A figure appeared from within this cubicle and approached the front of the shop where I was standing. Dressed in a suit with tightly cropped hair and striking eyes this was my introduction to Shaf Khan, the man behind Shifa Herbs. Shaf has a few different means of analysis, the most immediate of which is the examination of a patients iris and Shaf was happy to provide this service and offer an initial diagnosis before the mention of any money. Shaf seems like an absolute gent and I must say there is something about him which gives one a sense that he is a genuine character.

Due to my serious health problems and not finding answers to some phobias I had contacted Deborah Morris in the beginning of September and arranged an appointment to go and see her at the end of September. I paid the required £50 advanced deposit and made all the needed arrangements (regarding transportation and childcare) which was not easy due to my personal circumstances. Right before the day of my much-awaited appointment I received a text message from Deborah Morris at after 7pm saying she is cancelling our session. She alleged that she is being hospitalized but reassured me she will be in touch to rearrange our appointment. About a week later when I still haven't heard back from them, I respectfully messaged her asking for a refund of the advanced deposit assuring her that when we arrange a new appointment I will again pay in advance. She plain refused in a condescending tone saying she will contact me when she is ready to return to work and if I still require a refund then, it will be 'given due consideration as it was her cancellation'. After that I have not received any form of communication from Birmingham Holistic Centre for 3 more weeks when I texted again and asked about my options for a future appointment still or perhaps a refund. Deborah Morris wrote back saying that she will give me a refund when she 'can arrange it'. I wished her well and left it at that. Much later that night, at nearly 10pm someone started calling and calling until I finally answered my phone. It was Deborah Morris' husband, Stuart Morris in an unqualified, angry tone accusing me with 'harassing her wife with my phone calls while she was in hospital'. I must clarify that I have not called her once, merely dared to text after all the radio silence and non-communication after all that time. Any respectable and proper business would have kept contact with their (future) clients, especially after taking their money in the form of a so-called advanced deposit. I don't think it is too much to ask after nearly a month going by without as much as acknowledging that there is a responsibility at their end to be fulfilled. But what would Birmingham Holistic Centre know about how to run a respectable business, we must realise. I was told by Stuart Morris in a threatening manner that I am not welcome in Birmingham Holistic Centre and not to contact them ever again. I had to laugh. I almost felt sorry for the man. He still thought I would set foot and spend money in their disreputable venture. As the saying goes, scam me once, shame on you... In the end I finally received my money back but not without having to listen to an earful from mannerless Stuart Morris, after which he proceeded to slam the phone down while I was still responding to his awful tirade. It can happen to anyone that they are hospitalized, then discharged, then must be readmitted, however if this hinders any undertakings/business matters, it should be mandatory to inform clients, even if you can't give a definite time frame. It ought to be mandatory to offer the option of refund of advances paid. If the management is personally involved in the matter, a distinction must be made between private life and official affairs. If Deborah Morris is really in critical condition, I wish her well, naturally. However, I have my own serious problems too, and even though I didn't expect sympathy, I have anticipated fair treatment - in vain. I would recommend anyone that seeks holistic healing or guidance to give a wide berth to this place. I cannot fathom how people that have no manners and consideration at all toward their clientele, run any place, let alone a holistic healing centre.

Martin…read morearrived late and complained that I was not able to offer him a car parking space although there is local street parking and a nearby car park (which i offered to pay for) which simply requires an extra three-five minutes walk. Martin changed his mind about treating my son and decided the he did not want to come back as the journey was too far (even though he knew this when i booked the appointment). Home visits should thus not be promised if they can't be honoured. Very, very disappointed.

I've yet to find a massage/grooming place that gives you the truly royal experience of being utterly pampered. There's pampering, but there's definitely an artform of performing a facial that is more than just applying products in an order; the whole thing should be a ceremony rather than a service. Maybe I've been to too many health spas and this place is below my usual budget... but they could do more here to make you feel like a king (or queen!). That's not to say you should avoid this place, you should definitely give them a go -- but if it isn't your first time, you will end up comparing it to your previous experiences. This place do a lot of treatments other than massage/facial/etc and do treatments for IBS, migraines, and so on, although they are quick to disclaim medical efficacy on their enrollment forms.

Until very recently (about 1 year ago) this was the doctor's surgery I had been registered at since…read moreI was born! That's well over 30 years that Dr Gonsalves has been looking after me. Obviously I would recommend him as I'm still alive. The only reason I changed was so that I could be registered at the same place as my wife and son. No other reason for the switch after all this time. Aside from the GP services, which you probably wouldn't use unless you lived very locally, this practise is also a centre where you can get immunisations and injections for overseas travel. On two occasions in the last 5 years I've needed shots to go to various places. Being quite useless at organising such things I had left it late (too late, according to a well-known High Street chemist, wrongly, as it turned out) and on both occasions the surgery were able to get me booked in and sorted out with the relevant drugs. So, even if you don't live in B44 it is worth bearing in mind for travel purposes.
