This place is a rip-off. I brought my dog in for an ear infection in one of her ears. I specifically chose this location because my dog has Thrive Plus, but as soon as I walked in, I saw a sign stating that they no longer accept Thrive Plus and that the exam fee was $195. At that point, I figured it was expensive, but I was willing to pay because my dog's health comes first. However, considering that her recent ER exam for an eye scratch was only around $200, the $195 exam fee felt excessive. I arrived just five minutes after the clinic opened, yet it still took about 30 minutes before someone came in to see my dog. Then, another 30-40 minutes passed before the doctor came in. The doctor, Angell, spent much of the consultation going off-topic and laughing at my dog rather than clearly explaining what was going on or what she believed the issue was. After discussing treatment, because the $195 exam didn't even result in telling me the problem, they sent me an estimate totaling $531. The doctor had confirmed that my dog's current medication made ear mites unlikely, so at that point I decided to leave. I simply could not justify spending over $500 on an ear infection that was not considered an emergency or otherwise detrimental to her health. I'm extremely disappointed by the pricing and overall experience. It honestly felt like this clinic was taking advantage of people who are willing to spend whatever they can to make sure their pets are okay. I went in expecting to pay for an exam and appropriate treatment, not to be presented with a $531 bill for what appeared to be a relatively straightforward ear infection. I spent less money at the ER for my dog's eye-scratch (408) than the estimate for an ear infection at this urgent care.

Chloe snagged the last appointment of the day:) Thank you, Dr. Clark!

I can't say enough great things about this Urgent Care. Dr. Clark and team did such a wonderful job with my Chloe. Most vets are closed or completely booked on weekends, so when a friend suggested this place, I knew it was my last hope. They were also booked. However, I was placed on the cancellation list and (Thankfully!) a spot opened up. To my surprise, the cost was actually less than what I would have paid for my regular vet. It feels great knowing I have a place to take my fur babies for urgent matters!

I went in there yesterday with my dog, and she had been ill vomiting and had diarrhea. She swallowed a piece of a pen and it was concerning to me. When I got to the Urgent Care Lexi would not calm down she was aggressive and barking, and the doctor and staff were not able to check her out without sedation. The doctor offered to give her medication for her diarrhea and her vomiting and also something to sedate her or we could just walk out the door and see like act like it never happened and see what happens tomorrow. They did not charge me which I thought was wonderful. You don't often get treatment like that with the option of no treatment at all and no charge. Because we were actually in an examination room and we did take their time. Can't say enough good things about this. If you have a pet that's ill. I totally recommend this place because they showed consideration and compassion.

We were referred here by our normal vet since we had an urgent matter with our pup, and they didn't have any availability today or tomorrow. The place is modern, updated, open. The receptionist, Olivia, was efficient and nice. The tech, Sofia, that brought our pup back was very friendly and sweet with our pup. Right now, they are just taking the pets back by themselves, and us humans waiting the front. The wait to get registered and taken back is really short, especially compared to other emergency/urgent care vets. There is an emergency clinic across the parking lot as well, just in case. The vet, Dr. Zimmerman, is very friendly, thorough, and took his time explaining what is currently wrong and what other concerns to watch for (anticipatory guidance is always appreciated!!).

My dog was had a raise spot on her eye and the white of her eye was red. This pet urgent care was great. We were in, we were out, all within an hour. We were given eye drops to take home. The doctor was very friendly and willing to answer questions. Would definitely recommend!

My poor kitty fell out of a 50ft tree and broke his back leg. I called prior and they told me to bring him in. The front desk lady, Olivia, was super sweet and attentive. Dr. Clark was also super kind and helpful. My cat was very unhappy when we got there and howling in his carrier in the waiting room, so they took him back to make him more comfortable in a dark, quiet room, which was very sweet of them. I was crying when I found out that he would need surgery to correct the fracture, and both Olivia and Dr. Clark offered me tissues. My only reasoning behind four stars instead of five is that it did take a lot longer than expected. I would definitely recommend taking your pets here for urgent medical attention!

I had to bring my guinea pig in for respiratory distress. They put him on oxygen and kept me posted so I wasn't "just waiting".. honestly I could have just waited but being told "the vet is finishing up with another patient and is going to check out your pet real soon" is extra service/notice I hadn't expected. It was a fairly long night but vet was fairly thorough.. scientific, matter-of-fact, not harsh but not overly emotional, just right. The vet let me know what care overnight would look like, what the prognosis would be, what could or could not be determined, but made it clear that as a prey animal with very fragile respiratory systems, what happened was not too uncommon. Kara returned to help me, console me, and later present an estimate of care, and (as one might expect) helped me to the (not too hard) decision to put our guinea pig down. (Let me clarify she didn's sway or try to influence my decision, she was just there as I went through the decision making process). I don't blame this hospital for the costs, nor do I have any experience to know if he "should have been able to be saved".. I just know Kara was extremely supportive and kind during what was one of the hardest experiences I've had as a mother (this was going the first pet my kids loved and lost). She was there till with above and beyond care. Anyone colder or just "professional" would've made me feel more isolated and less comforted but she helped me through an extremely difficult time. Kara sets the bar for what care should look like anywhere. Thank you

Mind you, notices were sent to her vet. Our vet here is Dr. Rodriguez. We followed her from another vet. She is an outstanding and caring vet. Jacaranda had been seen by Dr. Perry because our regular vet was not available. She had a seizure right in the waiting room, there were quite a few people working on her. Over $1,000. For her episode. She had a seizure at home and it was just the two of us and she took a pill and was fine. Dr. Perry had said dogs have seizures all the time there, which I thought was strange, I have been to a lot of vets over the years and not seen a seizure. Ever. I've mentioned this to other vets who don't seem to know what she's talking about and suggest I go elsewhere if dogs are having seizures all the time in the waiting room. Maybe it's something environmental? Today, after putting Frenchi down over the weekend, she was old and had lived a long life and was not doing great, jacaranda had a seizure and we took her into VCA Mission Valley. We took her to Kearny Mesa and we left after many hours of them not caring for her, it's a real circus there. Don't ever go there. The Mission Valley team got jacaranda back on track and I needed to take her in first thing this morning. Then I get this AI generated message that seems like I'm texting with a person saying that Dr. Perry think she should schedule a T-4 test. She just had one in Jan and it was normal. And dr. Perry is not her doctor. They received messages from VCA about what had gone on, so why harass us about anything right now? Heartless, right? I don't know what's going on there, or why the urgency for billing is happening from a vet that is not her regular vet, but I am sickened. Just crestfallen that we need to change vets because we love Dr. Rodriguez, but if this is what happens when she is out of the office - no thanks! Be aware. I just want to vomit. This is not how a vets office should be dealing with someone who just had a dog die and the other at emergency just days before. I should probably post the heartless conversation I had with two real people. Dr. Rodriguez is out of the office. She should know what is going on there. I am so sickened by this whole situation. We love you, Dr. Rodriguez, but we just can't deal with whatever is going on there. Alaura, whom I spoke with, said she would let them know that Dr. Perry is not her vet. Dr. Perry has never been her vet. She saw Dr. Perry out of necessity. Not for any other reason. Personally, I am just so disgusted. It's not bad enough all of this other stuff happened with our other dogs? It's been a bleak few days - that they were notified about - and I'm at a loss about how I even got texted about this test that the avma says should be done once a year if the last one was normal and it was done in January all of a sudden pops up. Alaura (who has always been very nice, I explained to her I do NOT want a call from management, I am just done) said someone new was working that contacted me (the original text had been AI and contacted me about this random test that doesn't need to be done right now). I should just post the conversation, it was completely mindless even when another person with more experience took over. I'm sure you would see why I am so upset. I've never had any of these random texts about tests before, why now? Why from Dr. Perry when she is not our vet? This is just about the most uncaring thing I've ever seen from a vet, mind you, we have experienced much worse from VSH. At least Rancho isn't performing unnecessary surgeries. So, there's that, at least. I'm just having a really, really bad, terrible time and this was the very, absolute last thing I needed. We won't be returning.

The first issue came when I reviewed the estimate. They had included bloodwork that I had already paid for ($161). After I pointed it out, the receptionist printed a corrected estimate, bringing the total to between $1,700.74 and $1,846.99. The receptionist then told us that a $1,000 deposit was required before the procedure. Although we thought that was unusually high, we agreed because we wanted our cat to receive the care she needed. Before proceeding, we asked the receptionist to let the doctor know that if any additional teeth needed to be extracted, we wanted to see the X-rays first before approving any extra procedures. Because the vet bill has 500 dollars in case they need to extract any other tooth. We felt this was a completely reasonable request. After speaking with the doctor, the receptionist came back and said, "Actually, the doctor said the deposit is $1,700." We were shocked. The only thing that had changed was that we asked to review X-rays before authorizing additional extractions, yet the required deposit suddenly increased from $1,000 to $1,700. We wanted an invoice / receipt to show that we paid, yet the receptionist said "our system does not give any receipts or invoice". Which makes no sense because how can it show that we paid? I have never been to a veterinary clinic that requires you to pay what is essentially the full cost of the surgery as a "deposit" before the procedure has even taken place. It made no sense. All they wanted was the extra money which was the $500 dollars. We asked to speak with Dr. Daniela Sumano so we could understand why the deposit had suddenly changed. The receptionist told us, "Sorry, she only answers medical questions, not questions about the bill or pricing and she has no time" That response was incredibly frustrating. If the doctor was the one who instructed the receptionist to increase the deposit from $1,000 to $1,700, then she should have been willing to explain why. Instead, we were given no explanation and no opportunity to discuss the decision. At that point, I asked them to cancel the procedure, return my cat, and refund my $1,700. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and unwillingness to answer simple questions completely destroyed our confidence in this clinic. Before we left, we asked the receptionist for the doctors name( Dr. Daniela Sumano) We left without the procedure and will never return. As soon as we got home, the doctor called us asking if we have any questions. Which was too late. I would not recommend this veterinary clinic if you to want to maintain a healthy pet and anyone looking for transparent communication, honest, billing, and respectful customer service.
