she pulled a bait and switch over a few things she did related to the petty cash amount (that she requires). Overall I felt like she nickel and dimes clients to do things she should include as part of her services. The services she provides for the price are super bare bones. *She also did/said things that I felt were unprofessional like she made references multiple times to us being Jewish/referencing a chuppah (which we did not have) despite knowing we weren't Jewish. One time, okay, you can chalk it up to a mistake or some sort of confusion. But multiple times? I don't know what she meant by this--it made me feel like she didn't care and/or didn't even know how to tell her couples apart. She also made multiple spelling errors/typos in her master timeline document that I had to correct. The wedding is now over but the final timeline still has some spelling errors. These are a few examples of things that she did that I felt shows she did not care about us, our wedding, and how she just did the bare minimum for a very high price (not worth it!)

While doing inner child work on my own during the pandemic- I could feel that there was embodied trauma that I wasn't able to move through from my own childhood and birth. Her use of Reiki and Somatic work allowed me to access and communicate with my inner child in ways that I didn't think were possible. My work with her has been a beautiful healing process, and I was even able to communicate and receive messages from my unborn daughter in our sessions- which was such a blessing, and offered me a newfound sense of trust in my process with her. As I near the end of my pregnancy, I feel so much more settled and at ease knowing that I've done this deep work for both myself and for my daughter. She is often singing the lullabies she learns, reciting the stories, and always so very excited to return for more. We live in Las Flores Canyon near the campus and we have watched in amazement and awe as this magical epicenter of love and support has enlivened our local community and been a connecting link in bringing together families with like minded awareness. The teachers and directors are some of the most lovely and heart centered people on the planet. They see our daughter for who she is, and have been an enormous help in guiding her spirit into the most beautiful expression of her instincts and interests. I am very particular about clean food and it's such a relief knowing that they only serve organic food and snacks! They take care to be very respectful of dietary restrictions and the special needs of each unique child- it's such a huge blessing and absolute requirement for me. The teachers have each shared such sacred wisdom with me about each developmental stage, and I continue to learn so much from them. Anytime I have questions they always take the time to help guide me toward more understanding and grace with my child. It really means the world to me to have this beautiful support in this conscious community. One of our deepest desires and highlights of parenthood is providing the absolute best for our children to enable them to flourish and grow in the most harmonious and conscious way possible. During the first parent meeting this year we all sat in a circle and expressed how incredibly grateful we each are that this sacred space still exists in this world, and we all wished that we would have had the opportunity to attend such a delightful school when we were young. It's truly and honor and great privilege to have found this treasure nestled under the ancient oaks and so close to home in so many ways.
