Doctor's office charged upfront for services that was 100% paid by insurance. I asked for reimbursement. When doctor's office finally reimbursed 6 months later, amount was shorted with no explanation. Repeatedly called over several weeks but nobody from the doctor's office would return calls. EOBs from insurance show doctor was fully paid--I had $0 responsibility. The office staff are thieves and lack the manners and courtesy to return calls. read more

This doctor was HORRIBLE!!!!! I waited for over an hour to be seen, and he was only in the room for less than 5 minutes. I am truly not overexagerating. He did not palpate my stomach completely nor did he listen to my GI movements with his stethoscope (WHICH IS SOMETHING YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO IN A GI PHYSICAL EXAM). He just told me I needed an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, he did not explain to me what those procedures consisted of or let me ask any questions regarding the procedure because he got up from his chair and started exiting the room. I only got the chance to ask ONE question, and he said "The ladies in the front will tell you everything you need to know" and then exited the room. Like Hello????? I did not pay a copay of $50 and wait over an hour for you to not even do a full physical exam and not explain anything about my procedures. He didn't even prescribe me anything to relieve my symptoms in the meanwhile. When I went to the front desk ladies ALL they said was that the bill would be +3k and asked what date I would like to schedule my procedures for. Do you guys really think I'm going to just easily schedule procedures that I wasn't even explained and will drop 3k for?? DO NOT come to this doctor. read more

Dr. M Patel is probably the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. Four years ago when I was having acid reflux issues he basically told me to eat whatever I want. Just take PPI the rest of my life. Had I done that I would probably be severely vitamin and mineral deficient as well as having multiple acid reflux issues. I managed to heal myself on my own. I have all the symptoms of parasites as well as photographs, proving that I am pooping out worms and worm eggs, and because of a negative stool test, he refuses to treat me. He also will not even look at the photos that I have proving that I have some kind of parasite. He is very rude, very uneducated, and has a chip on his shoulder. Even when I pointed out that websites like the CDC and WebMD prove that parasites do not always show up on still testing he his words were I don't believe that. The staff and Dr. G Patel were very friendly. He listened to my concerns and gave me options of what to do. When I needed to see him again and get scans, he called that night to let me know what they were. For a worrier like me that was huge. Nothing but nice things to say. read more

Don't even bother trying to make an appt. You will be required to send your medical records before you even see the doctor. And though your records are coming from another Gastroenterologist, the doctor will choose whether he wants to see you or not. This will all take several weeks during which time you are making several calls, being promised a call back (which will never come), and have your medical history presumably just sitting in an office for anyone to see - all for nothing. Drive to Lubbock or fly to Houston, it will be much faster. read more

So there are a few gastroenterologists at this place. I have only seen Mrunal Patel, and I do not recommend. Does not give patients the time of day, even if they have been waiting almost 2 hours past their appointment times. Anytime I tried to talk to him or bring up an issue or concern, he interrupted and talked over me every single time. Don't know if it's because I'm a woman, or if he does this to everyone. Also unprofessional. He compared me to another patient of his, who is FAR older than I and has a completely different lifestyle. I was so very encouraged when he told me that I will "always run away from everything and quit every job I have" because I was trying to get out of a job that was causing me so much anxiety that I had severe IBS non-stop, everyday for 4 months straight.
