It's now been 6 days and the vomit is still there, smelling awful every time it rains or gets hot/humid. Which it does being it is July. And they threw up in areas that make it impossible to access me and my neighbors apartment without stepping/jumping over the effected areas. They also promised me upon moving in that my rent would not get hiked up every year, which it does. Pool was 2+ weeks late opening this year and there is a problem with the dumpsters getting over full and trash blowing around when it gets windy. Which let's face it, happens a lot in Indiana. There is also a weird puddle of dumpster water that never goes away even though it is located near the bottom of grade and a drain. If things change I am willing to revise my review.

The Property Manager knows of security issues, doesn't inform residents and the property is borderline negligent in securing the safety of residents in an area seeing a lot of growth and which is right next to the interstate. The maintenance staff and groundskeeper are great, but the current office continually harrassed me after writing a negative review on Google. Dummy accounts providing information about my time there, and private emails to them, began publishing this information online. They responded with the below comment to a negative review - I don't sound great here (some of what they say is true, most not) - but I'm not the one trying to rent you an apartment.

My family and I have been living here going on three years, and we have truly enjoyed living here at Deerfield commons. And we all agree that this is the best place to live in Lafayette, Indiana. We enjoy Free Parking, Washer & Dryer Hookups, Outside Storage, a Balcony with a locking sliding glass doors & may I also mention that we have a great view of the well landscaped lawn just outside of our apartment. The apartments are great, very spacious and maintenance so quick with assistance in case of an emergency. The laundry is also cheap. I never had any problems, and when I had, Ashley was so very nice and kind to help me. The rent is also not high as compared to other places around Purdue. The bus stops are close and Payless and Walmart are walkable. The biggest support is your landlord, and unlike granite who are always ready to charge you a bomb for little things, who never return your security deposit, Ashley was always considerate and did more than i could expect. Ok listen. The Bluffs is overall a good place to live. I have lived here for two years and I don't…read morereally want to leave my little apartment. I truly have fallen in love with my space. There are definitely pros and cons to keep in mind however. I will start with the pros: Location: It is a GREAT place if you are a student because it is a 7 min drive to campus and it is literally 2 mins away from downtown. It's also only 8 minutes away from the mall! So the location is absolutely perfect no matter where you want to go. Staff: Everyone is so friendly. Andrew is extremely reasonable and willing to work with you. Jasmine is new but super nice and helpful. Jacob and Wayne from maintenance are really nice and care about doing the job right. Everyone is great. Storage: The kitchen has SO MUCH ROOM to store stuff. Half of my cabinets are only half full because I can't possibly buy enough to keep them fully stocked. The closet in the hall is also humongous. Scenery: The walking trail might be my favorite part. There is a mini forest behind the apartments. If your lucky, you'll get a trail view window and get to see beautiful nature every time you look out. But even if you don't get the trail view, the trail is always there if you want to get in touch with your nature side. Windows: The windows are huge and let in a lot of natural light. Now for the cons: Size: It is a bit small. It's is definitely perfect for my first apartment by myself, but I think I have quickly outgrown it. The kitchen and bathroom are a nice size, but the bedroom is a bit cramped. My living room feels a bit small too, but it might be because it's also my art studio. Design: A lot is outdated. If you plan on moving in, my biggest tip to you is to plan on replacing lighting if you can. It makes a HELL of a difference. The light fixtures in the other apartments is outdated and makes the place seem dim and a bit dirty. New bright lights will seriously help. I cannot stress that enough. The cabinets and refrigerator are also out of date. The bathroom is just downright ugly. Especially the brown tub. AC Unit: Ok so this one is big. They are having an apartment wide issue with the AC units not regulating humidity right (i believe). There is a shelf built into the wall under the window and above the AC. In a lot of units (including mine), this led to a mold problem under that shelf since it was trapping all the moisture. They took out my shelf and replaced the drywall and are currently looking for a solution to keep that problem from happening again, but just know that might be something you want to investigate if you do decide to move in. I would bring a dehumidifier with you.

Overpriced and no soundproofing, which I believe is why the vacancy is so high…read more The published rent is not what you pay, there are required amenities added onto it, such as a package locker that I've never used but cannot opt out of. The main issue I've had with Westridge Flats is the lack of soundproofing. My first set of neighbors were college kids who behaved like normal college kids, but I'm an adult who works normal business hours and cannot stay awake all night long while they can and do. So I had to explain that I can't sleep while they are up late and they were cool about it and kept the noise level down until they moved out at the end of their lease. Now I have a new set of neighbors that I had to tell last night that I can't sleep because I can hear them. They were just TALKING but I could hear them. So, just be aware that the buildings here have ZERO soundproofing and you will pay about $100 more than the published rate for amenities that you may never use.

There were no marks, scuffs nor anything on the walls upon leaving. The normal "wear and tear" was part of living. Everything upon leaving was immaculate, yet the kept the total deposit, and the list they gave me upon leaving (within the state guidelines) was quite an overstep with reality and the true cost of maintenance. The one thing that was a problem is NO elevators and the toilet would not flush. If they were trying to save money on water, flushing 4 times was not a cost saver. The rent goes up EVERY year so be aware. It is close to the university which is nice, but just be aware of the "issues" we had.
