I finally made it to Peppe's Apt 2 after all these years and I had an enjoyable meal and it's an elegant and snazzy place. I went there solo so I arrived early on a weekday after opening up and before any diners arrived and the dining room felt a little stuffy to me especially when I was told no ball caps in the dining room and that's fine, I didn't plan to dine with it on. So I decided to sit outside as it was a perfect weather night for it and loved their patio. I had the beef tenderloin tips in a rigatoni pasta and vodka cream sauce that was the daily special and a side spinach salad. It goes without saying it was pretty pricey but I was very full when I exited so was happy. Service was great and very professional. As much as I enjoyed my pasta I didn't feel Peppe's made my higher pantheon list of fine Italian restaurants along with Gitto's, Marcella's and a few other Italian restaurants mostly in the city but it's high up for St. Louis County Italian places and top notch. read more

We came to Peppes 2 for my birthday lunch on a Friday and it was a really elevated/ special experience. I hadn't been here in years and it seemed like a good place to start my birthday weekend. I started out with an aperol spritz and a di peppe salad which was really good. Italian salad with some savory touches of cheese and salami. I got the chicken parm which was delightful, especially with the oil/ garlic pasta was a nice addition. They brought me a dessert to help me celebrate, which was panna cotta. I've never had it before, it was light but flavorful. Definitely delicious! I will for sure be back. read more

Classic old style restaurant. We went for the 10 course tasting menu which turned out to be a huge mistake. They took ages to bring each course and they were far oversized for a menu of that many courses. And most were not special or interesting. The waitress was just civil. We are unlikely to come back. read more

The veal and house salad were delicious. The lemon sauce on the veal was *chef's kiss*. (Not pictured was the $19 Negroni. It was good but I think I'll opt for wine over a $19 cocktail next time. They don't list the prices on their cocktails so this is more of a note to self on that point). The red wine (Vitiano Rosso) definitely does the trick. The halibut looks realllly good, I may try that next time. The patio is divine. Can't beat it. read more

We've morphed to Italy. This was a very fun lunch and we didn't get kicked out. Typically, they don't let us in a nice spot. Too many shenanigans. This is an elevated and elegant spot. We had a little wine for lunch. The halibut and all of its buttery glory is the best thing on the menu! #stlouispescatarianappproved Protip: keep some bread to sop up the sauce that comes on the halibut. They call that "Fare La Scarpetta" in Italy, showing appreciation by not wasting the sauce. My friends got some flesh, the carpaccio, and they seemed to enjoy it. The service was fantastic. A wide variety of apps, salads, pastas, meat and fish all served Italian style! Salads served cold on cold plates. A touch I love at restaurants! Everything was cooked to perfection. Love is seen in the dishes. Extensive wine menu and can order by the class or bottle. No cocktail menu is had but a fully stocked bar and Leo the bartender any delightful concoction can be made! The service was outstanding from start to finish. Our waitress, Kate, was delightful--she gave us excellent recommendations and let us enjoy our dinner at a perfect pace. We were also greeted by the owner, which was a nice touch, and even recognized the bartender, Leo, from a restaurant we visited years ago. We started with the appetizer special: a trio of shrimp, ravioli, and eggplant. The shrimp and eggplant were the stars for me--absolutely delicious--while the ravioli was good, just overshadowed by the other two. The fresh bread, delivered from The Hill, was also a great addition. For entrées, I had the Saltimbocca di Vitella, which was excellent. One of my companions ordered the halibut--truly amazing--and another had the sirloin, which was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is elegant and upscale, making it the perfect spot for a special night out or to impress a guest. We'll definitely be back! read more

The ambiance and service were as good as it gets-absolutely first tier. I'm talking about never having to ask for anything because the staff inherently senses that without hovering or asking. The timing of the courses was perfect, neither rushed nor delayed. The food was very good but not unforgettable. All things considered, the value was there and we will certainly return. read more

I started with their house Cabernet Sauvignon and it was smooth. Slightly fruity and well balanced. We skipped ordering appetizers and went straight to ordering dinner. I went with an off menu special, halibut in a lemon butter sauce with string beans. The halibut was cooked nicely. I really enjoyed the lemon butter sauce. Sometimes the sauce can make the fish too rich but this was perfect. The string beans were cooked perfectly so they still had a slight crunch to them. Excellent meal! Our waitress did an excellent job. She stayed on top of everything. They have a parking lot on the back side of the restaurant and there's ample street parking too. Peppe's is an absolute must eat restaurant in Kirkwood for a romantic setting. The service is 10 out of 10. If you love seafood, Veal, or pasta you cannot go wrong with their choices. I highly recommended getting the traditional two options for your best buck if you are on a budget. Their wine list is multiple pages long to choose from. I ended up with an old fashion that was excellent. My pick two ended up being the steak sirloin and the chef nailed the cook for medium rare. Highly recommend getting the salmon as it was my favorite from my parties order. We ended the night with cannolis. Yummmm they were warm and delish! read more

This place is just special. Got the veal peppe, which is off menu, my absolute favorite item there. The mista verda salad favorite, but I love both goat cheese and kalamata olives. We went here for our annual family Christmas dinner. Ambiance and feel was unmatched! Our waitress did a great job checking on us without overwhelming us. Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant in St. Louis and there are a lot of great Italian restaurants in St. Louis. The food is incredible! I highly recommend the trio for an appetizer. It comes with a shrimp, eggplant and ravioli and is simply amazing. Order the halibut with the Peppe's house salad for dinner, you will not regret it. Their espresso martini's are the best in town and you can't go wrong with any of the desserts. Peppe and his staff provide top notch service and you have the choice of sitting on the main floor for a classic Italian vibe, upstairs for a more formal dinner or large group and outside in the garden for a more casual ambiance. read more

I'm a little late in posting this it happened a while ago. But our visit could not have been worse. A man who introduced himself as the owner asked us how our evening was going and I told him my chicken was still frozen in the middle and he told me he would have my server come take care of it. He turned around and started talking to the table next to us. He talked to them for 20 minutes, actually, resting the back of his rear on the corner of our table. Needless to say, I didn't eat when the server came - who I think was avoiding coming by because the owner was there - I told him I couldn't eat it that it was frozen in the middle. My plate was taken and a check was delivered. Nothing was adjusted. I never got my chicken back. read more

The atmosphere here is really amazing and unique! It is such a cute, dimly lit, elegant little restaurant! I love all the white upscale decor, flowers, and bedazzled mirrors. It does get a little loud. We absolutely love the cannelloni here! It is so good and unique! The pasta is very thin, almost crepe-like. It is stuffed with really flavorful meat and topped with a sweet marinara and bechamel sauce. It is addicting! For an appetizer, we enjoyed the eggplant parmesan. We love the marinara sauce on this dish. Just wish it wasn't so expensive for the ridiculously small portion you get. They serve warm sesame seed rolls and butter to start the meal. The only critique I have is that I wish they had a caesar salad option here. read more

This place is CLASSY and cute, and we chose it tonight for a celebration with family. I called a few days beforehand trying to get a reservation for their private rooms, but alas, they only have around 9 tables downstairs to begin with, so we settled for an outdoor patio table. When the forecast showed rain, the restaurant kindly called me back when a spot opened up for indoor seating! Apparently they have private rooms upstairs, but a very limited number. The garden is super picturesque with hydrangeas and much greenery and about 5-6 tables with umbrellas. I loved the interior of this Victorian-style house, lots of white and gold, resplendent with many chandeliers. Our waiter was wonderful. I was afraid this would be too fancy/uptight for my toddlers but it actually got loud enough that it didn't matter and ended up being kid-friendly. They do have high chairs. The waiters all wear masks which I appreciated. Our food arrived pretty quickly. The beef tip special was ok---beef was a tiny chewy. The halibut special was phenomenal and flaky tender and I loved the fried mashed potato on the side. The veal ravioli came in the most rich, decadent sauce which I shamelessly soaked lots of bread in. We also tried the egg plant parm appetizer--super flavorful, slightly salty. They don' t have true "kids' meals" but they offer plain pasta with butter or alfredo sauce. For $6 they gave my daughter some rigatoni with butter sauce; she loved it, but they only gave about 7-8 pieces of pasta so it was definitely a tiny portion. Their desserts of the day included panna cotta or cannoli. We ordered the cannoli to share and it comes as 4 tiny mini-cannolis with fresh cream inside and a strawberry on the side. All in all it was the perfect place for a celebratory fancy dinner! read more

Wow wow wow!! I have been meaning to try this place for a while now, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I was able to make a reservation on the earlier side to get in the whole family, to celebrate a special occasion. Not only was the staff, incredibly prompt and courteous, they were very chatty and smiling the entire time. I was a little bit worried they did not have a full on kids menu, but they were able to make suggestions about what dishes the littler folks in the party would enjoy. And based on the fact that our youngest literally licked the plate clean of her fettuccine Alfredo, they were spot on!! You can order two courses, or five, or up to 10! They each come with the option of a salad or dessert, or salad and dessert if you go for the larger ones! I have to say, after just two courses, I was very full, and I don't know how folks would fit more food in them :) but trust me I'd have liked to! I also have to say that the wine list was extremely expensive and surprisingly affordable! We opted to share a bottle and we did not break the bank. I cannot wait to return in the warmer weather when we can sit outside on what looks to be an amazingly beautiful patio! read more
