First thing they tell us is that equipment is down and the wait is 45 minutes. Ok... things happen. No biggie. We waited the 45 minutes..... for undercooked pancakes! It was the new Flipped stuffed pancake thingy so it's not like they could just throw the pancakes back on the grill for 2 minutes. I didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a new dish. I had breakfast here before I started my day for work. I had the hearty breakfast which came out good, but they gave me pancakes when I stated I wanted wheat toast. That right there I already knew my server was not gonna be a good one. I asked for hot sauce, and she asked if I wanted chalula or Tabasco. I said Tabasco, then she brings me chalula....smh. now that's twice already she messed up. Then lastly we get our bill and she charged me for a soda when I had only water. Now that's 3 times she f'd up. All in all the food is good as any other Perkins I've been to, but the server... First impression, I was taken back by the sign in process. The hostess did not welcome us in and was very cold to us. She proceeded to tell us to sign in and then grabbed menus and walked away. I was stunned and confused. When she looked back I asked "were we supposed to follow you?" And she coldly responded "yeah, I told you to follow me." My mom and I were stunned at her reaction as we were quiet the entire time and the hostess had definitely NOT told us to follow her. Stopped in to order take-out. Nice friendly man (Jeremy, I think) at the counter started to take my large order when 2 senior ladies came up to pay their bill with a large bill. Jeremy had a young female worker finish my order so he could make change for their large bill but not enough correct bills in his till . Told his co-worker she had to cancel my order (was ok since she needed help to ring up one of my special items) so he could make change out that drawer. Then MANY people started coming in i.e. party of 5, 2 and 3 etc. He quickly seated the large party and had co-worker finish that so he could finish helping me. I know a lot of people would have been upset by this time. I'm over 75 and have to use a cane so had to lean on counter. I know everywhere I go, there is a shortage of help AND help wanted signs displayed EVERYWHERE so I am grateful these workers are here today and to help me with my large order to go! What I don't get and have no patience for is that OTHER PATRONS are so concerned about me, me, me that they don't know what is going on out in the world. I eat out a lot and at a lot of different places. If the workers are nice, respectful and trying their best with what they have to work with, why should the customer take the 'time' it takes out on the restaurant. So you wait longer? Look around you. I once saw a young man have to wait on an entire dining room by himself! I'll bet he wanted to quit and get away from all the grumpy customers. This is a sign of the times and has been since covid began....I have come to think less of the patrons who complain than of the restaurant and their employees. I really want to give them more stars, but Perkins is not what they used to be. Service was terrible on a Friday afternoon for lunch. No one greeted us and we waited over 10 minutes before anyone showed us to a table. Our server was kind but so very slow. We knew what we wanted to order but she only took our drink orders and said she'd be back. Drinks took forever and then she disappeared. I will say the salads we ordered for lunch were delicious and plentiful! My mom and I loved them! But we ordered a donut to share for dessert and it tasted like it was multiple days old. Very disappointing visit. I am part of a decorated military veteran family. We and many of our friends are conservatives. Upon a recent visit to your store one morning for brunch the on duty manager stood next to another table for more than15 minutes (in 2 spurts of 7-10 minutes each) and berated the president, Trump supporters and conservatives as a whole. While this WAS part of him agreeing with the conversation he was legitimately having with the patrons at the table, he made it crystal clear he was very much against the president, conservatives and the practices of both. Those at the table felt very alienated and unwelcome by this manager. I respect your views, as an individual, they're yours to have. I respect you wanting to chat with your guests. That's the right thing to do. But 15-20 minutes of loudly talking about controversial topics that alienate other guests? That I don't support. Our table of 4 was sorely disappointed with this behavior. I've recently moved to the area and I don't know that I'll be back to this location after this showing of unwelcoming and unprofessional behavior. Please use this as a teachable moment. read more

We told her she forgot it and she responded with "Oh"... it would have been courteous to apologize. The first time I dined at the Monticello Perkins was about two years and I swore I would never go back. The staff was rude, the service slow, the food sub-par. Last year it was closed for renovation and I thought nothing of it. Then a holiday rolled around and everything else was closed. Everything. So we stopped in and I am glad we did! The new staff is friendly and the service is quick. The food is good and served at the temperature it is meant to be. And the frickles (fried pickles) are so good I could eat them until I was sick! If you tried this Perkins a while back and had the same experience I did, I would say give them another shot. read more

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning with a friend who drove from out of town. We get that it was a Saturday and busy, but we got a late start to our day so it was between breakfast and lunch.. we could have gone anywhere else in town, but we both wanted breakfast. We were patient in being seated and greeted for the first time from our waitress. We both ordered a juice and water. She brought them back to the table for us but didn't bring straws we had to ask. And not only that, but on of our water glasses had lipstick on it. We don't wear lipstick. Our waitress hardly acknowledged us so we couldn't even bring it to her attention.. there was several tables seated after us, ordered after us, and got their food before us.. by the time our food came it was cold, she never once came back to check on us after our food was delivered. She also brought our check right away after our food. Where as the tables around us that she was helping she checked back with them and waiting until they looked like they were slowing down to bring them their check.. I have never had such terrible service. And we felt very discriminated yes we may look younger, but that doesn't mean you can give your guests less attention and treat them terribly.. needless to say there was not a very good tip involved. I am not the type of person to tip poorly either, but if I don't get the service that they are giving to everyone else, you are not getting a tip from me like everyone else.. we both even filled out the survey and at the end where it says please contact me we said yes to it.. it said you will get a reply within 48 hours... never heard anything back! I stopped in for a quick breakfast this morning before heading home from a camping trip. I was solo, so I assumed it would be a quick in and out trip...I assumed wrong. It was about 12:10 on a Sunday and it was steady in there but plenty of open tables and not super busy. I was seated in the back at a 2 person table and It took 10 minutes before the waitress even came over for my drink order. When she did come over I placed my order with her right away (everything omelette, hash browns and pancakes) so I could get it in. I looked at the time when she delivered my coke, 12:17...about 5 minutes after I ordered it just to see how long it would take. At 12:43 she came over to me and said that she was checking on my food because she knew it had been about 20 minutes...even though i knew it had been more like 30. My food finally came at 12:55...40 minutes after I placed my order! She offered me a muffin or a piece of pie for the wait, but I was so disappointed in the length of time it took! She said she would mention it to her manager, and in the mean time another man spoke up to me and said "this is how it always is here..." I'm sorry, but this is Perkins. Not a little hole in the wall breakfast place....every other Perkins I've been to has had prompt service and the food comes out quick too! When the waitress came back she said the manager was taking my meal off and walked away...no apology or anything. She never even checked back with me to see how the food was or when my coke sat empty! I would not recommend this establishment. I've been in the service industry for years so I "get it." The worst Perkins ever. For two of us the food took 45 minutes to get and was cold when it arrived. "Do you want me to have them make it over?" Ummmm.....NO. We don't have another hour to waste as we have some place to be. Seeing as this was our only chance to eat for several more hours, we tried to eat cold eggs and hash browns. Nope, nope and nope. Manager wasn't any help. Said they would talk to the kitchen about it & comped a box muffins for us. Woohoo! We left hungry, extremely dis-satisfied and now running late. But hey, we have six muffins! Yeah....I'll take "that doesn't quite make up for it" for the whole ball of wax Alex.
