However, the work was completed months after it was supposed to be finished; I literally had to hound Dan via voicemails and texts to keep momentum going. Poor communication/lack of follow-through on promises. Finally someone was sent to remove the old concrete in our garage. The folks Dan sent used an inappropriate piece of equipment (to save time)--something that was far too powerful to ever be so close to our house. I tried to stop them, letting them know things were flying off the walls. Sure enough, it causes a crack in a foundational wall in our basement. I had to fight tooth and nail(daily calls and texts) to get reimbursement for the repair bill. Twice I was told 'check is in the mail'(no checks ever came). Only after I threatened to go to small claims court did I receive reimbursement. I asked for an additional $75 on top of our repair bill to use for drywall and painting, and that was not included in the amount. I thought my request was more than reasonable, especially given the long delay and hassle. Here is the photo of the repair we had to have completed. Dan tells you what you want to hear--be prepared to hound him daily if you want the work done.

Kalscheuer was unresponsive while this was going on and basically indicated it wasn't his problem because it wasn't him that did it. But he was the one that hired them! Ultimately the damage was repaired but it looks terrible and I'm sure devalues our home. Kalscheuer is big on promises but bad on delivering on them. His concrete work cracked through within 6 months, and he said he would repair, but now is ignoring us.

The folks who did the work suggested foam backer rod to fill and then a self-leveling sealant. I am 75+ and I don't have these things on hand nor can I operate a caulking gun. Marty called back within an hour and after discussing my issue gave me a reasonable and doable fix, which was to fill the gap with silica or builder's sand and I can use my house broom to level out, etc. He is coming next Spring to look at the drive to see what we might do with that!
