This is a cute little ice cream parlor, and invest restaurant located on the beach. The staff are friendly however they do not offer samples of their ice cream. I wish they did because I probably would've gotten more. I will end up in the blackberry. It was a good flavor choice. If you're trying to decide it was sweet, but just the right amount of fruit. The place is clean and they have indoor outdoor seating. I hope you enjoy!

Really more of a 2.5, but I am rounding up to a 3 because of the history behind this restaurant - it's been here since my in-laws started dating, so at least over 30 years. It's also a convenient location for relatively inexpensive food if you're hanging around Alki Beach since it's right across the street. LOGISTICS Street parking only and you could see the beach from here. You pay first at the counter to place your order and they will call you up. They also have a counter for ice cream, but they require you to pay first before selecting flavors and have no option for sampling, which is unfortunate. Service is terse. I heard they switched owners since then, so despite the homey atmosphere of the place itself with its wooden decor and old photos of West Seattle, you didn't get a warm feeling from the people working. The lady at the counter looked really annoyed when we asked for cups of water after already paying for our meals (if it bothers them so much, just have a water dispenser out). Note - they have a sign saying "No Public Restrooms" but when we went, there was a restroom you could use. I think they mean for non-paying customers; we were already dining in. FOOD Shrimp Burger: Avoid this - I never saw photos on Yelp or anyone mention this, but if you're thinking of the shrimp burger, go for something else. It's laughable - the shrimp burger is merely 3 pieces of tempura shrimp with lettuce, tarter sauce, and tomato on a bun. The 3 pieces of tempura shrimp were a little small and tasted frozen... like the ones you air fry from Costco. I've had shrimp burgers overseas where it was like a shrimp katsu patty on the bun, but this was far from it. Double Cheese Burger: Hard to go wrong with a cheese burger... and it was a decent double cheese burger cooked to order. Fries: Not bad, but not great either. They tasted a little stale even though they were crispy. Ketchup definitely helped here. They get points for being generous on the serving of fries though. Onion Rings: Let me start by saying it is NOT worth the $1 upgrade to the onion rings. They're so small and less filling than the fries. They are panko breaded and quite thin for onion rings, which would be OK if there were more of them. OVERALL Food overall was inexpensive for a local joint in the area - the value was there depending on what you ordered (avoid the onion rings and shrimp burger). They also sold ice cream and fried seafood entrees, so a good place to go near the beach with a variety of options. It's cool also this place is still open decades later that my in-laws are able to feel a sense of nostalgia going here. However, with the owners changing it seems the friendly local service is a thing of the past.

It is what it is - burgers, fries, and ice cream close to the beach. Exactly what you want? Yes. Exactly what you'd expect? Also yes. Right along the boardwalk, Pepperdock is in a prime location for a quick bite and nothing more. Apart from it being seemingly ran by teenagers, turnaround time and service is quick, the flavors are simple, and vibes are beachy. Be sure to upgrade your fries to onion rings.

The guy working today deserves a round of applause the way he took orders, attended customers, manned the fryers and grill before serving ice cream all in a smooth fashion, super friendly and professional cleaning the store all by himself The food was great and service was well over 10/10 above and beyond And just look at the view

Nostalgic. Cheeseburger flame broiled with lettuce, tomatoes onion and Mayo fries come with not too bad. The interior hasn't changed alot from when I came here as a kid in the 70s very cool.

I had a great experience. The food tasted great. They were a bit short staffed but handled it well and I applaud them. I would recommend this choice to anyone. It was also relatively cheap compared to the other restaurants on the strip. This burger and fries was 7.99$ + tax. It was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. As a fan of their regular greek yogurt (and frozen desserts in general), I knew I had to give them a try! At 3:30pm, the line was already out the door and about 50 people long (by 5:30pm, the line was closer to 70 people long). It took my group about 20 minutes to get through the line. The inside is relatively small and tight. There is no indoor seating (which is a bummer if you come on a cold or rainy day) but there are some outdoor tables with umbrellas lined along the sidewalk shared among businesses. Hellenika makes their yogurt every 20 minutes and so you know it's fresh as they pour the mixture into the rotating churn machines in front of you. They have eight rotating flavors on a seasonal basis and you can order a kid's size (i.e. "Walkaround") for $6.95, medium for $9.15, large for $13.35, and flight (the equivalent of 8 kid's scoops) for $26.25 plus tax. If you want a split scoop, they charge $0.85. My partner and I split a FLIGHT so that we could try all eight flavors. The flavors they currently have (as of May 2026) are LONDON FOG, LEMON CURD, UBE COCONUT, BLACK SESAME WITH MOCHI, DUTCH CHOCOLATE, APPLE PIE USA, AUSTRALIA TIM TAM SLAM, and BISCOFF. Although the kid's size cups look small, they pack the scoops and so the flight was honestly more than we had anticipated and could've easily fed 4 people instead of 2 (it's no wonder they gave us seven spoons). - LONDON FOG - this flavor was decent and tasted more like lemon lavender than an actual london fog. My second favorite of the flight. - LEMON CURD - this was the best flavor of the bunch as the tart curd went well with the tart yogurt/gelato. Reminded me of the Ellenos lemon curd yogurt cups! - UBE COCONUT - I was a little perplexed by this flavor. While the coconut flavor was strong, the tartness from the gelato overpowered the sweetness of the ube. I did appreciate the coconut flakes mixed in though. - BLACK SESAME WITH MOCHI - As a black sesame and mochi fan, I was very much looking forward to this flavor after seeing it featured multiple times in my Instagram feed. However, this flavor unfortunately was the bottom of the list for me. The mochi had a hard texture and similar to the ube, the tartness just overpowered any sweetness. - DUTCH CHOCOLATE - the chocolate shown through in this one, but again, had a slight sour aftertaste from the yogurt which I didn't like. I thought this one would be sweeter, given that it's chocolate, but was not so. - APPLE PIE USA - this flavor worked because the apples were slightly tart to begin with. The cinnamon also mellowed out the tartness of the yogurt and so this one was maybe my third favorite. - AUSTRALIA TIM TAM SLAM - I didn't know what a Tim Tam was, but apparently it's a chocolate covered wafer. This one actually tasted less like chocolate, and more like coffee/mocha as there were definitely some bitter notes mixed in. It tasted like overnight tiramisu oats without the sweetener. - BISCOFF - this one was probably the sweetest of the bunch and like the Apple Pie, had good cinnamon flavor that hid the tartness. I'm not a huge Biscoff fan to begin with, but I liked the crunch of the Biscoff cookies mixed in. While the service (once you get to the front of the line) was great and the scoop sizes were huge, I was unfortunately left underwhelmed by the gelato overall. I had high expectations, but my foodie friend and I agreed that it just missed the mark for us. While the texture was nice and creamy, I think I actually prefer my treats a little sweeter and with less tang (and that's coming from someone who used to like Red Mango's tart frozen yogurt and who orders 30% sweetness on drinks). With that said, I think I'll be sticking to Shugs, Molly Moons, or Salt & Straw instead next time I'm at Pikes Place.

As you can see from my review years ago, when my hubs and I came back from a trip to Italy, we wanted to find a gelato shop that had the same quality as the shops in Rome. Not all the gelato and sorbetto we had in Italy was good, some flavors tasted artificial, and during our time there, we learned how to tell the good from the meh. When we returned to Seattle, we were happy to find great-Italy-like gelato at the Bottega Italiana in Green Lake. After that shop closed (still sad about that!) we started going to their other shop by Pike Place Market. For years, this place featured delicious, fresh, quality gelato and sorbetto that tasted like the flavors they were labeled with--so strawberry tasted like eating real strawberries and so on. But on a recent visit, I got a small cup with strawberry and raspberry-dragon fruit and the first flavor I got when I tasted it was sugar. As I ate more of it, it started to remind me of Jolly Rancher candies, not totally, but enough to turn me off. They use just enough fruit to make you believe it's the flavor that it's labeled with, but the amount of sugar and other things added makes their fruit flavors as meh as the not-so-good shops we learned to avoid in Rome. Alas, I think my favorite gelato shop in Seattle has fallen prey to profit over quality. Why, Bottega Italiana, why??? It makes me and my hubs very sad. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the service was friendly and efficient, and my hubs's dairy-based gelato flavors were all right--not great but all right. Over the years, we've tried all the other gelato shops in Seattle and none of them measure up either. I guess it's time we take another trip to Italy.
