Today another charge hits my account for (42.31). I have made several attempts to contact the owner with no response. Needles to say I want be back. I always go here for the nightlife. It does get pretty cramped at night, so come early if you want to sit. They play hip hop/rnb music which is right up my ally. The drinks are pretty reasonable and I've never had any issues with the service. It's a nice place to have a drink, listen to music, and dance a little. Next time I will definitely try the food. The only "complaint" I have is that I wish the space was larger due to the amount of visitors on the weekends. read more

Place is rubbish. Was walking the strip and came across this place, curious i tried asking the door men a question. One of the doormen in a baseball hat with very female energy (can tell he was raised by a single mom) sees me in my gucci slides and out of envy or jealousy snickers at his other doorman, motioning at my slides. As soon as i walk up to them he was quick to tell me "we don't allow slides". Taken aback, cos i wondered what made this dummy think i wanted to come into your shit club. The other doorman Jeff tried his best at being professional, which i truly appreciated. I asked my questions and later returned to check out the spot. As i returned the doorman starts again to berate me, calling me the N word claiming i have an attitude. an attitude, cos I wasn't tolerating disrespect, from a lowlife bouncer? Dude claims I was taking his disrespect personally. My brain took a quick nosedive at the garbage this lil boy uttered. I walked in, only after Jeff told him to chill and in less than 2 mins walked out. I saw all I needed to see. This place is trash/garbage/rubbish. For someone who worked as doorman at clubs in Europe, Los Angeles, and NYC/LI we don't treat paying customers like this anywhere. I guess the only time you treat your customers this way is when they are black like you in your fancy strip mall TX bars. What a joke of place. read more

If you are easily impressed by smoke in your drink, this may just be the place for you. Biggest complaint; fruit flies. They were everywhere. Poor service....worst fries ever. I arrived and sat on patio around 3:30 on Sunday. A few people at the bar but not crowded. I told the hostess (who was also the waitress) that I was going to sit on the patio. After waiting 5-10 minutes and tired of waiting, I went inside and asked for a beer and a water. When it came I ordered the beef sliders per her recommendation. The sliders were decent albeit pricey ($14 for 3 small sliders.) They came with potato string french fries which were dripping with grease and limp/soggy/nasty. After never being checked on and having to walk in to get a water refill, I also asked for the bill. The two girls were at the far end of the bar playing on their phone and acted upset I interrupted them. When the bill was brought to me, I told the waitress the sliders were ok (as I was still eating them) and pointed out how nasty the fries were. She acknowledged they were bad but never offered to remake or anything. I was on my phone before I realized she took my plate and left the bill. I still had one slider left! Came here on Friday for a work happy hour and it seemed they were short staffed. Our waitress was a hard commodity to come by. After waiting 20 min, she arrived to take my order. I mentioned I had checked in to receive the complimentary fries and she quickly replied that the restaurant no longer honors this checkin. I pointed out that it still remained on yelp. I ordered my drink and she then disappeared to see if they would honor it. She returned minutes later with my fries and someone at the table ordered the Pineapple Express (a more complicated drink to make than mine). She returned with the Pineapple Express but no strawberry fields. Several minutes later, she returned with my drink. After 30 min or so, I ordered the Pineapple Express. That drink came quicker. When it was time to leave, we were left without a waitress to get our checks. We had to flag down another server to get her to come back to the table. There is outdoor and indoor seating. There is also tv's at the bar to watch any of the games. There wasn't a hostess at the front but the bartender was able to help us. The atmosphere is great here the music playing was great and it was at a perfect volume level. I could hear the person across from me. The food selection isn't to large but the whiskey meltdown was really good. I got the singeria, cotton candy martini, and pear &berry drinks. They were strong and tasted great. Menu - Typical bar foods, but they do have interesting items, such as Chicken and Waffle Skewers. What to order: Order the skewers, regular or sweet potato fries, and if you make it to their brunch, their croque Madam. What to NOT order: The cookie sandwich. You cannot cut the cookie. It is hard as a rock. Drinks: As mentioned above, the place is known for their use of liquid nitrogen in their drinks. However, they have ran out of liquid nitrogen the past couple times that I have been there. Drink prices are high, so do not come here to pregame first. Fair warning. read more

Big disclaimer: Clearly cocktails are the wheelhouse of this restaurant, but this review only covers my (very tasty) lunch, and a takeout lunch at that. I'll say that it looks very nice inside and has a great looking bar and quaint patio, but all I did was grab and dash with my lunch. With that in mind, I had been eyeing the shrimp and grits spoonbread for a while as a potential lunch candidate, and today I made it happen, along with the Brussels sprouts side. The sprouts were packed in a typical translucent plastic "tub" (and it was a pretty generous serving) and the main dish was in a styrofoam clamshell, all in a non-branded plastic bag, The sprouts were very good, They were halved and well roasted, and were a bit on the large side but not too huge. The menu stated that they featured honey sriracha, mint and crushed cashews, and indeed, all were in evidence. The sriracha was nicely done but not overly so, adding a nice sweet and heat. The cashews lent a nutty flavor and texture, whereas the sprouts themselves were firm, yet very chewable. They tasted fantastic, one of the best examples of this dish that I've tried (and I've tried a lot, and consider myself a bit of a snob regarding them). Diving in to the shrimp and grits, wow. What bold flavors! The shrimp were well grilled and spiced, and had a good dose of feta cheese. The spoonbread was in strips, was well browned and had a slightly sweet flavor and great texture. All of this was sitting in a portion of sauce that was kind of like an extra saucy elote (Mexican street corn) on steroids, adding cilantro and a not-insignificant amount of chile for heat. The spoonbread tasted fantastic as it was dipped into the sauce, as did the shrimp. As others have mentioned, the portions aren't huge, but this was perfect for a meal for this (fairly) light eater, along with maybe a third of the sprouts. I'd encourage Pepper Smash to come with a different to-go plating for the shrimp and grits. It worked OK, but I'll be completely honest and, at the risk of oversharing, admit that I ended up literally holding up the sheet of heavy foil that lined the clamshell, and licked it clean of the fantastic sweet corn sauce. It was that good, seriously. Bottom line: On this day, this meal, was fantastic and well deserves all five stars. read more

I came here for happy hour on a weeknight and our group was one of the only ones in the place. The service was good as they did not seem overwhelmed by our group. It was good that we were one of the only ones as it felt kind of private. The atmosphere is dark and the place is not that big. There were "drink girls" there promoting Wild Turkey and also handing out free drinks. We ordered a few appetizers and it was on par with other bar food in the area. I was pretty excited to try this place when I first saw the sign in at the Shops. I love idea of a cocktail kitchen. I really liked the feel and look of this restaurant when I walked in. It was a Monday night so we had our pick of seats. We chose the bar. The bartender and others behind the bar were all really attentive. I started with a Mint, Mango, Basil Mojito - - it was pretty good, very refreshing and not sweet at all. My friend started with the Watermelon lemon-lime infused smoked margarita. She also enjoyed it. The drinks are just different and offer interesting ingredients. Maybe someday I will be bold and try the more exotic ones :) We then shared several small plates; Serrano Ham Croquettes, Ceviche Tostatas, Truffle Mac & Cheese and the Prosciutto Flatbread. My favorite of the bunch was the ceviche - light, flavorful and fresh. I enjoyed all the food, but nothing knocked my socks off. And its no joke when they say "small plates." Our second round of drinks included the Asian Pear Mojito and the Smoking Dr. Pepper. I loved the Pear Mojito, I think probably one of my favorite drinks ever.. not sweet and just super yummy. Now the Smoking Dr. Pepper is a different story... they literally smoke the bourbon with wood chips. The drink tasted very "campfirey"...my friend only drank half - it was a bit much. Interesting concept, but too weird. Overall, I will return to this place. I was a little disappointed that they were not able to offer any frozen drinks or ones that included liquid nitrogen. I was really surprised when they told me they couldn't make those..I mean, you've only been open for 2 weeks - wouldn't you have everything on the menu available?! For the food and drink prices you would think the place would look decent but it's always a hot mess. I recently went on a Friday during happy hour and water was coming down from the ceiling and it's wet everywhere and no one said anything everyone was just walking around as if it's normal. I had the old fashion which was good $5 during happy hour and one of the Smokey drinks which was $7, I also had the ahi tuna taco, small size for $6 but delicious. Really enjoyed this place. We went at night with some friends and I had an amazing time. The location is in a beautiful part of Plano next to a lake and other shops very upscale. We went in and immediately the DJ was playing great music. What Really stood out to me was the fact that the DJ played a lot of different music not just one Type. Can you play from old-school hip-hop to new hip-hop to Reggaeton and some Dance hits. You couldn't help but start dancing. This place did have a happy hour and the drinks were well made. The crab cake was super dry, and would bet it's just a microwaved patty that was thrown on top of the mushroom... there was no cream cheese or chives like the menu said. We asked for remoulade for the crab cake...15 minutes later the waiter came by and said they were "still mixing it" I could have walked to a restaurant next door and gotten remoulade sauce before they ever brought that out. When we looked at the kitchen staff... three guys were back there just talking and hanging out. The steak was absolutely awful. It said it was supposed to be stuffed with crab... but nope! Just a dry crab patty tossed to the side. Y'all we couldn't even cut the steak. My husband asked for ranch to dip his steak in because it was so bad. The drinks were ok. Took forever to get our check. We should have gone to Dels Grille it would have been the same amount for the bill and a whole hell of a lot better. These five stars are specifically for our waitress, Erin! My friend I came in during the late part of happy hour. Though it took a few minutes for her to come greet it, she was a blast from then! Can't elope cooler- Great drink if you want something more sweeter. Cantaloupe is the main flavor and it was very refreshing. Delilah- The description didn't sound that good to me but Erin recommended it. I was surprised because it tasted like a pink lemonade. Refreshing yet tart. Food: Flatbreads are only $8 during happy hour from M-F 3-6 PM. We shared the spicy lamb flatbread. I honestly did not like it all. The flavor was very strange for me. The lamb was greasy and the tomato jam was a weird combination. The curry fries were so delicious! Indian spiced fries with tikka masala sauce and sriracha ketchup. First visit here and it was a banger. Strolling along in the Parks and saw this cool bar that has an outside patio and said why not! Went inside and I knew it was about to be on!!! I have heard good things regarding this place and finally got to experience it for myself for a friends birthday. Twelve of us jammed into a high-top table, and got to ordering from the drink menu right away. Not only do they have a large selection, but the drinks are delicious (and they should be for the price). I ordered one (can't remember the name...it obviously did its job) that had a cucumber in it and had it served on the rocks. It was light, even in flavor and simple, which something I love. About three of them later, I was feeling no pain. :) For the meal, I split with a friend and ordered refreshing take on a Greek sampling of olives, chicken, with some Indian infusion of basmati rice and veggies. The meal was big enough to share and was very tasty. The only kicker to the restaurant, and perhaps why I have knocked it down a star, is the service. Though our waiter was great and offered many suggestions based on my questions, the general service was off. Some of us received our food too early (should have gone to another table), the birthday girl was the last to receive her meal by 20 minutes and we weren't sure what was going on half the time with staff other than our waiter. Beautiful Sunday, decided to take a stroll down Bishop. This is my first time at Pepper Smash and I am very impressed by their drink specials! Happy hour is 2-6pm everyday featuring $3 wells, $3 beers, $6 wine, and $8 flat breads....not too snappy for the Shops. I started with the bartender's Sunday Funday special, Amaretto Ciroc and the Truffle Smack N' Cheese. It was amazing! There is just something about truffle oil....yummmmmm My friend got the Barbecue Pulled Pork Flat Bread. It was also incredible! It had roasted pineapple and arugula on top. Soooo good! The musician was not my taste, but to each his own.....I didn't let him kill my vibe. And the Craigslist hookup going on at the bar was so incredibly awkward. I needed a quick lunch and every place was crowded except this place. There was one person at the bar. When I walked in, his burger was being served. I was the only other person in the place. I ordered hummus because I thought it would be quick since I was the only order. Nope. I waited almost 15 minutes for hummus. I mentioned I was the only order. I would chalk it up to them wanting things to be perfect, but that went out the window with the food and water residue on the silverware and the bartender putting his fingers in the top of my straw as he put it in the drink then proceeds to handle prep while he drinks out of his cup. After the reviews I was skeptical but my friend and I decided to stop in Thursday for cocktails and we were not disappointed. It's a weird Texas private club with a weird Texas liquor license so be prepared to offer a scan of your drivers license. Friend decided to indulge in the nitro smoking drink and it was awesome (I tried it)! While I did something a little more subdued. My next drink was the lemon meringue cocktail and it wasn't as great with the lemon bitters but couldn't really complain. We ordered the fries which were so-so but hit the spot.
