I was told they would gather that information. When I questioned why there was this error, the answer from the staff person was, 'I don't know'. When I questioned re-etching the stone, I was told I would have to cover the almost $4000 cost. I didn't argue or fight this as I didn't have the emotional energy to take this on at that time. This was already a difficult and emotional time, and this mistake just compounded all those emotions and caused many sleepless nights.

We purchased a gravestone from Memorials by Michel in 2015 at the time of my father's passing and…read moreleft space on it for my mother's date of death. My mother passed away in December of 2018 and our funeral home placed a request in our name to have the date of death inscribed on the stone at that time. By mid-April, the stone was back in its place with the wrong date. I had not received any proof to review prior to the time the stone was inscribed as I had the first time the stone was inscribed. I contacted the funeral home, which had noticed the mistake a couple of days prior during another funeral and they contacted Memorials by Michel. They acknowledged the error and said that they would correct it sometime after Memorial Day. By July, the gravestone was still there with the wrong inscription. I contacted Memorials by Michel and they apologized and said that it had "fallen through the cracks" and that they would drive the stone to their quarry "next Tuesday" to make the correction. The stone was removed by the end of July but not returned. On August 30th, 2019, I visited the gravesite and the stone was still gone so I contacted them again. They again apologized and said that the stone would be returned shortly. Today, September 11th, I received yet another apology, with the added comment that their crane is broken and that they will not be able to return the stone as planned. Trust and timing are a huge considerations when choosing a memorial and the amount of trust I have in Memorials by Michel has deteriorated due to the vast amount of time it is taking to correct a simple mistake.
