I love the store, not a fan of the groomer. My other dog who loved going to groomer had changed from good to bad. They called us up and asked us to come in, that he was misbehaving. Never happened before he been going grooming world since he was a puppy - adult hood. I have no idea what happen the lady with purple highlights and black hair was scared which is horrible for groomer to do while he was on the table. She wouldn't go by him while he still in that neck thing. You probably can figure out how angry and worried I was seeing my dog at risk. They told us they can't do anything and we have to leave and get him, since then my dog hasn't been the same. I hope to god she fired and never continues grooming. We went to vet and they think he was traumatized. He can't be by any groomer. I have another dog and boy I learned my lesson. I wouldn't trust this place for anything. Shop here but avoid the grooming area of all costs. There are so many better choices. You don't have to believe me, but I warned you. read more

Make sure you double check your prices. I cannot tell you how many times I get to the register and the price is different than what is marked on the shelf. They are CONSTANTLY stocking the shelves with product in the wrong spot. Technically they should give the customer the price that is listed on the shelf. When I mentioned it to the employee, she blamed the customers for moving things around and not putting them back where they go. While I understand that is a possibility- but it happens repeatedly. Today it was a stack (not just one bag) but multiple bags of 50lb dog food. C'mon y'all. Just own it. Whoever stocked the shelves is not putting stuff where it belongs. It's not that hard. Plus, PetSmart is only 10 minutes down the road and tractor supply about 15. Time to move one. read more

I come here to shop for food, toys, and treats for my dog. I like the prices, and everyone seems nice enough, but seems like when I go in to get something on sale (particularly the small bully sticks) they are always out of stock. If you are always running out, then why not order more? If it's a supply issue and you can only get so many, then I would limit customers to a certain amount so everyone gets a chance to get items that are on sale. read more

First, I got an email offering a discount code. I ordered online and picked it up in store. However, after I entered the store, the staff came to tell me that they canceled my order because my discount code was not recognized. I question why others can use it but I can't. At this time, the staff member raised his voice and yelled at me, don't talk to me, please get out of here and stop this kind of stealing. Just started using their authorship recently as my 10 yr old cat has diabetes and the vet recommended Tiki wet food because of the high protein, fat and minimal carbohydrates. My Gwenny loves it, and to know PSP has what she needs is so gratifying, especially with all the chain supply issues. Today was the second time I used the auto ship, Melissa called to let me know what was in stock. I originally was to get this order tomorrow, 2/7...but Melissa was able to get a driver(Betsy), who was very nice, to deliver it today. I have been using Chewy for my auto ship orders, but will now cancel as PSP is more reliable. All the staff there are very friendly. PSP rocks!! read more

They have a lot more variety than other pet store chains and have a good selection of the higher end dog food brands that you won't find at petco/petsmart (orijen, acana, fromm, etc.) . Looking for a professional pet groomer is a difficult process. My dog (bichon/miniature poodle mix) and I were lucky the day we discovered Colleen at PetValu in Manalapan. PetValu eventually closed and we followed Colleen to Pet Supplies Plus in Hazlet. Despite the distance, it was worth the trip because my dog always felt at ease with her. Colleen is one of those rare, but dedicated groomers, who understands the psychology of dogs and is kind and gentle. Unfortunately, my dog recently passed away so I will no longer be making that trip. Based on past experience, I highly recommend Colleen to anyone looking for an excellent pet groomer. It's always difficult to find groomers that can groom your dog the way you want at an affordable cost, but then I stumbled upon pet supplies plus groomers and haven't looked back! They always do a great job and my dog loves going to his "spa" day. Sadly, I'm moving out of state this weekend but before we go, I had to make sure we got in one last visit. Also, the little bandannas they give your are super adorable! I'm always excited to see what one my boy gets to add to his collection. I wish I could just pack them up and take them with, haha! Excellent pet store that carries many brands of pet food you do not see in the other two large stores. I shop the Hazlet store and it is always spotlessly clean, associates are readily available if you have a question or need help, prices are very good and they offer coupons and points where you can earn a free bag of food once you purchase the designated quanity for your pet. Checking out always has polite and helpful employees. The store itself smells free and free of overwhelming orders like some stores. If you are in to starting a fish tank, they have the cleanest tank water anywhere and the healthiest fish. Always has a great stock of pet supplies no matter what kind of pet you keep. My dog Rocky recently had some stomach issues and the vet recommended he try hills science diet sensitive skin and stomach food. I called around and found out pet supplies plus carried this food when I got there I wasn't sure what I should get there was a huge variety one of the employees helped me for 15 minutes pick out the dry food, all of it. Then the girl at the register gave me a coupon, took $10 off my purchase... that was great being I was spending over $100! I have spent a lot of money in this pet store mostly on fish that drop dead within a day or 2. My water is perfect. I have 2 tanks 30 gal. community and a 55 gal. Cichlid tank. I have ordered many fish on line and never had any fish die, I've purchased in other pet stores and none have died. Now I go in to buy snails and was told because I bring the dead fish back for credit I can no longer buy fish in Pet Supplies Plus. Most likely because customer are flushing dead fish or trashing them, I feel they need to make good since they sell sickly fish out of dirty tanks. This is fine, beware they have dead fish floating in tanks and stuck to filters these fish aren't healthy at all. They did me a favor by saying I can't buy fish there anymore. What keeps me coming back is their prices on pet food and supplies, and that's it. A majority of the staff are teenage kids and always seem like they dont care and dont want to be bothered. While looking for different collars and harnesses, she helped me find a great fit by trying many different ones on my dog. Nina even helped me through the process of engraving a name tag. I have shopped in this store for the longest time because it is close, convenient and I always find what I need in there. I agree with the other posters that the staff needs customer service training; I had a horrible experience 2 days ago in the Hazlet store. I was shopping and found a Christmas sweater for my 16 lb. Doxie mix and asked the clerk if it could be exchanged if it did not fit. She was very polite and told me yes. I got the sweater home and when I put it on my pup, it was indeed too snug. The next day I went back to the store up to the 1st register, a young man assisted me and I had my receipt. He asked if I payed by credit or cash. He then discovered it was cash method and said "Oh you will be refunded in cash". I said "Oh, cash is great". A smooth transaction soon turned sour. Then the clincher came...He asked for my drivers license!. I asked why, and he said "We need I.D. to prove it is YOU. I said "why"? He said that is the procedure. My wallet was in the car in the parking lot, and it was not convenient to me that I had to go outside in the cold to walk to my car (I have a bad foot), as I was walking to my vehicle the woman behind me was doing the same thing! I was livid at this point. The original price of the item was $19.99 and was marked down to $9.99 (which was a great savings)! When I got back in the store I said to the young man, "What happens if I didn't drive"? and I didn't have a drivers license, he said "Then we'd need a Government I.D." I said "A government I.D"?! Are you kidding me! Why? He said because it is store policy I guess because of people trying to scam the store with returns. I think it is very unfair that honest people have to suffer because of a "Few bad apples". I will NOT be returning to your store. read more

I absolutely love this store. Pet Supplies Plus has many of the premium brand foods that are usually only found at specialty pet supply stores, but at better prices. They offer a discount card and frequent coupons, so you can get some outstanding deals here. They also have a good selection of Made In The USA rawhides and bones. I have a hard time finding such things at bigger pet supply chains like Petsmart and Petco. After all the Made In China pet food horror stories, having trusted American and Canadian made brands is very important to me. PSP also offers grooming, nail clipping, and a vaccination clinic. (Check their website for vax clinic dates.) And best of all, PSP allows animal adoption charities to set up on the premises so that homeless animals have a chance at adoption. That makes me especially happy! read more

Let me start by saying if the store wasn't conveniently located I would not bother, however when driving to the bigger Pet Food stores is not an option, which is frequently, I go there. First, the workers are all teenagers, however they all greet me and seem to be helpful. Second, the prices are not competitive unless there is a sale. However, there is a sign by the cashier that states they will match the price of the other stores so that's a plus. Third, the store window sign and even Yelp says the store opens at 9am every day. So when i got there at 8:45 I sat in my car for 15 minutes. When I saw someone walking out at 9:00 when I walked in, I asked what time they opened and they said 8:30. I told the girl about the sign in the window and she said she would tell her Mgr. Until this day both Yelp and the sign in the window say 9am. Fourth, you are mercilessly asked for shelter donations which I have NO problem with, but it is harassing every single time. Especially when the amount can be $3/4. Why don't you have a donation week or do like the big stores and privately ask on the Debit Machine or better yet have a system when we give you our phone numbers that tells you the last time we donated so you don't harass me at 10am and then again at noon when I realize I forgot something. People on line behind you don't know I donated 2 hours earlier and eye you like "How could you not give, you beast?". Lastly.. I never find what I'm looking for. If you are not looking for the usual commercial brand, you will find very limited flavors of the other. That is why this store is good for me in a pinch, however it may be good for you as it seems to have a customer base. read more

I've been a patron of Pet Supplies Plus in Hazlet, NJ for several years and never have I had an experience as terrible as I had tonight. I noticed a RED HEADED associate (didn't catch her name) collecting fish from a tank and saw one of the fish fall to the floor. I watched for a moment and overheard her telling a customer that "it happens all the time and those are the ones you find dried up under the shelf in the morning." I said loudly for the associate to hear, to pick it up before it dies. She didn't act quickly so I rushed over and picked it up from the floor, then dropped it back into the tank. Unfortunately the fish was not tended to in time and died. The associate didn't seem to care and some immature shoppers giggled at the scene. This occurrence surprised me because the worst I've ever experienced here at this location was out of stock items. This is supposed to be an establishment for animals and people who love and care for their pets. It makes me feel unsure of how other animals are treated at this facility.
